Unfortunately you're in the wrong forum. This is the forum for the AT&T S4 Active. If you're looking for the regular S4 Verizon try posting here.

I picked up a SM-G900L version of the S5 and the clerk told me that it's unlocked and i'll be able to use it in the U.S. without a problem. Is there anyway to verify I won't have any problems (updates etc etc) with the phone once I head back to the states?
Also I rarely see any threads for the G900L version...

Pop in a Tmo or ATT sim and see if it works. I don't believe there is a screen or setting that shows "unlocked".
Edit: You will need to enter the correct APN for these carriers to get data.

hi on my s i tape *#0011# and down i see if its lock or not .perhaps helping
Yeah, for me, that's my way to check it, insert SIM card from different carriers.
there is no other way to test this, other than popping in a different SIM?
Hey S4ers,
So I recently gave my friend my S4 (i337) restored to NB1. She does not have an active data plan, but I figured since I'm giving her the phone, it wouldn't matter too much.
She used to have an unlocked T-Mobile Phone working on AT&T, just running it on the EDGE network.
Anyway long story short, she cannot receive MMS anymore after using this phone. The phone has signal, but does not display E, 2G, 3G, 4G, or LTE. Just the signal bars. So I ordered an unlock code and received it, thinking that if I unlock the SIM that she could get this functionality. I tried the #0111*CODE# method in the dialer and receive an incorrect MMI message. Are there any other methods to unlocking the phone with the code that I have? No root would be ideal, because she has everything all set up on it, but I am open to any suggestions, really. I was wondering if I am going down the correct path in enabling MMS, by unlocking the phone like her old one used to be, or if AT&T needs to be contacted.
FYI, when we set up the phone, we called AT&T to register the new SIM, and provided the IMEI number, is it possible that they turned off any functionality because it was a smart phone without a data plan?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

What carrier SIM is being used in it? Also check your APN settings.
She is on AT&T and the APN is good. We had to get a new micro sim
Could someone please help me on unlocking a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 for domestic use with T-Mobile carrier. This phone was unlocked by Sprint and a MSL code was provided by Sprint as well. It's still not accepting the T-Mobile Sim card. I get the "Invalid Sim card" notification. I am not able to save any APN settings. I couldn't enter the MSL code either. It's not asking me anywhere to input the code.
Could someone help me please? Thanks in advance.

if its not asking you for the sim unlock code, then the code that sprint provided is useless to you and MSL's dont help at all ever. The best thing to do is contact one of the thrid party unlocker sites and pay their fee, or there are a couple users on XDA that have unlocked phones for free or small donation. @stifilz and @asadnow2k have done them in the past, but i dont know how active they are with unlocks present day. Ive personally used www.idoneapps.com to unlock 2 sprint G900P S5's and they have been flawless for me. Theyre not the cheapest at $35, but they simply work.

I just went thru the same thing. Best I could find is idoneapps.com best reviews I had seen, not the cheapest, in the mid range for me. The problem that I am looking at now is how to add LTE bands or something to get some better data. It was worth the $35.
Hello! I've read a lot of posts but I'm unsure about how to do this...I apologize if I've missed something, but I'm asking for some help. I have a sprint note8 that's been sim unlocked from sprint and now has service with TMobile. Most services work with the exception of mms while connected to wifi. I've done all the apn stuff and the only thing that will allow mms is to get off wifi. This appears to be a common issue with T-Mobile port ins. I would like to flip this from sprint based to T-Mobile based to unlock all the features of the phone. I've read that there's a carrier switch and/or a carrier firmware. I don't know which one I need to do since the phone is sim unlocked. Can I get by with doing the carrier firmware only? Do I need to do both? Will my wife kill me if I lose all her stuff, yes. Thanks for any guidance you can provide!
I recently bought used Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7. It turned out the phone is locked to Sprint and is on bootloader v5. I called Sprint but they refused to unlock it even though it is paid in full because I am not the owner of the account that phone is associated with. I bought it from an electronics recycling company, so they cannot help with this. I would like to use it with a gsm carrier, like ATT or T-Mobile. What are my options here? Can the phone be unlocked by third-party? Even if unlocked, can the necessary bands and other settings be made available? Any hacks that trip KNOX are unfortunately not acceptable in my case (it seems putting U firmware with BL5 will trip KNOX).
IMEIGURUS.COM should have a carrier unlock for you. not saying its free.
That is fine but after it is unlocked would I be able to use it with t-mobile or att without issues? I read a lot about LTE frequencies locked, missing menus to set APNs, etc.
It is fine if the answer to my original question is to simply get rid of the phone. I am already considering this, as I naively thought that all it would need is a call to Sprint to unlock it and then flashing the U firmware.

There is a thread here about unlocking additional LTE bands.
