Defy+ Phone Call audio problems :
1.Updated form CM9 by Epsylon 3 - 20121118-NIGHTLY to CM 10.1 by Quarx ( cm-10.1-20130709-NIGHTLY_v2-mb526 )
In BootMenu > Wiped data,cache,dalvik etc. Installed CM 10.1 zip > Rebooted > wiped cache/dalvik > Installed Gapps.> Rebooted.
Everything worked fine > Wifi,Edge Data,PlayStore,Email,Contact Sync etc.
No audio thru speaker or earpiece while making telephone calls, what i'm i missing ?
PS - Did downgrade back to CM9 to test & all is OK.

Thanks ! If it does not work with Bluetooth toggle, any other ROM recommendations ?
I need something simple(ROM) with JB type UI what can you suggest ?
It's frustrating to discover that things don't work as they should
PS- So far, i have found the CM7 by CMod March 2013 build to be very stable & smooth.
I'm also OK with CM9 but find it slow

You can use CM10. All ROMs above 4.1 have that bug

I reinstalled CM10.1 & strangely it worked OK for a while, then, audio during calls disappeared again.
(Toggling Bluetooth did not help. I don't have any issue with Bluetooth not working)
Also noticed increased Battery drain.
So i shall try CM10 as you suggested & will downgrade back to 9 or 7 if there are issues.

Hey guys!
At first I'm new here and from germany, so don't be mad for my english.
I have CM9 running on my Defy and want to upgrade to CM10 Jelly Bean-Defy Builds by quarx or Epsylon3.
In no case I wan't to lose my messages on the phone and all the other things.
Do I need to do a full data wipe, installing CM10?
And does anyone have got a link for Jellybean Gapps without a torrent in it? In Quarx CM10 Thread only is a torrent link.
Thanks!

I went from latest quarx cm9 to cm10 today without wiping. The phone did the application optimising before completing boot and I still had all my apps. I'm not sure I'd recommend it though. Some of my system settings weren't properly set after upgrading.
You can use this app to backup your messages and restore them later:

I went from ICS to JB without wiping data, just cache and Dalvik-cache. It worked, in the sense that the phone booted and seemed to work, but after using it for a day I found it got really slow; applications were taking a long time to launch, and some stopped responding completely.
I saved my messages and performed a full wipe (data, cache, Dalvik-cache) and then flashed JB and Gapps again. This time, the phone ran much faster and after 2 days it hasn't had any slowdowns.
So, you can _try_ to upgrade without wiping, you won't lose data and the phone will be useable, but I strongly recommend doing a full wipe.
Thank you, guys!
I think I'll give it a try.
What about the GApps? Do anyone have a link for that?
i have installed it over cm9(wipe cache only)..its works really good at moment.
I don't really know if I want to try it... :/
Yesterday after several attempts, had to do a full data wipe... It was bootlooping. Now works pretty well!

Yesterday I flased CM10 (25/07) and I only do a wipe chace and clear devilk cache before flash CM10 and then gapps for Jelly Bean. You can find gapps for Jelly Bean here goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip
One of my friends also has got a Defy running CM9-ICS now and he will try it for me if I have to wipe.
My Question is answered. Ummm don't know if necessary, but thread close is ok
Thx Guys!

The App-Startup animation is different from ICS. When you take a picture it slides to the side after taking it. In Gallery the Images are now seemed to be stacked, like the page changing animation in App Drawer. The Statusbar is different and many other changes... Like the menu guidance and so on.
Hi All,
I am one of the victims who mistakenly flashed defy+ sbf on a normal defy with green lens. It was bricked for quite some time and then later magically one day DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1 134_DFP-231 SBF worked. Now the phone (orginally MB525) only accepts custom ROMS made for MB526 with camera not working. the message i get is "Can't connect to camera". Recently i tried Quarx build made for MB526 (4.1.2) and suprisingly my camera was working fine. The only problem i was having is my phone would not give me a ringtone music when a call comes and the moment i make a call the screen goes off. It will only come back ON when the other party disconnects. Sometimes that will also not happen and i will have to totally restart my phone (i am guessing the sensors are also not working). For some time I tried using option in Accessability saying power button ends call. Volume rocker turn of doesnt work.
Finally, now i am using a WakJIUI Rom based on GB. Everything works perfectly except for camera and sensor. I have a workaround of sensor where i can choose not to have the screen turned off while on call and volume rocker key works like a charm.
Now, the reason why i started this thread is a vauge idea came to me where i am thinking of having a WakJIUI Rom as stable and use Quarks 4.1.2 build as second boot. I have no idea how to use dual boot. i have read forums but they are confusing.
Anybody who can help...
You cannot dual boot Quarx's CM10.
You can flash Quarx's CM10 and Jelly X kernel to fix ringtone bug, and to fix proximity issue there is an option for "Inaccurate proximity sensor" in Settings > Display under CM10
You can try to fix proximity sensor issue, watch the following video: http://youtu.be/uMk1S90MjbY

Thanks for the insight. One question again : In past when i tried flashing kernal of CM7 and CM9 my phone gets into soft brick mode. where i again have to flash the sbf i mentioned above. i am guessing thats because these kernals are made for MB525. Now that my phone identifies itself as MB526 will this jelly X kernal work....

no, no need to flash any sbf, because it's 2nd-boot
Flash rom, flash gapps, flash jellyx
if you get black screen after bootmenu pull the battery and restart

Thanks for the advise man. I did complete data wipe and cache partition. Flashed the Jelly X Kernal, then installed the sister JB. My camera is working fine. Ringtone issue fixed and also thanks to that video maker, my proximity sensor issue is also resolved.

Same here!
I read that it doesnt work on Android 4.2+
I have the same issue with 4.2.2 stock ROM,
I've tried Z-Screen Recorder and Screencast Video Recorder but both of them shows black screen (I've disabled HW overlay and forced GPU rendering)
How do you guys record your screen?
Edit: I've also tried BBQ Screen *ROOT* and it doesn't work
Have you guys any luck with screencast?
or z-screenrecord?
I am on CM10.1 RC1 and still no luck!

I already heard that, but thanks for re-noticing...
because you made me to flash SlimBean..
Its NOT that hassle guys!
I am on CM10.1 RC1 /Franco kernel m2.
**Extra option: before the nandroid backup, enable visual touches in developer options if you want them!
(i had FC in developer options after flashing the slimbean)
I made Full Nandroid Backup.
Wiped: System & Caches (only)
Installed Slimbean 5.
Extra option: i needed gmaps v2 api to functional, so i flashed this gapps(http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/262)
and after wiped caches. On boot it asked me to set acounts and such. i skipped. and everything(data) was there!
And it works well with my data that i didnt erased.
I will make my vids and revert back using the nandroid backup!
I think Screencast works with roms which aren't fully merged with Android 4.2.2. I had to flash PA 3.10-28FEB to make a video, but it doesn't work with stock, or newer versions of PA and CM:
Any new updates on screen recording...??

Hey guys,
using CM13 on my i9505 since six months, very great, I love it. Now I tried a CM Nougat theme, inspired by a Germans tech blog, from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/nougat-cm-android-7-0-inspired-cm-theme-t3410088. Since I can only make phone calls using the headset, otherwise I can't hear the mailbox for example.
To solve the problem, first I deinstalled the theme, than I made a full wipe, cleaning dalvik etc., factory reset, reinstalled the newest CM13 nightly, but the problem persists. My beloved S4, working great since three years...:crying: Any idea? Thanks, Niko
I'm having the same problem, using these nightlies updates
It started with the install of the theme. The nightlies are normally fine. Perhaps with one of the next ones, the problem will be solved....

Did you clean flashed? This was happening due to new hal changes. In the 09/07 build, they reverted back to old hal engine untill they get this issues fixed: https://www.cmxlog.com/13/jfltexx

Nop, as this is my main phone I usually just update directly from the update settings.
You should clean flash the latest nightly 09/07, it will work fine after that. Or you can go with optimised cm13 from jdcteam. It runs very well.
