I'm always used to using the volume buttons on my phone to change tracks but I can't do it on my S4 unless I flash a custom non touchwiz rom. Which I dont want tondo because it'll delete all the touchwiz features on my S4. Is there any way to change my music tracks using the volume or home button?

Sorry there's no way to do this on stock, that is why I'm running CM10.1 which can do all that you are talking about and more.
Will the features from roms such as CM 10.1, AOKP & PA be available on a custom Touchwiz rom?

you CAN in fact do it on a stock rooted rom.. if u don't know how to do it simply say so. but please don't mislead someone. to do it, just install xposedInstaller 2.1.4, and xposedtweakbox 1.4.0 then go to the misc section of tweakbox, enable it and then reboot.
Thanks!! Just what I was looking for.

Sorry guys I honestly thought there was no way, while I was on stock I was looking for an iron but I couldn't find it...
I installed all the software and followed the steps above, however PowerAmp still would not change track with the volume keys held down when the screen is off.
I'm using WanamLite Rom.
Hello,
me neither. I also tried the two apps, mentioned above, but won't work at all
hope someone will find a solution in the future
Still no solution to this?

Will that replace the Adam Kernel in my WanamLite firmware? Will it cause conflicts or issues?
Thanks in advance.

No, it's framework, not a kernel. Also you shouldn't have problems if your rom is aosp and deodexed.

Nope. Doesn't change kernel.

I think WanamLite is based off the stock Samsung firmware and framework. I don't think it's AOSP and I don't know what de-odexing is, apologies.
Just install Headset Button Controller from the market.
Its soooo good I bought it!

Xposed
Xposed framework works just as well. Just remember to enable the tweakbox under Modules tab in xposed installer.

Ya I tried the 2 apps u posted didnt work after rebooting twice but unchecked/unmodified everything that "I" checked/modified in the module except the volume then did a soft boot and that worked. idk if it was just all the thing i checked/modified or the soft boot or it just needed a 3rd reboot
Hi there. This is my first post, sorry if my english is not that good.
Is there a way to put the menu "button" like in the Eclipse Rom? Any modification or any patch?
Like that but without the search button.
Thanks.

On stock ROM - the answer is No (or if anyone will be able to patch stock SystemUI.apk to add legacy menu button). But you could flash CyanogenMod 10.1 or 10, or any other ROM based on CM. They all have NavBar settings.

Yep. You shouldn't need it anyways, as modern apps have an in-app menu, and it appears automatically for legacy apps

Are you running a custom ROM?
All I did was download home themes and installed them, they all worked but then when I reset the phone this happened.

Had the same issue as you. But then I installed that apk I sent you and all is well.
Maybe try a full wipe and start over.

This isn't GEL. This is just the GEL dialer which allows you to search for businesses within the dialer like the Nexus 5.
And yea, you need to be rooted for this to work.
Ops! My bad. I didn't see "dialer"

The appearance isn't going to change. Did you try looking for a business in the search field? And are you sure you aren't hitting the stock phone icon?

Yes I tried searching several businesses. And there is only one phone icon. I placed it in system/priv-app and changed permissions to 0644.

You're supposed to create a shortcut for the new dialer and make that your new phone icon.
If this happens on your phone, the only solution we found was to use Nova Launcher because it has a feature that allows you to run a specific activity within an app. To set this up:
1. Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.
2. Choose "Shortcuts"
3. Select "Activities"
4. Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
This will put a shortcut to the dialer on your home screen. At this stage, you can use this to access Google Dialer. It's not the cleanest solution, but it does work.

If you're not running a custom launcher like Nova, you can also use this app to create the shortcut:

No prob. Glad you got it working.
So I installed the APK and added a shortcut Nova Launcher and I can search for businesses and stuff just fine, but when I try to make a call in the dialer it crashes. I downloaded the apk from 2 different mirrors so that isn't the issue. I would try to flash the zip but I don't have the slightest idea how to do that.

Did you follow these steps?
2. Flash the ZIP file in a custom recovery, or copy the APK file directly into /system/priv-app.
3. If you opted to move the APK file manually, you'll need to set the permissions on the APK to 644 after moving it into its proper folder. Do this either through your file manager app or via a shell.
4. Reboot your phone.

Well I got it to work somehow. I'm not entirely sure what I did differently this time but oh well.

Do you have root access?
Is there any way around if you don't have root?
Self promotion aside, I created a thread for this a while back. This dialer works flawlessly without the need for nova or an activity launcher.

You don't need an additional module to get fast boot, boot loader, etc in the power menu.

Weird I don't have that option. I bet it's because I have the TMobile version. I wonder if there's a way to edit a config to enable that option.

It's either that,or,a part of an update that we haven't got on T-Mobile yet (the extended power menu is MIA on my stock/unrooted T-Mo OP6T as well).
yep, I dont have that on TMO either..
