Flash Stock JPS Followed by Kyrillos ROM V 7.0 NON OC.
Its the best i´ve seem so far.
Everything works on 7.0 if flashed correctly.
Just dont upgrade to 7.1 after i did my phone started to freeze and bug alot thanks to the KernelTweak script thats in 7.1
By the way, InDroid v5.0 was preety good to, the only issue to me is that my gps couldn´t get signal ,and i dont know why
No krylios for me anymore to much problems

kyrillos v7 is really good, probably the best every day rom. JPQ base seems to be bad, it's not kyrilloses fault
I have a Defy with green lens and I have the latest WIUI V4 installed. It works good for me because the camera and video recorder are working but there's no radio, the gps can't find my location and the battery gets drained too fast when using wi-fi (as compared to MIUI Pikachu or WIUI Hybrid). So which ICS-based ROM works best for you? Thanks.

Epsylon3 CM9. Only panorama doesn't work...

seconded - epsylon
I'm running 120617 and it's more stable than the various cm7s I used before
+1 for Epsylon3's CM9 ROM.
Ditto

Which version? The latest?
The latest has reboots use the second to last one. I find fuzz builds better tho. The latest fuzz build is stable enough, as in no reboots.

+1 to 0617 build of Epsylon3's CM9

is this still the most stable ICS ? I have suddenly started having problems with my wifi (despite havng this build for several months now).
Could upgrade to CM10 but not that keen due to the hassle of reloading apps, losing settings etc.
Cheers
Hello all, I have a Nexus S device.
Before JB I use to flash CM every day and it works great. Now I have installed official JB and I want to speed-up my little machine.
Which ROM/kernel do you recommend?
I need stability and battery life.
Thanks and best regards.

I have this combo too. Everything is smooth and the battery life is very good.

There is no "best" combo and often these types of threads are closed. Why? Every phone runs in a different way. I say pick 1 ROM and kernel, give it 2 days and then switch it up. It is easy to clean install with TB. Example: try Cm10 stable version with latest marmite. Then try it with Matr1x kernel, etc. Then try AOKP with marmite, Matr1x, Trinity, etc. then try another ROM with ....
Find what is best for YOU. We all like different things and all our phones perform different on different combos.
Flash and have fun!
Thanks!
I will try CM10 with marmite.
Best regards.
I'd recommend Paranoid Android with matr1x kernel....lightning fast, very stabile, fully-featured, CM-based, and the best battery life of any combo for me
Everyone has their own preferences, so really it comes down to what you are looking for. Personally I'm running Strawberry (Metal Dragon Overlord or whatever) and Marmite 7.1. I'm not quite ready to test the 4.2 ROMs, but I know people who are running them and loving them.
Hell - people like to go back to Gingerbread!

I've found AOKP with the Marmite 7.1.3 kernel works well for me. Fast, stable, and good battery life.

Me too!
I'm on RasbeanJelly + AirKernel, great combo too.
I'm on CM10 but haven't flashed a different kernel..
Really happy of phone's performance so far but perhaps battery life is improvable..
Since so many of you are happy with Marmite I guess I'll give it a shot..
I'm coming from AOKP JB milestone1 which was the best JB ROM i had tried since to days ago.I now have Jellyshot with marmite kernel and everything is smooth and stable. If you want a JB rom try this.
Could somebody port jellyshot to the ns4g?

Ok people,
I have CM10 and followed your advise.. just flashed Marmite 7.1 kernel
I was expecting to see in kernel version (in phone settings) something like Marmite 7.1 blabla.. instead I see an 3.0.52-bedalus_CM-0347--blablabla..
I know mr Bedalus is the developer of Marmite, but anyway I just wanna make sure and make this stupid question..
Do you see the same blabla kernel version as I do or have I somehow not flashed the kernel right
forgive my noobness

Sounds like everything is fine. Enjoy. Try other ROM and kernel combinations to find the one you like best. The Nexus S development section is still active, if not more active since 4.2, have fun.

Can someone please suggest any stable ROM to me for the defy red lens. I need to give this phone my mother who is not a power user and I just need the phone to be very stable, no hiccups. I'm currently running the latest cm10 quarx build which is quite buggy.
Thanks in advance
I suggest the stock rom

Do you guys know which rom is the most stable one?
I mean ICS or higher, because I've been using Aurora since a long time and it works almost everything but the battery is kinda weird, the sd card unmouts sometimes and i've also used Andromadus 4.2.2 but the camera doesn't work and it has some random reboots.
Is there a more stable rom for the u8800-51 than those, is there a good rom that i'm missing? can you guys tell me please
Thanks
I think slimbean 7.8 or cm7 by gkalensis is the best
