Hello I had upgrade to 4.4 stock and in having an odd tether problem were the data just stop sending for like 5 second and it's randomly only on tether has anyone else notice this ?

It's affect some carriers and not others. Many people have noticed it, and a solution is known: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512674&page=7
If this is not the same issue for you then I don't know.
I'm in telus and my plan has tethering and it never did it before 4.4 as well. I mean it work it just intermittently drop connection but doesn't say its drop or anything. I am thinking it might be a WiFi driver problem on n4 after update but its driving me nuts

Hello all,
currently my Nexus 4 is losing it's mobile internet connection when i am a long time connected to a wifi. I am on O2 germany as a carrier, when android was much younger, like 1.6 i had the same issues, but somewhen on android 2.X it was fixed.
Somehow it looks like in 4.2 it's now the same issue
When i am just a few minutes in the wifi and lose wifi connection like moving away from the building everything is fine and the nexus 4 is switching to mobile internet
when i am a few hours in the wifi and to the same it's not switching, i've got cell connection for call and text but no Internet,
switchting from 2g to 2g/3g fixes it then, but it's somehow annoying
any ideas or anyone with the same issue?
edit:
seems that people are having the same issue on the galaxy nexus too, but even with older android versions

workaround fix app

it actually happens to me as well. I live in Australia and thought the problem lies with my provider. And yeah I can get the 3g connection back when i tried to change to 2g then back to 3g connection. Has this issue been reported before? hope it can be fixed soon.
This has happened to me twice since I got my N4. I'm in Canada btw. I wonder if it is a frequent problem out there.

Me too...is there a fix?

my solution so far is: airplane mode on -> airplane mode off
This is what I usually end up doing. Although it sucks that a phone of this caliber has problems with this.

Im having the same problem. Doesnt matter which rom im on. Been on stock, modaco, and some PA rom with this problem. Also used matr1x kernel and franco kernel. Solution for me is to jump into airplane mode and back.
I'm in the same boat and only quick fix is airplane mode on/off.

I have the same issue.
I dont know whose fault it is, Google, LG or my carrier... but it's quite frustrating from time to time.
I thought i had solved it by activating "choose automatically" in mobile network settings> network operators.
It worked yesterday and this saturday, i didnt drop 3g connection when i disconnected wifi.
But i lost it again this morning as i left for work, just like last week...
I've had this problem since 2.1. I seem to remember it being on the Google fix boards. The aeroplane on/off is the easiest workaround. But, still, it's annoying, and it is also not consistent. If it makes you feel any better, the same issue arises on iphones. This suggests it is not simply an android issue, it might be interesting to know if bb or wpx does it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
i think the issue is neither LG nor Google
i think it's something with qualcomm driver and the provider
because on older devices i had with qualcomm chips had the same issue
the sgs2 and the hox which had exynos and nvidia chips didn't had the issue

Do you mean this thread from march 2009?
hxxp://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2207
Idk if knowing that others have the same problem makes me feel better, i just hope they can fix it.
That's likely the one, I'll rely on your veracity.

I have the same issue, and not thought about the airplane mode. Thanks guys

so if you check the google support forum thread
it looks like a lot of users are having this issues
i don't undersand why google is not even giving a statement
It happens to me very often, because I turn off data overnight. Airplane mode doesn't help, the only thing that brings connection back without reboot is Mobile Networks -> Network operators -> search... It finds my operator again and connection comes back. I had the same problem with Galaxy Nexus 4.1.2 (fixed in 4.2, though), but airplane mode did the trick there.

Internet stops working when left idle for long
I bought the phone a week back & am facing the same problem.....not just been with Wi Fi even if the phone is left idle the internet stops working & i have to restart......post that it comes back to normal & active.
Its quite annoying to restart phone every now n then everytime internet stops working.
Also, tried Airplane mode on/off its worked.
Are there any experts that can help to resolve the issue for a better & permanent solution....?!
I only got my n7 a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately updated to 4.2. I didn't notice any issues. Immediately after the 4.2.1 update I keep getting random connection issues. I have to turn wifi off and on to resolve it.

I had the issue.. 32gb version in the US with the sep build. I actually had it prior to to 4.2.1. I ended up going into advanced properties and changing wifi to always on. Drains battery, but fewer need to turn wifi off and back on.

Yes. I have WiFi disconnects and random reboots since the new update .

WiFi Fixer
I use WiFi Fixer downloaded from Google Play. When the connection is dropped it automatically reconnects after a second or two.
Same on my 7 WiFi stops working at random times turn WiFi off and on fixes it, only started after 4.2.1 update

Thanks for confirming everyone. I have wifi always on and still have the issue. Hopefully it gets fixed...

How do we make Google aware of these bugs?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My WiFi is always on and tethered to my evo3d at least 8 hours a day. Not a single problem under 4.2.1.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Just to clarify, i'm having this problem 100% stock. Not rooted what so ever. Roms/kernels could have this eliminated. But I wouldn't know.

No wifi internet / e-mail / notifications after 4.2.1
I am having a similar issue. Stock Nexus 7, never rooted, installed the 4.2.1 update when it was pushed. Since then I can connect to wifi connections but there is no internet access. While the icon in the upper right has small flashing arrow like data is being sent back and forth, the icon remains gray and no internet-requiring services on the tablet work. I've tried everything that I (and Google Play and Asus support) could think of with no luck.
The only thing they could come up with at the end was to restore the tablet to factory settings. Unfortunately I have application data that I need to back up that I can't access by accessing the internal storage using my laptop (I'm stock, remember?).
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Anyone have any suggestions? It was very frustrating when the Asus representative suggested I use the built-in backup and restore feature:
Me: "That requires internet access to work right?
Asus representative: "Oh....right..."
My Wi-Fi on both my Nexus 7's is very slow. They stay connected fine but I'm getting about 150kbps download speeds. I factory reset one of them to no prevail. Anyone have any insight on this or heard of others with this issue? All my other devices work fine on the same Wi-Fi connection and I tried turning everything else off so just the Nexi where connected to see if the speeds are faster, but they aren't. I'm stock on both devices and both are the 16gb version, one older than the other.

Known issue. I logged a bug with Google and there's actually several open bugs reporting wifi issues. So far, none of the bugs are being picked up by google officially.

I've tried this same thing, and as soon as I installed 4.2, WiFi went to sh**. Completely stock.
So turning wifi off then on seems to be the generally excepted quick fix?

Or use Static IPs. That solved it for me. I had to ask my company to provide a reservation for my MAC Address. It's like back in the 90s when Wifi started coming out using the BellLabs/Lucent chipset.
I'm not getting any WhatsApp messages unless I turn my screen on for a few seconds then they all come in. Any ideas what this is?

Are you on WiFi? If you are, there's a wifi delay bug.

Ya I know about that. That isn't the issue. Also, when I am on WiFi and leave home my cellular network doesn't connect sometimes once I disconnect form wifi

Ok so I am trying to tether my N 10 on stock 4.4 to my N4 which is on stock 4.4 as well. I've been doing this for months with no problem. Now all of a sudden the dreaded TMO hotspot block coming up after I updated one or both of the devices. Does anyone know anyway to get around this?
This might be better in the nexus 4 thread since that's where the data actually comes from so someone from there might be able to help better. I don't use tethering much but maybe you can try one of the tethering hotspot apps?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
Possibly but from what I understand tmo blocks it server side these days therefore something on the N10 will have to be changed

I have an SM-N900V as well. I was having fits with 4G and wifi. My phone is rooted via vroot. I thought that might be the issue. I did a factory reset and did not restore my apps. I found the phone is still rooted but my connections issues were gone. I started recovering my apps via new installations. I haven't recovered them all btw. I had a ****load I didn't need. I do need an ad blocker and the only one that really worked was ad vanish pro. AVP caused the wifi and 4G problems. I can load it but as soon as I start it and load an affected app, down goes the wifi. I hope this helps and leads to further experiments. We need an ad killer that doesn't screw up the connections. AVP worked fine on my S3 until 4.3 was pushed out.
