Guys
My N9005 some times shows incorrect location on weather widgets including the stock widget to HD widgets also apps like four square i live in Sri Lanka and it shows that i am in Abu Dhabi :crying::crying::crying::crying: , I had the same problem with my previous note 2 (But it happend after updating to Android 4.3 on Note 2 be fore it was OK) that i sold and thought with new device the problem would not be there, But it turned out to be not what i expected . Its really annoying and couldn't find a solution to fix this i faced this problem with Stock rom on both devices,
Does anyone here has similar problems or is there a possible fix ...
thanx in advance
If you're rooted if i remember rightly theres an app called "better gps fix" or something like that, quite a lot of people have reported success with it...
If you're not rooted, (same as me), i have the same issue, i live in bournemouth (south coast uk) and it says i'm in france! i just keep refreshing it and it eventually gets the right location.

something you might have to consider is the wifi networks that are around you...
if for some reason, one (or more) wifi network is not mapped correctly, you might get a bad position when your device is reading the position from wifi and cell tower location.
One thing you can try is to get a GPS app that will show you the coordinates of your position... if get the real position with the GPS signal but incorrect with wifi/cell tower, you know that there is something wrong around you with the networks... one app that I'm using for this is GpsWifiPosDifference https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.nakajimadevnakajima.GpsWifiPosDifference
If the GPS position is correct... but the wifi position is way off, sadly you can not do anything about this... except maybe continue using Google Maps and hope to get this fixed sometimes in the future. There is an option in Google Maps to "optimize" the position... I don't know what it's called in English (or other languages), but in French it's called "Astuces précision localisation". I think that this option is helping Google to fix inconsistencies with wifi positions.
Thanx for all the replys guys......

Hi,
I have a S2 and a couple months back I didn't have any problems with my GPS. Now however, whenever I open the navigation and type a location, it finds me on the map and highlights the route to take, however at the bottom of the screen it says "searching for GPS" and therefore does not starts the navigation.
I have rooted the phone last month. I am not sure if this is the problem and I don't know how to unroot the phone so I can't check if this is the problem.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
Open maps first, wait for it to locate you in maps. Then exit maps and re enter navigation address and it should work
Happened to me when i Got an alluminium case

Thanks for the help. It seems to work when I open the maps first and then open the navigation later like bundi22 said.
Why is it weird like this? Is there anyway of making it work by opening the navigation straight away, instead of going onto the maps first?
im having a similar issue, 7 to 10 sats in view, no fix, happened on the last two days, before, fix was in 3~5 secs, anyone?

Hey guys what I found worked really well for me was to use an app called fasterfix from play store to change the ntp server to my country which made it much better (resets on rom flash) also mobile data works much better than wifi for a fix and very rarely it just gets stuck so a quick reboot might help!
I'm having the same issue since yesterday, just not finding any GPS satellites, but it was fine two days ago.

Hi sorry to hear that but does this issue persist across reboots? I doubt the problem is due to rooting but sometimes it can help to either wipe cache and dalvik or re-flash your rom. I have had random GPS issues on some firmware versions but for me personally DXLPB has been the best. I would start by trying small changes like wiping caches first though and save changing roms for later if this is your only issue. Also, sometimes performing a full wipe can fix small bugs like this but a full wipe can take a lot of time so let's save that for a last but possible option! Good luck with it though, I know how annoying it can be if the GPS plays up!

I've got the same . Not sure if the weather has got anything to do with it. it has been very cloudy for x days here in Scotland.
I have never had any problems with gps until now. About 10 satellites in view but no fix. It drives me crazy because I run with endomondo using gps signal.
I read about mods that improve gps fix but I can not find it now.

Are you sure you used fasterfix properly? Did it actually changed your Current Server? My one by default was set to an american/canadian one, hence why I wasn't getting any fixes. Changed it to my country and now it works like a charm .. Select your country/region and hit go and make sure the server link in Current Server updates, then use GPS Test app to test your GPS.
What rom are you guys using? I've noticed that my GPS sucks since installing XWLPM (Russia 4.04). I tried flashing back to a different modem but it didn't help. I'm patiently waiting for a new 4.04 ROM which might help the situation out. I've tried fasterfix as well as several other programs but it doesn't help much. My phone used to get a gps lock within 10 seconds indoors and within 5-7 seconds outdoors. Now it takes minutes...

I'm currently running on CM9 nightly, stock CM Kernel, KH3 modem. Try testing out a few different regions in FasterFix. Use the GPS Test app to test your GPS. And, obviously, make sure you're outside or close enough to a window to get a clear signal.

I live in Sweden. I've tested: stock XWLPG; RR with kernels: CM9 (not the last one though), Siyah 3.4.1, NEAK 2.1.1; CM9 RC2, CM9 0721.
Results:
- Instant GPS lock on stock XWLPG (blinking icon, fix within few seconds) and on RR (no blinking icon, fix within less than ten seconds) but only with Siyah and NEAK kernels. No problems whatsoever.
- Unfortunately both CM9 builds and RR with CM9 kernel gave horrible scores. It took 4-8 minutes to fix.
I find it really hard to believe that gps problems are weather-related (at least in my place).
Samsung's GPS always hard to link the satellites, it must work with A-GPS assist, you can download faster fix from google play, and assigned a agps sever near your region, that's helpful

Hey all...
i've got a simple problem on my nexus 4 running PA 3.65 ..
i keep getting a notice that says (Restricted Access Changed) and when i pull down the notification drawer it disappears right after..
it shows up every 5-10 mins, it's not really annoying but when i activate HALO .... well it is
if there is no solution to this problem then maybe someone knows the app that causes this notification so i can Black list it from HALO....
Thanks in advance
That message "restricted access changed" is it for certain app? I am running HALO and I don't see any message like that from the system or any stock app.

i think it has something to do with my carrier or network ... because when i remove the sim it doesn't show up anymore
i don't want to go through all system apps and black list them from HALO ... that would take a LONG time
Yep its your carrier. Usually happens when there is a a lot of stress on the towers and network.

I think it has to do with the new app lock feature on PA. It's still buggy.

Thanks guys you've been really helpful ... i fixed the problem by Black listing all of the apps related to phone calls and carrier network (Not sure which app exactly)

HI
i have bought a new mobile and i got same error till i inserted sim card in to it.
restricted access changed
restricted access changed nexus 4 i got the same thing but mine never went away right after that i lost network calls in out text in out but data still worked not wifi data i tried 5 sims from wind rogers fido bell nothing worked tryed to get network it would not so anything im with wind canada they tryed not go its a pos i hsde to send it off to lg to be fixed
i live just in the center of Zagreb so the stressed network could be it, but the strange thing is that until a few weeks ago it happened rarely, since than i'm practically used to having that permanent notification up there
the 2nd strange thing is that I never once lost any data, calling or texting, its working perfectly only this is coming up..
i'm running a rooted HTC One International with AOKP Milestone 4.2 (July 2013 release)
I'm posting my experience in hope someone who solved it will let me know how

I'm getting the same issue, me too living in the same place, but i'm with an untouched, unrooted Sony Xperia Z1 (it comes with 4.3).
I'm with VIP as operator, and until a week ago all was working fine, with a good LTE signal.
But the strangest thing is that i'm having this noisy issue only when i'm at home (near the center of Zagreb), never happened in no other places in the town.
I'm pretty sure it is an operator issue, cose i've tried the sim on a non-LTE smartphone with the same results...

Hi Everyone,
I've seen three Note 3 on 4.4.2 and they ALL experience GPS resets and different times of the day. Unfortunately I do not have a Note 3 still on 4.3 and courtesy of Samsung I cannot downgrade. A number of users report that the issue was introduced on the N9005 with version 4.4.2.
I'm going to buy another Note 3 and NOT upgrade if this fixes the issue but I'd like to know whether anyone is using their GPS on the N9005 EXTENSIVELY, during the whole day and is not experiencing ANY odd GPS resets, GPS fix lost or other GPS related issues.
I don't want to know about the time it takes to get a fix or the quality of the signal. ALL of the phones I got to look at lost ALL satellites in places where there was NO reason to lose the fix, i.e. out in the open with clear view of the sky and ALL of them did so repeatedly.
If a new phone will fix the issue but I don't want to end up with another dud which I will then have to return. Because the issue is intermittent and somehow related to the time of day AND can only be reproduced outdoors this would be one painful exercise.
So if you do use GPS regularly to navigate etc please let me know how yours works and version of OS you're on.
TIA
I use mine about 6-8 hours a day.
Mainly to keep track of where the train I am on currently is and for navigating streets. And to map out and follow a route when I'm doing an urban or landscape shoot. (Photography).
I've never had issues with my N9005 DBT 4.4.2 NB7, nor on any of the previous versions. It's always accurate and always constant. (Except when I'm in a tunnel or on the tube. But that's physics 101.)
It has never lost all satellites, nor has it ever lost the connection without a perfectly valid reason.
I've done a factory reset and my GPS still takes over 10 minutes to find my location....... If it finds it at all.

Sure, my GPS is usually fine. Locks quickly and reception is OK. Obviously I lose signal in tunnels and in the CBD sometimes so this is not about that.
I could be in the middle of nowhere with nothing blocking my sight although it's obviously most annoying while driving. I lost the signal when I should not. It usually looks just like the GPS resets or so, without moving much at all the signal will drop from 20 satellites down to four then none within 2 or 3 seconds. Then it slowly comes back, gets a lock and works fine again. The lock could then last for a minute or two and then it just happens again. This seems to mostly happen in the afternoon to early evening.....don ask why :-|
I've tried just about everything. Initially I thought it was a hardware defect but my wife's Note 3 does exactly the same thing......what are the odds of having two Note 3 (bought different places about 2 weeks apart) the exact same problem? I had a quick look at a third one (not one of ours so I didn't get to spend much time with it) but it seemed to do the same thing as well, i.e. lost the signal while standing still with no buildings (and mountains etc) around me.

Hi everyone,
Sorry to bother with that, but i have an issue with my Galaxy Note 3 LTE, Cyanogen 11 M8.
Fresh install, everything wiped.
It seems that the GPS is fully down... GPS Status is unable to see or lock anything, Navigation freeze etc....
Maps is able to find my position, but only with network enabled.... if i disabled it... it is lost
In GPS Status, app stay "looking for GPS localization", and when a start an app that need the gps, the Gps Status appears a few second, with an "X".
I neved had this kind of issue, and i didn't find any clues over Internet (but i've seen people with the same issue)
I'm almost sure it was working in M7... i didn't use the gps since i upgrade the phone.
So, has anyone an idea about my problem ?
Many thanks
I had the same issue with the same configuration...
For me, it had to do with the 3G phone tower which appears not to be updated to certain parameters...
This happened when I was in a tiny village of the South West of the UK...
I then try the GPS in other cities, 50 miles away, and everything went back to normal...
I live in London, and travel abroad monthly; and no issues there also...
I would suggest to try your GPS in an other area...

Thanks,
I also live in a small city in France, i hope your solution will also work for me !
I will try tomorrow, in a "bigger city"
Unfortunately... i took my car and drive to be closer of a big city... no success.
It seams that the GPS is down... 'cause i launch some apps that give the signal received by the phone... and it appears that received absolutly nothing. (0, nada, the void)
I've tried to revert to M7 : no GPS at all.
Tried some gps.conf found on the forum : nothing.
It start to scare me, i hope the GPS is not "broken" (could i have killed the GPS antenna ?)
Anyway, i'm still looking for any clues or a way to check the GPS log.
Thanks

GPS connect has NOTHING to do with the SIZE of the city the only factor SHOULD be view of clear SKY.
I was going to say that GPS only works when you're outdoors. Trying to get a signal wont work when in your home etc
For info :
My GPS problem seems to be related to Android 4.4.4.
There's many people complaining that the GPS became innacurate or simply unavailable with this version.
And, it seems that the Cyanogen team has issues making the GPS work for Cyanogen 11 M9 (it's on the wiki).
Currently, there's no fix available. (for some people, rewrinting all APN worked, even if it's not related to GPS, etc etc etc... there's many solution available, but not working for everyone.)
Same issue here, prognosis for it should be posted here, Thx.
Hi Everyone,
If there's people following this thread, i'm still looking for a solution...
Here's all the thing i've tried, without success :
- Reinstall / change Modem
- Back to stock rom (GPS still not working)
- Format /system and reinstall
- Re-Partition
- NV Rebuild
Each time, it's the same thing : i start GPS Status, and i get the icon with the cross, and nothing happen.

Each time, i was never able to get a GPS signal.
If you ODIN'd back to stock and GPS is still down on stock ROM, then you probably have a hardware issue. There is a GPS fix thread on the forum with pics of the hardware breakdown.
Hi everyone,
I can't explain what happened... but my GPS is back. hallelujah !
I saw this morning that the Cyanogen 11 M10 for the hlte (Galaxy Note 3) was available.
I update the Cyanogen i had installed (M9)... and test GPS right after that... nothing.
And then, i tested it tonight, the satellite dish appeared with the cross... but i was able to "touch" it with my finger : And then the icon dissapeared, and the new icon with the sattelite dish and the wave appeared and i saw GPS Signal !
I got a lock after a few sec.
Sorry guys, i don't have any answer about what happened, and how tthe GPS got back to work.
But anyway, thanks for the help !

Hi everyone,
I can't explain what happened... but my GPS is back. hallelujah !
I saw this morning that the Cyanogen 11 M10 for the hlte (Galaxy Note 3) was available.
I update the Cyanogen i had installed (M9)... and test GPS right after that... nothing.

Dang!!! I Wanted to sound smart. Lol. Jk, glad its working.
I'll be to the point. I have bought an O2 (UK) N9005 for me, to be used in India. I think it is completely unlocked as it is perfectly running each and every ROM meant for N9005. I am facing GPS lock issues with the device ever since. While on a particular ROM (Darklord S6) the GPS works fine (temporarily until restart) with the help of the app "GPS status and fix". This made me think if the GPS is region dependent, or it depends on the kernel (as referred by my fellow XDAian). I need some expert help to find a way to fix this problem for good!
Kernel should be the driver .
I would start with stock O2 firmware .
Nah, I don't think its kernel or ROM or anything but the GPS antenna and antenna only. So mainly and totally hardware. I have weird GPS issues too! On both S4 and Note 2 I had super fast GPS lock, indoor, outdoor doesn't matter. They both were Exynos versions though. But with my Note 3 (N9005) I can't get a lock inside. I have to go near windows or outside to get a lock, and then that lock stays inside too until I reboot the phone. However rebooting an Android phone will reset the A-GPS data, so its normal to not get a lock after a reboot.
You can just change the region to India, by using Faster Fix app, or just by using the Indian GPS.conf file, see if it helps in anything.

I have been an Indian Note 2 user too. Had no GPS problems with that. Will try your suggestions now and see what happens..
EDIT: Hey bro! While the FasterFix app didn't solve the problem (also, Its dev said not to use it on Android 4.2+), I just discovered an app on play store that worked miraculously! It has fixed the problem for good. My phone catches the satellites in just 1 second now! And that's when I am indoors. Haven't tested it outdoors yet! It's unbelievable to say at least!! I strongly recommend you to give it a try..

Dude this app is magic, the urban kids will use the word dope I suppose.
However I don't understand one thing, right now I am on ground floor of my premise and no windows are open or anything, so naturally there are no satellites in view, but still this app says GPS location is set! I mean what the heck! I will try to go to first floor and see what happens when the phone actually catches some satellites, but too lazy to move now
You could go HERE ^ DL the GPS.conf file for your country (or closest if not listed) - it helps. Don't forget to change the permissions...

Yep. And the gps is really working. Maps locks it in no time, and accuweather widget tracks you down in a second..
