[Q] Can't read SD 4th partition (verygreen CM7)

I had CM7.1 installed onto the microSD (verygreen's method) and also had MIUI on emmc.
Today I decided to the unusable MIUI and install CM7 to emmc. Installation went fine but post installation of CM7(emmc) I booted into my SD CM7 to do a TB to restore onto emmc but it couldnt read/find the supposed SD(i.e. mmcblk1p4)
Next up I tried NookColor UMS. It mounts emmcblk1p1 as boot and I can add/remove files but the emmcblk1p4 gets mounted as a removable drive that "needs to be formatted".
(P.S. I did try mmcblk1p2/p3 but couldn't see anything in them either. I assumed they must be ext and since I'm on win7 I cant view them)
How do I get the emmcblk1p4 to mount/read?

Yeah. The same. I put the zip in the boot partition of the card. (mmcblk1p1)

Are you sure that you didn't format your card when you wrote the boot image to install CM7 to the emmc?
How did you go about installing CM7 to emmc? Which emmc install method did you use?

Here's what I did:
1. Reboot into recovery. (Emmc CWM, not verygreen's installer.)
2. Unmount/remove SDcard.
3. Wipe/data factory reset.
4. Insert/ mount SDcard
5. Install zip from SDcard.
6. Choose zip and confirm
I know when we do a wipe data/factory reset then the sd-ext partition is formatted and that would delete any one of my CM7 SD partitions so I removed SD before this step.
Could it be that during flashing something happened to mmcblk1p4?
I had no ideas about the various methds for emmc install. I thought this was the standard procedure. Please tell me how to recover. Also if possible can you tell which would be the best method for doing something like this?

I don't think it works that way.
Either your provided info is incorrect or it is a completely new to us.

As I stated in my previous post..the CWM is emmc while have 2 copies of CM7 (sdcard- verygreen and the normal emmc). And CWM recognises emmcblk1p1 as sd-card. So I put ROMs there.
And my emmcblk1p4 can't be read.

[Q] Mirage-Kang theme installation

Noob question.
I d/l the theme from MiRaGe - KANG build of CyanogenMod
- transparency theme with circular battery indicator for 01262012 build. MD5sum: 6bc8eb898c39a303189d335b8d015afe Flash this theme after booting once with the new ROM.
but don't know how to install this theme. I unzip the files and copy it to a new directory on the uSD card. I tried using Astro file manager and locate the APK files but no option to install.
Can any1 point me in the right direction?

don't unzip the file.
Use clockwork mod recovery and install the zip file.
1. Boot into recovery.
2. Choose install zip from sd card
3. Navigate to where the zip was downloaded.
4. Select zip file
5. Confirm and install.
6. Reboot nook.

I don't see Clockwork mod recovery anywhere on the NC. I did reboot into recovery mode but there is no option to choose install zip... the NC went straight into auto shutdown. What am I doing wrong? BTW, I'm running from my uSD. I saw another post saying that Clockwork mod doesn't work if running from uSD. Is that correct? If so what is my option to install the theme.

I hope someone else can help you. I run this from from emmc not SD card. You might check the thread in the development section about running this from from SD.

Do you still have the original bootable uSD you rooted and installed CM from? If so, you can boot off that uSD directly into CWM. That's how I just installed CM9. I set up the bootable on an old 1GB that I always keep as an emergency back up.

I think this person is trying to run cm9 from an SD card, which requires another method. Cm9 is not installed on emmc.

Thank you all for the inputs. I will look into loading CM7 onto the eMMC instead of SD.

Dont know if I should of stated my own thread but here is my question: How do I remove the theme if I dont like it?

Before installing on emmc, I would try dropping the zip on the card in boot and then boot into recovery and see if it works. Then check theme changer.

I tried and it doesn't work. The Clockwork Mod doesn't work with SD install. I did the eMMC install and everything works fine now. My NC is out of warranty so I'm not worry about the stock image but I did back it up with Clockwork Mod just in case. Again thanks every1 for the inputs.

[Q] Nook Color won't boot without SD Card

I know there is a lot of information out here about the nook color not being able to boot but none of it seems to fix this issue. I was trying to upgrade my nook from cyanogenmod 7.2 to cyanogenmod 10.2. I used Rom Manager on the device and downloaded the new ROM. Everything was fine until I told it to install. The nook went to reboot and I was presented with a black screen. I couldn't get it to do anything and I thought it was dead forever. I then installed a bootable ROM on my SD card and was able to get it to boot from the SD card. I have attempted to install several different versions onto the EMMC but none will boot. When I reboot the nook it just goes to a black screen and sits there, even with the SD card in it. This is the only sequence that allows me to get my nook color to boot from an sd card:
1) Hold the "n" and power buttons for 30 seconds (I think this forces it to power down)
2) Push and hold power button for a few seconds.
If I do this with a bootable SD card installed the nook boots the SD card. If I do this without the SD card installed I just get a black screen. I have tried many things from many threads here. I have tried fixing partitions, installing new ROMS and other things but nothing seems to work. I know the nook is not bricked because I can boot it from the SD card. I think the boot partition may be the issue. When I am booted from the SD card I can mount all partitions except "/boot". Should I be able to mount this partition?
I just need to know how to get my nook back to a state where it will boot without the SD card inserted. I know how to create a bootable SD card and install zips.
Very frustrated at this point, guidance that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated...

And ROM Manager assumes you have a correct version of CWM installed on internal memory. It is best not to use that tool. It is way outdated. It is best to install ROMs manually with CWM.

Yes I have done 2 out of the 3 zips you have on your post. 1) NookColor-emmc-repair-partitions-1-4-5-6-7-8.zip and 2)NookColor-emmc-format-partitions-5-6-7-8.zip. I did not do the partition 2 zip as it looked like it may cause more problems. However, I'm not sure it could get much worse.
Today I ran the RecoveryFix.zip from this post --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958748
No Help. Same issue, I reboot and nothing but a black screen. I have to do the 2 steps I described in my original post to get the SD card to boot. Is there a way I can see what is on the nook partitions? These tools allow me to copy zip files but there is nothing that allows me to look around on the nooks internal partitions. What does the nook need to boot without the SD card. It seems there must be something partially working because I can get the SD card to boot...

Ok, so now I'm pretty sure it's just my internal memory that is screwed up. I installed CM 7.2 on an SD card and now my nook color is running from the SD card. But if I take the SD card out and try to reboot all I get is a black screen(Not even a flash or anything when hitting the power button). So right not the only thing my nook can do is boot from the SD card.
How can I fix the internal memory??

Try flashing the repair partition 2 zip. It has protections built in to prevent further damage.
Then go to my NC tips thread linked in my signature and return to stock via item A15. Be sure to flash the format zip listed there too. Then you should be able to start over.

Ok, I think I may have totally screwed this nook up. I found some other repartition//format zips that I ran trying to fix the problem. Now I can't even run from the SD card. It tries to boot but I get an error and it fails. I tried to run your repairpartition2.zip file but it did not work. This is the output:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E:failed to open last_instal: no such file or directory
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Repair /rom partition (P2)
Checking for /factory - if ot found will return error message and repair will be aborted.

That error message says your factory partition is gone and it contained info there that is vital and un-retreivable. You might be able to rebuild your partitions but some ROMs will never run without that backup info from /factory (partition 3). You just got too aggressive with your partition repairs.

Trying to build a bootable SD Card with CWM 6.0.4.8. I used image "generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-10.1-10.2-11-largest-Rev8b.zip" with Win32DiskImage and when I place uRecImg and uRecRam on the SD card, it does load into CWM recovery, but once in I can't select anything involving the SD card as it says it "Can't mount /storage/sdcard0"
Is there a bootable image out there with 6.0.4.8 already on it that I should be using?

That is the image for an SD install. You do not want to use that. I have some bootable SD images in my NC tips thread linked in my signature that can be used. Just use the same method you used on the other SD.

Actually I am trying to do an SD install - it's what I meant by making a bootable SD. I figure it's safer to see how CM11 runs before wiping my CM7 on the emmc.

Then don't use CWM. And if you use the installer script you must use a nightly earlier than 5/15 until I get the script fixed. That is unless you are using steven676's experimental version of CWM for use on SD installs. If you are it is not yet ready for prime time and you may have glitches.

Ok, just to make sure I understand what you mean by "installer script", I can not use the Rev8b image with a post 5/15 CM11?
That's actually what I tried first and it didn't work which led me to try and get CWM6.0.4.8 working. I will try a pre-5/15 image with 8b shortly.

The installer script is part of 8b. It is the penguin with the scrolling text. And you need to use a CM11 zip older than 5/15.

That worked - I had used the 8b image but with the 5/18 nightly, which obviously was a fail.
I downloaded a 2/10 build and it booted and worked, albeit quite slow. Without CWM, how do I flash the 5/4 build? Or do I just have to redo the whole img creation on the SD card again?

No, just copy the zip to the boot partition and boot to the SD recovery (the script installer). It will find and install the new zip.

I'll give that a shot. I tried re-imaging 8b with the 0504 build and it doesn't like it; same behavior as with the 0518 build. Looks like 8b needs builds older than 0504. I'll go back and try the 0210 build and then copying just the 0504 to the boot partition like you suggested.

Copying 0504 to the boot partition of the 0210 SD card worked. Can I do the same method for newer than 0515 versions?

Steven676 said the issue happened a while back but didn't know exactly when it happened. Once you get a version of CM11 installed, any new nightly will update (I used it right up to 5/15).

Thanks to both of you for your help. So can I put a version of CM10 using this method, to see how it runs?
Pretty interesting to see how each version incrementally performs better. The Feb one was uber-slow, then 0504 was better. Just tried 0518 and it's another increase in performance. I'll keep working my way up.

Cyandelta problem

Hi everyone,
I am using CM on SD (latest nightly/latest CMW) and am having a problem with Cyandelta. It works sometimes but many times it bombs and erases the nightly about to be updated and ends with a no file found error.
The built in updater works well.
Anybody have any ideas?

You use CWM and SD? I thought that the CWM for nightlies on SD was not working yet.

On an SD card I have CWM 6.0.4.8 and the latest nightly. It runs fairly well on my NC. I'd love to figure out what is happening with Cyandelta. It does work sometimes.
I believe it's your image supporting the whole thing (generic-sdcard-v1.3-CM7-9-10-10.1-10.2-11-largest-Rev8c.img).

I have been using CWM and the nightlies on SD since about 5/15 with no problems. It installs right from the Cyandelta directory directly. This is handy since leapinlar's sdboot mount trick doesn't seem to persist with an update anymore.

The reason my sdboot trick stopped working for you is the use of CWM to install the updated ROM instead of the script installer. With the script installer the reason it stuck was the script installer does not wipe /system when it installs. It just copies the new /system files over the old /system files. That way any existing /system files that do not come with the new ROM stick. CWM wipes /system before copying the new /system files. That wipes my file that is put in /system/etc/init.d that creates sdboot.
Not that it matters since you successfully use cyandelta, but the solution is to put my 19mountsdboot file in /data/local/init.d and set its permissions to execute.

That works perfectly. Big thanks. This is really slick on dual boot setups. That directory is visible by both EMMC and SD operating systems.
