I'm using the latest Cyanogen and am getting low on space messages in my toolbar, what's up with that?
I'm 100% Apps2SD so I shouldn't be low on space, what can I do to resolve it?
I checked my bigger applications to see if I could clear their cache to no avail.
My phone did this when I had partitioned my SD card wrong so perhaps that's your problem?
That would be weird as I haven't messed with my SD card in months though.
go into settings> sd card and phone storage> Sd Card secondary and see how much space it says is available.
Are you using StreamFurious?
I was in exactly the same spot you are.
Turns out the last StreamFurious update that I installed was eating up all the onboard cache for apps, and it didn't have a "clear cache" option when looking in the "Manage applications" setting.
I eventually performed a Nandroid backup and wiped the device, then reinstalled all apps. This was a pain, but worked.
Now I'm using rCherryPlayer until the StreamFurious devs straighten matters out.
The most that I've ever used up was 36mb. I cleared the cache for my Browser and Market and it brought me back down to 17mb.

StreamFurious was indeed installed but I never used it, the problem seems to have started around the time that I installed it so I believe that would explain the problem I was having.
I uninstalled it but I'm still getting the error.
Does anybody know what else I can do?
Try clearing your cache. Even with Apps2SD many apps (Maps, Gmail, etc) still save cache to your internal memory. At least that solved my memory problem anyway.
I use ClearMe but you can do it manually as well.
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.help_to-clearme-jmwz.aspx
Also try TA utility from the market, moves all major cache to your sd. do a search in the market for cache and you will find it. For some reason searching the apps name doesn't pull it up. Anyways I have been using this for month and don't even go over 18 mb used.
Installed CacheMate and TA Utility and have 8.16 now. Still have the low space icon

Well you have the right tools now... But hate to say it but your going to have to do a wipe. Then run the two apps and all should be good. Also watch the apps you download because some take up alot of space on your internal and you can't clear it without a wipe. Good luck buddy and happy Thanksgiving
hope someone can help me ASAP. i was under the impression that my SD card would allow me to run CM7, but it wont. and i don't really want to go and buy another one.
so i have a few questions.
first, can i restore the nook color completely to stock to the point where if i had to return it for warranty reasons it would be good.
secondly, does CM7 from the internal memory run good/just as well/better than the SD card.
third, how large is the /data partition for apps if you install to the internal memory.
hope someone can respond asap. thanks in advance.
1. yes
2. better
3. it's your choice, by default B&N NC v1.2 comes with 5GB /data while the previous version of NC comes with 1GB /data. You can choose to have 1GB, 2GB or 5GB

thanks, and for 3, if i install CM7, how do i get the 5GB /data? because that would be best, i don't want to run out of space like on my nexus one.
3. CM7 has nothing to do with it. What you're looking for is the re-partition/re-format the system.
Note: 5GB /data is way way way more than enough for Android apps.
Note: /data is for the installed apps, it's not the storage that you can put your mp3, pictures, ...., just be clear.

little confused then, only devices i've ever messed with are phones, so this is new to me. is there anything i have to do to make sure i get the 5gb data, or do i just get that when installing CM7.
And i've been around for a while so i know that 5GB is an insane amount and more than enough, but it's always good to have more than enough.
Do you know yet how your NC is currently partitioned? Most recent Nooks have the 5GB /data, indicated by a blue sticker on the box. To confirm, go to Settings>About NookColor (that may not be exact--haven't had stock in a while). If it indicates less than 1GB storage, you have 5GB /data.

As I mentioned in previous post, if your NC is prior to v1.2.0, then you should "automatically" has 1GB /data. If your NC is v1.2, then you would have 5GB /data, meaning, it's default shipped products from B&N.
If you want to have 5GB /data
a. if your NC is v1.2 then you don't have to do anything.
b. if your NC is an earlier version, then you can re-partition to have 5GB /data
looks like i have the 1.2, i see a blue circle sticker on the back and in the unit i have 1.2 software and 1GB of available storage.
thanks for everything guys now to get CM7 on it.
Alright, so I recently (like 30 minutes ago) installed texasice latest ICS evervolv build and I've come across an error, but this isn't tied to this ROM, I've had this error on CM7 as well. To the point:
My "free" apps aren't showing up in "My apps" in Market, only apps I've paid for. There's nothing wrong with my sdcard or ext partition so I'll rule that out of the equation. I suspect this might be because of the low cache partition. ICS has a cache partition (for market cache) of 16 megabytes and stock partition size is 97-ish megabytes. I've checked and apparently I have 14 megabytes left out of these 16 so where is the problem?
i don't think it is cache since it is only free ones. i would say market, and maybe the it reads your particular phone--not an expert by any means
i am sure you cleared data/cache in app mgt
can you try an older version or reflash gapps
seem to remember this issue coming up before but don't remember where
ken
Hmm.. strangely enough, my apps now show. I think wiping market cache did the trick.
Sent from my Nexus One
glad you got it--
I have a Nook Color that was deregistered. I never registered it and followed these instructions to boot to CWM, and I then installed the latest Encore CM9 and the CM9 GApps.
When I go into Apps, it shows that there's only around 700mb free.
I installed DiskUsage and it shows /mnt/emmc, /mnt/sdcard, /rom, and [Root required]. /mnt/emmc I'm guessing is the NC's internal memory - it's 5.1gb and full of B&N stuff, Good Housekeeping, etc. I tested by using a manga reader application to see where it downloads by default, and sure enough it saved to the SD card by default.
I'm guessing the rooting directions excluded something or I may have a different version of a NC than I thought. Is there any proper set of instructions I should follow? I just burned the 2gb image to a 2gb microSD card from here, but would that be the root cause of the issue - use a 2gb microSD, only have 2gb available? In any case, I've got that image burned and CWM set up per the same thread's instructions. Do I need to do anything else? Is there some kind of partition tool I have to use, kind of like diskpart on a Windows boot CD to delete and mount partitions on the NC before continuing?
You have everything right. With the older Nook Colors they came with 1000MB set aside for app storage and 5000MB for media storage. Usually the 1000 MB is plenty for apps. You have used about 300MB so far storing installed apps and settings for your system apps leaving you with 700MB left. That is a lot. Apps do not take much room. Media is where you eat up storage, pictures, movies, books, etc.
The CWM card you used does not effect your nook storage.
You can repartition if you want, but your setup works well for most people.

How hard is it to repartition? I've got around 2gb of manga I copied off my former Touchpad that I was hoping to copy over. I know, the easy answer would be to just buy a bigger microSD card but I wanted to see what I can get out of the Nook itself first.

It is not really hard to repartition. There is a thread here that tells you how to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14101197
As I said earlier, the original nooks had 1GB for app storage (/data) and 5GB for media (emmc). The newer nooks came with 5GB for apps and 1GB for media. The author of the above thread offers zips to repartition to either scheme and even included a 2GB app/4GB media version.
I don't know what manga is, is it media or apps? You already have the optimum setup for media. A bigger SD is generally used for more media storage. I really think you might not understand how each partition is used. The app partition (/data) only stores the app program itself and some minor settings files. All of the data that a program uses like books, document files, etc. or downloaded things like music, etc are stored on media partitions like the 5GB media partition (emmc) or sdcard. So I'm not sure you need to change anything. You only want to change if you want more room to store many very large programs (not the files they use).

Manga's Japanese comics, so in this case media.
In the repartition thread, would I be using the 1.1 "old" partition zip? And am I just booting to a CWM SD card and running the zip after backing up the device? Or is there a different set of steps since it's a rooted device already?
I may give it the test of time and see if I do need to futz with the partition table after all, but if I do I'd like to have the basics ready to go.

From what you said in your first post you already have the old partition scheme. No need to change anything. Anything you do will give you less media storage space which is what you need for your comix.
You do not need to be rooted. All you need is the ability to boot to a CWM card and backup and flash things.
I had Asphalt 8 installed on my phone while running a GPE rom. Then I decided to try CM12 out. So I got the rom, wiped everthing (except internal) and flashed the rom. When I restored the game using Titanium Backup it asked me to download the data again. I, of course, thought it's because of the wipe.
After some time I got bored of the game and deleted it (including the data). Then I wanted to go back to the GPE rom. So I got the latest zip, wiped everything (except internal) and flashed. Next thing I know is that the Asphalt 8 game data is back in the /android/obb folder, even though I deleted it.
So I guess GPE and CM12 use different partitions for this or how is it possible?
And how can I access those "hidden" partitions to delete the data from them? Without changing roms back and forth. Cause, even though I can't see the files and folders on the internal memory, it still uses the space.
Google likely restored the data from the data backup they take of the phone, if you agree to it when setting up your Google account. Simply delete the game again, and this time remove it from your app list in the Play Store. The next time around it shouldn't restore.

They restored 1+ GB of data without me knowing? And without an internet connection? As I was not connected to a wi-fi. I usually also opt, at rom set-up, to not have my stuff backed up to googles servers.
So that's very unlikely.
And even if it were so, why do those files take space on my internal starge?
The MicroSD card is intended for your stuff, not app data. Therefore, to adhere to Google guidelines apps store their parts in internal storage. Now, if you didn't have data of any kind active and opted out of Google backing up data, the only possibilities I can think of are that Titanium Backup didn't delete the data, or the internal storage was not fully wiped.

I already said that I generally don't wipe the internal storage. I deleted data folder manually using ES File Explorer and emptied the recycle bin while on CM12. On GPE the data was back.
I did the math. Everything on my internal memory combined uses about 1 GB. But it shows me that it has 4GB used. So I went back to GPE, deleted the game data manually, and flashed CM12 back. Now it shows 1 GB used space on the internal memory.
Let me give you another example. A friend had GTA: San Andreas while on GPE. I flashed CM12 on that phone, but did not delete the game data, nor wiped the internal storage, just a simple /cache, /data and /dalvik-cache wipe.
On CM12 she didn't install GTA anymore and there is no trace of the GTA data folder in /android/obb.
Here is the thing: Something is taking up nearly 5 GB on the internal storage. I checked every folder in the internal storage (hidden and visible) and everything combined adds up to a max of 1.5 GB.
Something is using space. That something is the GTA data. It has almost 3 GB of data. Fits perfectly to the used space.
The only explanation I have is that they use different partitions of the internal memory or a different data format. Otherwise I can't explain how the same data doesn't show up on GPE and CM12 if I didn't delete it.
