hi everyone right now im on an errand for a friend of mine, i've been searching and i haven't found something that can serve me, i have found that i need to upgrade to froyo to install cm9, well in fact my friend will be fine if i just can put gb on his defy so if it is a real mess to install ics on this phone i think i will stick to cm 7.2 or 7 it doesnt matter i just need it to work fine and that he is able to install some apps that my firend isnt able to, i havent done root so if someone provide me with a good way to do it i would apreciate it a lot.
Does not mind whether you want CM7 or CM9 - first you should upgrade to froyo, best way through moto RSDLite program.
Upgrading to froyo will let you always downgrade to froyo again and you will have a way to any proper CM7 or CM9.
All info u can find here and here
U have to root, install sndInint, check whether u have green or red lens and choose any proper CM7 or CM9 to flash
Always do all steps as in threads - then u will not get into trouble
Hi everyone,
I was trying to post this in another thread but I'm unable to post in the Development sector.
I have a Motorola Defy+ running the Android 2.3.5, I've tested the following ROM's:
CM9 by quarx
CM9 by Epsylon
Both runs just fine, but I was thinking this weekend to test another rom's to have new experiences and found out about the MIUI, which seens to be a very good rom.
But the fact is that I'm facing some troubles trying to run this rom.
Everytime I try to apply it, the Recovery says to me that the install went ok, but once I reboot the phone, I got stuck in the Motorola Bootloader screen, and I have to flash a stock SBF again.
I've tried the STABLE (GB) and the BETA (ICS), both got the same problem.
Different versions of 2ndinit (1.4, 2.0, 2.3).
Does anyone know why I'm having this problems?
I would appreciate any help.
Best regards,
AFAIK, MIUI requires Froyo kernel and Defy+ has GB kernel.

MIUI is a froyo based ROM.
Downgrade to froyo if you need to flash it..

Hi all, first of all i want to mention that i have researched and read everything i can about Defy unlocking and still have some questions which bother me because the Defy+ comes with ginger as def OS.
I want to get a Defy+ (which is carrier locked and i don't know the exact operator it is from) that should run on a modified CM7.2 or maybe some other ROM at time as 2init. Most of the tutorials are for Defy(non +) and CM 7.1/Froyo.
The questions that bother me are:
1. Will the method for softunlocking work on Defy+
2. Will it work on any other CM BASED ROM like 7.2 official/MIUI/Pikachu/etc, and must i have a certain SBF(full)
3. Is the soft unlocking method bound to certain radio version and will it work in Europe?
Here are the links i find the most simple:
http://translate.google.rs/translat....motofan.ru/index.php?showtopic=1728077&st=80
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447950
I know the tutorials are relatively clear but it means allot to get confirmation from people that have done this as i can buy the defy onlu once .
Thx in advance.

1. Yes, the method for rooting, and installing 2nd init is the same in the Defy+, the 2nd init 2.0 works fine on Defy+.
2. The only important thing when flashing a ROM is over which kernels is the ROM based, for the Defy+ you must use the GB kernel version of the ROMs, you can't use a kernel with a lower BL version than the one your SBF has.
3. Each ROM has a Baseband switcher where you can set the Radio frecuency.
Any doubt, just ask.
Ok ,thx for the info.
One more question, will the soft unlock work on ANY CM7.2(GB based) ROM? And will it work on CM9/10 later on?(If u know)
Found the info thx for the reply, everything is ready now .

I found after reading that have upgragde my bootloader to BL7 doing that.
So now when I try to install CM I got many error
CM7.2 got an error in the bootloader on reboot (froyo based rom I think)
CM9 got a message "the setup wizard stop to work" so i'm stuck there
CM11.0 refuse to install zip or refuse to install update-recovery.zip
I need help to get my defy back to CM
Thanks
I just succeed to install cm11.2 with this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737990
But I would like to go back to cm7.2 which was so stable and fast.
Since I reflash the phone I got touch screen issue(unresponsive or going crazy)
So how to go back to cm7.2
Thanks
Hi! Downgrade of BL7 is not possible, therefore, I think you'll have problems with CM7 based rom.

Hello XDA Users, I have a very basic question regarding my ACER A500 upgrade. So far, I have tried every single avenue to upgrade my tablet to ICS but nothing worked. I am not sure, is this because of current HC ROM with ICS unlocked bootloader, but every time I flash any ICS ROM, I am stuck at booting primary kernel message from (V8 unlocked ICS bootloader) or ACER boot logo. But if I flash HC full ROM (3.1/3.2), everything works just fine. Some may say this is a repeat post, but I didn't get any answers from my earlier question, so decided to rephrase the question in simple manner.
At one point, I had ICS ROM successfully running on tablet with V8 bootloader but one fine day it decided not to boot up at all. And I have to go back to basic using TDV4.
Now I am on HC Rooted ROM with Thor CWM based recovery and V8 bootloader. If you need any further details to get me on ICS, please let me know.
Thanks
