Which ROM overall do you prefer? CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android? I'm currently running cm-10.2-20131129-NIGHTLY-d800.zip on my LG G2 which is 4.3 but Paranoid has pa_g2-4.0-ALPHA-20131123B-d800.zip AOSPA 4.0+ PARANOID ANDROID Kitkat 4.4 KRT16S android-4.4_r1.2 out now. Which of the 2 ROM teams have been better in the long run for people?

I am also looking forward to hearing about this. As far as I know CM still does not have a stable rom for LG, they are all nightlies or release candidates for G2.

To be honest they both have their pluses and minuses, I would try both and decide which you prefer. Each person will like or dislike a Rom for their own reasons, so why not just find out which you prefer by using both, instead of someone else telling you which to use. At worse, it is a couple hours of your time on each before you should be able to figure which works best for you.

While I agree that it us a personal choice in most cases, in this case OP is also looking for feedback on technical information and facts such as bugs, working vs not working features, and overall operability of that specific rom.
One might be best for someone in terms of a specific feature but if it has battery drain problem or if camera is upside down, for example, it won't mean much, and we shouldn't expect him to waste his time finding out about these things just so he can make his own decision.

That is the continued issue with both, they both have issues as mentioned. Neither has released a Stable version as of yet. I would suggest reading both forums on each Rom and they are detailed on the bugs and some methods of resolving them and pick one you can deal with on a daily basis till they are worked out.
The verizon g2 has an unofficial cm11 build which has everything working. I ran it for a few days and didn't encounter any bad issues. Some people reported random reboots but where very minimal and I didn't get any. Google wallet worked fine. I haven't tried PA because I haven't seen one for Verizon's g2 so I can't comment on that.

I like both. Depends on what you want. CM will be leaner and probably more stable. PA will have more features but buggier.

I'll wait for CM11 if Paranoid just makes and leave they're ROM's buggy
Both devs work hard to squash any bugs. Like said neither have a stable release yet. So bugs are present in both.
Personally I use stock with Xposed. Xposed gives you tons of tweaks and options normally found in custom roms. The stock rom has plenty of useful additions too.
If and when I flash, I'll be using AOKP.

Is there any stable rom at all for G2?
Sent from my LG-D800
I have tried both, but I don't really miss too many of the features from CM. (I used to run CM 10.2) One thing i can say for sure I love about ParanoidAndroid, is that they have removed the annoying noise cancellation, that has been there in any other rom i have tested. Now when i record video i do not get any annoying watery sounds. Brilliant! But if a modder makes a mod that will disable the noise cancelling microphone and it will be compatible with any rom, then I would probably lean more towards CM.
Try them both out!
P.A.C.-man ROM combines PA, AOKP and CM.
Any additional feedback a few months later?

Ok right now I'm using the matrix rom, and is real good on my t-mobile nexus s. The thing is that I know is pretty old and I kbow there are several newer more stable roms out there but wich one ia the best of all? I'm looking for the fastest but not just that but stable if that's not available what would be the fastest and still be super steady and bug free.

Try a few! I tell EVERYONE who asks this question the same thing...
THERE IS **NO** BEST ROM (OR KERNEL)
Different phones behave differently with roms/kernels. Make a nandroid, flash something, and use it for a few days/weeks. Don't like it? Flash something else! Obviously you probably want to start with the jelly bean based roms and go from there. Look at the comments in the threads and base your opinion on what you want to try from what other people have said.
Hope that helps.
Back in the day I tried several infinity and don't remember others they were not stable as matrix is. I tried one of the first ics custom rom don't remember which ones and it was very unreliable. Was it because it was pretty new or all ics roms suck and is better to stay with gingerbread custom roms?

ICS ROMS run great... I was using CM9 up until yesterday when I switched to CM10. Very smooth and good battery even with the stock kernel (referring to CM9)
Closed, no such thing as a "Best" rom.

Yep looking forward to this to. I have been running Siyah Kernel for a couple of weeks and it's great to be able to switch between the stable stock based rom and CM10
Yep same as on the Nexus 7 forums too, looking forward to having 4.2 AOSP on both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7:laugh:

Won't take long to CM10-4.2 get released. I guess 4.2 uses the same base and stuff, so won't be a problem. Still, I may stick with Samsung. I love CM10 but not CM10 for i9300. Colors doesn't look good, laggy and a lot of random bugs.
Looking forward to it. Unfortunately cm10 on i9300 is beyond the team's control . If Samsung took their thumbs outta their asses and start releasing the RIGHT source and docs for Xynos, we might actually get somewhere. Its a miracle we've come this far without it.

I see a lot of people comment that Touchwiz ROMs run more smoothly than CM based builds. This is exactly the opposite of my experience. I find the Cyanogen team's work to be second to none, which is remarkable considering they're volunteering their time.

It's freaking me out a bit that my Verizon Galaxy Nexus will get a 4.2 custom ROM before my Nexus 4. WTF?
With the CM vs TW ROM debate, is there one Vanilla ROM that you think proves that theory that they run smoother and faster because I'd love to test it if there is one. I've always also felt that TW runs smoother? Maybe I'm wrong. Is LiquidSmooth a good example?

I think that comment probably did that more than anyone else's. I think it's a perfectly valid part of the discussion. I'm not suggesting we sit here and go back and forth on ROM names. But I'll ask my question in a different way. What is it about the AOSP release that's out there now that isn't working well that will be improved by this 4.2 release? Ultimately, this isn't about one ROM base vs another it's about whether AOSP can be made to work bug-free with the I9300 hardware, isn't it?

I believe it's also to do with what new FEATURES have been added to the new AOSP release and less to do with how much stability it will add (since that is dependent more on Samsung releasing the source than what AOSP has to offer in terms of stability).
Some of us would like to make use of the new features of 4.2 and not have to wait for an official Samsung update.
Having said all this, at the end of the day, that's my point of view and I don't expect everyone to agree.

Yeah, there are more features and probably better performance/battery. You could start out with the RC5 build since it is the most stable and updated build but generally the nightly builds are pretty stable with minor bugs too. Personally, I prefer AOSPA since it has very innovative features that make my phone that much more unique :]
If you don't like it you can flash another Rom or go back to stock. You'll probably end up trying different roms and finding out what you like.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
sure man. couldnt hurt to learn a bit about your phone in the process as well
just dont be stuck with cm. its not the only stable rom, and it is definitely not the most stable so dont worry about having to just play it safe with cm.
Try PACman Rom, has Cyanogenmod, AOKP and Paranoid Android, the top 3 roms in my opinion. this way you can see all the features and then flash the rom you like the most or stick to it...whatever floats your boat

if you are satisfied with stock then No , if you feel some features that you would use are missing then go for it.
as for battery life, from my own experience, stock was the best option for me so far.
Use Carbon instead. Has the features CM has but a lot more. Nav width/height adjustment is a must for me. CM doesnt have that and wont put it in.
I had to get a new phone. Money was tight and I wound up with this junker. I'm running a rooted stock rom (FC09) with all the sprint bloat removed. But its nothing but problems.
Instead of troubleshooting what's causing my problems, I'm just going to flash a new rom, and maybe kernal.
I've flashed other phones, so I know how to. But I don't know what rom to use. I want something slim / light, fast, stable and great battery life. Give me your suggestions for what rom to go with please.
Thanks
Aaron

7 is GB, 9 is ICS, and 10 is JB.
If you're looking strictly from a speed and stability standpoint, CM 7 is the bee's knees. If you need the latest and greatest, 10 or one of the other 4.2 variations is it.

Hi, I would like to ask about your opinion on future roms for LG G2. Now there is almost not choice to change rom to aokp, cm, or else. How will it be in future? Is possible to stuck just with lg rom?
What about battery on custom rom, for example note II has better battery life with stock/custom TW rom than pure android or cm or aokp. Is it with every manufacture that, stock "bloated" rom has better battery life?
There's a CM Rom in the works

StarFighter has said he will be porting over several roms soon, and I think I saw the CM for the G2 had become an official build.
I can honestly say I am really happy with the stock ROM experience. I was someone who was looking at the N5, but I am so glad I went with the G2. I would go as far as saying its the best phone i have ever owned.

I am also enjoying the stock ROM with xposed framework mods. I would venture to say that once the nexus 5 hits and the rumors are true, that there will be plenty of Roms and kernels to choose from. From what I understand from the kernel side is that Qualcomm can be kind of a PITA because they don't like putting out their binaries. But as far as Roms go I tend to enjoy just using xposed to make the changes I want due to the stock ROM being as good as it is.
