Transfer Data 4s to N3 - Free or Paid? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone recommend a free "reliable" program to transfer my data on my 4s to my new N3, or do I need a "paid" program?
(there is too much info on Google to sift through, I respect/trust the recommendations of you guys).

try with moborobo, is the best for this, is free and you can transfer all the information you need.

I used the samsung smart switch. http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/
Just back up your iphone (I had a 4s as well) and then plug in your note 3, run the program and select the things you want to transfer. Worked perfectly for me except for emails, which I just entered my user accounts and passwords, synced, and done. Everything was there from photos to contacts to text messages. Actually-music didn't transfer but that was a plus for me cause I wanted to get rid of itunes anyway, so i just dragged and dropped everything into my sd card that I ended up using.

Android sms to Iphone

Hi, I was looking into getting the iphone 4 but wanted to find out the best way to get my sms from my g1 to the sim or iphone. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
bleh why would you wanna do that??? I'd say your best bet is to find a phone store that has a cellbrite machine. Or don't be a zombie and just get a sick new Android device and don't give in to the hype of the sub-par iPhone 4.

AFAIK SIM cards can only hold 20 texts, that is the least of your problems though.
As of iOS 3.1.3 you can't copy texts from the SIM to the Phone. Also there are no apps that will let you edit SMS entries on the iPhone.
In shot, it isn't feasable...
64K Sims will store 50 sms', 128K will hold 100.
the cellbrite solution as mentioned already will be your BEST bet, which can be done in the store, i doubt an Apple store will have this device, so go to the phone store.
although, if that's not a possibility, and you really wanna get down and dirty... you would have to find a way to convert the sms xml file into a database file for the iphone. i've seen some sites that can convert the iphones sms database file into xml but not the other way around...
http://insend.de/
http://faked.org/isms2droid/
if the iphone is jailbroken you could go to /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS and edit the sms.db file some how and import the xml data, but that right there just seems like a big headache. you can open that file with something like SQLite which is freeware...
Just resend all the texts you have, hahaha
Use sms backup, it wl automatically backup all your texts to your gmail account.. and then get a new android phone, cause iphone 4, while it is an amazing device, it is still locked down and has limitations to wat devs can do.

I will give sms backup ago, and I will still be using my rooted g1 but I can't escape the apple lure
Well why don't you get an iPod Touch, if you seriously want the apps the iPhone has. Do you really need a phone which is overrated, forces against your will to use iTunes, has crap battery life, crap reception and absolutely locked to the hilt when it comes to writing apps for it. Not to mention if the battery goes bung, prepare to ride the shaft to get a new battery, since it can't be easily replaced. Trust me, an Android phone is more flexible. Ditto with the old WinMo 6.5 and even SymbianOS.
Mate, stick with Android and get yourself an HTC Desire, get an iPod Touch, you'll be alright. Don't believe the iHype.
Edit: realised you were from Britain, so deleted mention of AT&T. My bad.

I use TiBU but since you dont have root maybe this will work for you.
Everyone has trouble when they back up fingerprint settings, just fyi. Personally I root and use titanium backup like the gentleman above. The paid version is the most expensive app I've purchased and worth every penny ^_^ the free version is great as well and since you're probably not the type that needs it over and over, free would do just fine for ya. Hope it helps

Not that this will help the OP's situation, but Motorola should add full online backup capability to your MotoBlur account. That would make MotoBlur something other than the useless POS it is now.

I thought it was only for LG and sony experia arc handsets?
For those who download the new Android Box app, or upgrade their existing app, the company is throwing in 50GB of free storage for life, while file upload limits will jump to 100MB. A normal Box account provides 5GB of free storage. The company has done this with other app launches, like iOS, which received 1 million downloads in the first five days.
Box > Dropbox, love the 50GB very useful.
Both my Box accounts said upgraded to 50GB .

Yup, mine just upgraded also
Good stuff and many thx!
I have just created a new account and been given 50 GB !
Thank you for the info!
Thanks, jost got mine...

free 50GB is great although there is a 100MB file limit
100mb upload makes it pretty pathetic to me, & I certainly ain't got 50gb of photos & videos under 100mb.
If the 100mb limit isn't removed, they could offer people 500gb+, its just a word - as people won't be able to use it due to the upload limit.

very useful !
Two good deals have arisen for android users lately to do with cloud storage. Dropbox with up to 5gb free earned storage with using their camera upload and unlimited upload filesize limit, and now this, box.net with 50gb but only 100mb upload filesize limit.
Why can't one of them take the initiative and give 50gb free storage and unlimited file size upload limit!?
I have to say that at the moment dropbox has got my attention because this is old news from box.net. Especially since pc sync software from dropbox is free opposed to box.net's paid business pc sync!
On the other hand, they are businesses in it to make money!!

Any way of transfering SMS from iPhone to Nexus 4?

This might not be the right place to ask, but here goes...
Any way of transferring my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) SMS to my Nexus 4 that I'll be receiving in a couple of days? Preferably a free method. It's not that important, but something that would be nice if possible.
Thanks
no
Transfer SMS from iPhone to Nexus 4
None of the free ones work very well at all, I've tested them all out over the past couple of days. I ended up buying Backuptrans software (about 25 bucks) and it worked perfectly, transferred every SMS into the Nexus 4.
Be sure and up your Text Message Limit to max (5000) per conversation on Messages Settings screen also!
Yes there is. I can't remember now but there are apps on the PlayStore that help to do so. You'll have to extract the file needed from your iPhone first though.

Yeah I heard about Backuptrans, but I'm not sure if I want to pay $25 to do this though. At least it's an option if I do want to go that way.

Thanks, I'll try and find out what apps they are. Extracting the file isn't a problem, I'm jailbroken and I do manual backups every once in a while.
Can't you export to sim card?

Is it possible to transfer my SMS from Windows Mobile 5 (Samsung BlackJack) to Nexus

I have a very old Samsung BlackJack using the Windows Mobile 5 OS.
Samsung SGH-i607 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is it possible to migrate all of the SMS from that phone on to my Nexus 4? I don't want to lose all of my SMS from that phone. I know it's a very old mobile OS and it's possible no tools exist, but I'm praying that the experts here might know a thing or two.
Thanks!
why on earth would you want to ?
There is a machine called cellebrite at most carrier stores. That should be able to put just about everything from your old phone to the new one. A lot of them charge for it. Anywhere between free and $20.

Does it work for the scenario that I described? I've never read or heard of Cellebrite transferring SMS from Windows Mobile to Android.

You could use your SIM card to transfer them. Although that might take forever depending on how many you have.

You can look for the app Sprite Migrate - Beta 2. That's what I used to transfer all my information to Android years ago. If not, look for the apk online.
