[Q] No charge light - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey, I am currently on stock ROM, custom twrp recovery, Franco kernel nightly 200 and gravitybox for my customizations. in setting I have pulse notification light on and in gravitybox settings under power tweaks DISABLE charging LED is unchecked so I have no idea why there is no charge light.
Anyone have any ideas?

There's a charging light? Never noticed that LOL

I use "Light Flow". It can also customize the color of the LED based on the apps.

The app doesn't work for me. I mean it launches and everything but the light still won't turn on. "Charging LED"works for me though.
Still annoying the the option in gravitybox won't work.

Did you try it in root mode?

[Q] Screen off while charging in CM7

Did anyone ever solve the issue of the screen never turning off while charging in CM7? Still seems there in 7.2. Is there any workaround for this besides simply pressing the power button after plugging in the charger? I've turned off "stay awake" and debugging, but they didn't make any difference.
I noticed that before, but now on mirage 7.2 the screen will stay off once I turn out off. At least I have not noticed it.

It's not a problem of the screen staying off - they all do that. The problem is that the screen won't automatically turn off.
Turn the option ti keep screen on while plugged in off in settings/development

Isn't that the same thing I mentioned? The one I mentioned is under settings->Applications->Development. Is there a different one?
I think it must be a bug in CM7. I was able to successfully turn off the 'stay awake' toggle in CM9 and it turned the screen off after the display timeout while charging. But choosing the same setting in CM7.2 stable caused the screen to dim after the display timeout like it was getting ready to turn off, but just stayed dim and never did completely turn off while charging.

That's what I found as well. I found an old thread around here stating it was a kernel bug. Looks like it's one that was never fixed.
Slightly off topic, but is CM9 useable as it stands? When I played with it about a month and half ago, it was far too laggy to be used (for me at least).

I haven't used just straight CM9 in a while, but the ParanoidAndroid based on the latest non-opengl build works great. I was having trouble with the prior PA build using opengl.
If I manually turn my screen off while charging (CM7), it immediately turns back on, and stays on. Not sure what's going on there but I'm having a number of odd issues with my Nook.

it could simply mean the the led still flashes when its charging. it does not flash for me because i am charging.
edit: i guess you could get a battery widget or something. if it has a notification... it will light up the led. might have to use that led app or have a rom with led functionality built in like aokp does and then assign a color to the battery deal.
I have no notification light when charging either.. maybe that's normal or bug?
use lightflow.

Correct...no light when charging. If you want that, get Lightflow from the market. Gives you full control of the light including different colors for different notifications which is absolutely a necessity as far as I'm concerned.
Same here, no light when charging/charged. Would have preferred it slowly flashing when charging, and being constant when charged, so you know to disconnect it when fully charged. Will check out the app mentioned above, but prefer these things from stock as having these various apps running in the background would contribute to battery drain I guess?

I know that by default, this phone does have a charging light. Mine worked right out of the box. But after a few days, it stopped working. I also have a friend who had the same issue. His solution was to also use Light Flow... It crushed his battery life. I'd rather avoid using a third party app and figure out why the stock setting is no longer working.
I think that is what many of you are attempting to do, correct?

I use lightflow and monitor my battery daily. It will not crush your battery life in my experience. Check out the thread in the apps section. The app creator posts there and will help with the app.

Battery Light

Is there anyway to get a battery light while charging like on cyanogenmod while running stock rom?
I believe lightflow has that feature. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en

Battery Full Alert

Hi Friends,
My device is GT-I9500 stock (non rooted) and I updated to stock Android 5.0.1 . Is there a way I can set some alarm sound when the charging of battery gets full?
I think I can use other Apps, may be like DU Battery or some. But looking for some out-of-box feature that I am missing?
Thanks.
I don't know about touchwiz lollipop but google's lollipop doesn't have anything like this.
Touchwiz kitkat had a notification which told you it was full. And the LED turned green at 100%.
Guess the only way is if you use apps. I use Battery Doctor to control my charging.

Hi GDReaper, Thank you. Yes 4.x was using LED and even the touchwiz lollipop used the green led for the purpose which goes unseen or unattended. So I was looking for a Sound/Alarm solution for this.
I heard about Battery Doctor but looks like so much advertisement, also looked at the DU Battery (not installed yet).
Thank you.
I used both. Didn't like DU.
Maybe with Tasker you can set an alert for when the battery is 100%.
Or there may be some other apps.
Notifications on full charge
Hey Prabhat,
You can try this app out: Battery Zen by Dwarka on the Google Play Store. It is a lightweight app ( Just 1.2 MB ) and provides customizable notifications to you when the battery is fully charged.
Cheers
Dwarka

Doze & LED Notifications

Hey all,
I'm currently trying to figure out why my phone didn't go into Doze last night. I had quite a few wakes throughout the night and I just installed GSam to try and figure it out. I'm curious if enabling custom LED notifications through a custom ROM will keep the phone from going into Doze?
