hi guys,
i upgraded the latest firmware via kies which is
PDA:MK3
PHONE:MK1
CSC:MJ1
but during upgrading i choose "Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation"
after initialising and upgrading for about 7 hrs and restarting it as per the kies,
my device data is NOT DELETED, so wat can i assume is it firmware upgraded or not????

kies or ota not delete anything just update your phone and if you want to check in setting more about device

I'm struggling to update my S2.
Have installed Kies on Mac and got connected, getting errors downloading updates then as message saying updates not supported?
Is this the only way to update firmware? And how many versions am I behind? My phone says PDA KE7, Phone KE4

If you have a mac like I also do then you have to use kies under bootcamp for it to work as kies for mac does not currently support firmware updates.

Depends on your region, either KF2 or KF3. Does Kies work on Mac? No idea. If you have Windows installed then you could try. Of course there is alternative, download Odin from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=611625&d=1306787405 and a suitable firmware from Samfirmware.com or from here under Android Development section.

i dont want to update via odin, but what is the problem with my phone!!! i checked sammobile website and found a firmware released in november for my country.
plus: if i updated via odin do i still update via phone if new version released!!!
please help me guys and thanks in advance for all...

1. Download Kies Software and run it. (www.samsung.com/us/kies)
2. Connect your phone via USB to computer.
3. Kies will tell you if it needs to update or not. (you must be online)
4. If update available, simply click on "Update" button. :good:
If you have android 4.2 you must install "Kies". "Kies version 3" is for Android 4.3 devices.
If you flash a Stock Rom via Odin, you still will be able to update OTA.

Did you rooted your device before?
If you have rooted device your device status is shown modified or custom so you can not update with kies or OTA. Use Wanam Xposed to fake this situation into "Official".
Before that you may try Triangle Away.
NOTE: Use above apps at your own risk.

Check update through Kies3 on your PC.

Unless you're located in Mexico and have the N900W8, or you're located in Poland, you won't get the update yet. Please be patient.
I'm using a Czech T-mobile S4 GT-I9505 which is currently running firmware 4.3 (baseband I9505XXUEMKF) and am unclear about whether I'll be able to get an official update to 4.4.2 via my Singapore carrier (Starhub) at any point. I can't go via Kies, it says the device doesn't support firmware initialization.
Any advice would be welcome, thanks very much in advance.

1. Android 4.3 and android 4.4.2 use KIES 3.
2. When u conect ur phone to Kies 3, you dont need press Tools -> Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. The update, if u have any, will pop up automatically (example in pic 1 attached).
3. If Kies 3 tell u that can't update is coz the old owner installed one firmware with wrong CSC.
- Go to Kies 3 and you will see ur CSC (its your zone code) like the pic 2 attached.
- Knowing ur CSC, take a look for this firmware in Sammobile.com
- Download and flash it with ODIN (Dont flash a "Black EDITION" if ur phone isnt it)
- Enjoy

Actually, this was a new phone, but it was purchased as a grey market import. I should have said that I have tried to go via Kies but it tells me I have the latest firmware. So does the phone OTA update.
Could it be that the OTA update is still connecting to the update server for Czech S4 phones and there hasn't been a 4.4.2 rollout there yet? If so, it looks like I have to root it if I want to go to 4.4.2.

O Just recently got a sm-g900f and im stuck with kitkat 4.4.2, cant find Lollipop update, not even 4.4.3 or 4 4.4, i got it from orange and its unlocked, is there anything i can do to receive updates? It says im up to date and that there are no updates available. Cant use kies since i dont have a pc atm
There isn't 4.4.3 or .4 update for Galaxy S5 and Lollipop update is based on region and only few of them received it. But you can always update it yourself by downloading firmware from sammobile.com

Lollipop was only released yesterday in the UK. Mine is also unlocked but still no OTA update ?
