[Q] [KERNEL] KT-SGS4 - MJ7 - KTweaker (too much BUS&L2 OC) - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
first of all, gratulations to ktoonsez for his fine work.
Unfortunately I think I found a showstopper: If I start the Zombie Demo (or the jungle Demo) from MOBILEGPU MARK from play . google .com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.siliconstudio.MOBILEGPUMARK i get almost instandly an app crash. (with default CPU/GPU Speed and Voltages. e.g. Dead Trigger 2 runs on my device for hours with 1890MHz/-100mV and 600MHz GPU/-75mV) Only if I reduce the maximum frequency to 1782MHz, the MOBILEGPU MARK demos run without problems. So I came to the conclusion that BUS/L2 overclock may be the reason for the crashes.
I'ld be glad if anyone would help to investigate the case. Thanks in advance...

Overclocking

Hey all, i currently have Pocket hack master installed and i was wondering what is the best sppeds that everyone uses?
regards BOH113
OverClocking works fine but i don't recomend it, it heats up Pocket pc over normal temperatures and makes system unstable and it crashes sometimes. but if you have 400mhz. i don't think you still need to overclock it.
fair enough then! thanks for the reply,
just a quick question how does the different values affect the CPU / BUS / RAM / LCD??
I am a newb and would appreciate anyones help

Your experience with overclocking?

Hi!
Has anyone yet found out good values for the overclocking? Can the overclocking damage the Prophet (O2 XDA Neo)?
Does the overclocked CPU drain more battery power?
that tool is great to overclock the profhet to 240-250 Mhz
you must test it what for you the best config !
I've been overclocking my JAMin since day 1 (about 6 weeks now) and with great results. I have set it up to overclock @240MHz all the time (do a search for the instructions) and it's been stable, quick and with no major impact on battery life.
Since the last ROM update - the JAMin has been stable with no spontaneous soft resets. Just great.
Nir
is the rom-update available for the o2 xda neo, too?
noch nicht wenn es rauskommt findest du es hier...

The only upgrade you'll get is Imates, qtek s200 or dopods. O2 sucks as far as upgrade concern. Especially in germany. This so called tech support guys still think that you’ll kill the device if you upgrade it! At least this is what they been telling me! The bottom line, get an update, get “fixed” RUU, search forum, and run an update. You’ll loose german rom though unless you back it up using aWizard.
My S200 overclocked about 5 weeks by now. 276 MHz cause spontaneous softreset once or twice per day. 264MHz works fine; it is my current overclock speed. I don’t think it may cause battery drain, but something drains battery randomly. My suspect is Communication Manager.
I'm using smartskey to overclock. When set to 240 it crashes. Anyone knows why? I'm also using O2 and i've made some standard registry hacks (cache size).
264MHz works for me too.
What programs do we use for benchmarking to see what outperforms what
activesync dropout
I can overclock up to 240 but when I connect to active sync 4.1 it keep dropping its conection
Camera problem when overclocking...
When overclocking above 234 Hz w/ BatteryStatus or 216 with Omapclock,... I get strange dots and color in camera...
Anyone having same problem?
Well in the topic about upgrading to one of the latest roms I saw a lot of people having problems with the camera and overclocking. So it seems to be happening when overclocking for sure. Not much you can do about it except clocking it back when you want to use the camera
I have the same Problem. Thats why I use applicationbased clocking with Batteriestatus, setting Kamera and Coolcamera to 195 mHz.
cu seneca
Yeah, same here btw totally forgot to mention that.
I use batterystatus with the CPUscaler option on. At the moment I have it automaticly scaled up to 221mhz when needed. But indeed all the camera apps have it set back at 195.
Not quite sure to what speed I can go safely. Mostly need somewhat more speed with the navigation on in the car. Although that uses the device 100% for sometimes hours. So since most of the people go up to 240 I just though 220 might be a safe number No problems so far.
Anyway, I'm interested in making it a little bit faster. But an overclock of over 20% just seems too much (or too good to be true )...

Uppss, ... sounds great. But I can not find any applicationbased clocking in my BatteryStatus plug-in.... What else do I need?
Thanks in advance.

I have a O2 Neo. and currently is overclocked at 260 mhz. no problem so far.

You need the Version BatteryStatusPlus.Beta1.0.03.zip of BatterieStatusPlugin at the first Message of this Thread
cu seneca
Thanks Seneca...
I had the non.beta version installed, thus not having those options... Is this Beta version stable/well-proven? Why don't they ibnclude this functionaility in the "definitive" non-beta version?
Thanks again, great forum and great support!
Jarel
After finishing the Beta Phase, it will be included in an extendet Version.
On my NEO/Qtek it is very stable. But read the Thread. There are the answers.
cu seneca
With respect to overclocking it has been stable for a long time. With regards to other features they appear to be stable, hence the change to beta status.
The only question is how high you can overclock your specific device. You will need to use trial and error. Note that as the device get hot, the max overclock speed drops. It's a physics thing.

leedroid lag?

Hi, I've just flashed leedroid but I seem to be suffering with some small amount of lag that I didn't experience on the stock Rom..... when I open messages or emails for example there is a small pause, and u can visibly see the screen refresh. I never suffered with this this beforehand. Also I have noticed that I'm getting some lag when changing certain settings, the leedeoid Icon pops up whilst its thinking..... now, so far I haven't gotten around to installing the LeeDrOiD Ace V2.2.5 R2 Kernel, is that likely to fix my little issue?
Cheers
Steve
After flashing, have you done another reboot? Sometimes I find a new ROM doesn't settle until I've rebooted a couple of times. Give it a try and see how it feels then report back either way
Let it bed in steve, should have dropped this in the rom thread

Yup...reboot will fix your problem..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Thanks for the reply Lee, but as citizenlee said, I'm unable to post in that section at present.
So far i still seem to be having the slow refresh issue on sms and emails, do u think that the fact I haven't flashed the Ace V2.2.5 R2 Kernel yet could be part of the issue? I'm certainly going to try flashing it to see if it helps..... I know know you've put a heck of a lot of work into this and believe me it is appreciated, just hope I can get it working as well as it was intended.
You could try the kernel... and failing that a full wipe and reflash of the ROM should sort you out
problem

dear lee i have installed your PERFECT rom 2.2 1.8 ghz
but it has frozen 2 times the screen and after rebooting it stays frozen...?
this also happened with coredroid ..any suggestions my friend?
regards(i am new here^^)
Ok, i think i got to the bottom of my lag problems. I have been playing around with set cpu today. I think the minimum speed of 245mhz in smartass was too low and was causing the lag (usually when waking the phone from screen off) I have now changed settings to 'ondemand' with a minimum speed of 245mhz and maximum of 1344mhz but i also created a 'screen off' profile with a working range of 245mhz to 576mhz which seems to give it a bit more poke when waking from screen off No more lag! ( i still have the visible refresh issue i mentioned, maybe i'm imagining that one though, maybe it did do it on the stock rom but i didn't take note of it....??)
So, i really have no idea if i've done the right thing with the way i have set up setcpu so if anyone would care to comment on the settings i've used please do so.
Many thanks again for all the help.
Steve

[Q] CPU Behaviour

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forums, althought i've been around for some time now. I'm not an advanced user at all and my english is not that polished so sorry if something I write is weird, I'll put everything as clear as I can.
I have a red lens defy that currently has CM9 installed. This would be my second attempt at having CM9 on my phone. I installed it first on march, but had to many problems and reverted to CM7. One of the problems I noticed the first time through CPU Spy was that, out of the three different speeds that the CPU has (300, 600, 1000), it was only running either at 300 or 1000. 600 was barely used (less than 1% of the time). First I though that maybe 600 was too slow so I changed it to 700 in bootmenu. This didn't help and the phone was overheating so that's when I decided to flash CM7 (cm7.2 rc1) again. With CM7 my phone has definetly been running cooler, however sometimes it would start heating up even though I wasn't doing anything to complicated (for example, using the web browser or gtalk for a long time). So I started monitoring the cpu again and found out that the cpu was still running only either at 300 or 1000 (though mucho more at 300 than with ics). Now that I have flashed CM9 again (120605 nightly), things are much smoother than before, but the problem is still there.
I've been looking for possible explanations and solutions but - maybe because I don't know how to formulate the problem when searching - haven't found anyone that has this problem. If any of you knows or can think of possible fixes to try out, please help me out.
Deep sleeping is not a problem, btw, CPU Spy says the processor is asleep most of the time. Also, I haven't been running any scripts, kernel tweaks or anything out of the ordinary either.
Thank you all, I might not be actively participating but I like this forum a lot (reading it everyday!), and the people and devs are all great.

[HELP] Overheating issues

Hi everyone,
Thanks for reading this . As specified above, my phone has a rather serious problem of overheating. To try and reslove the issue I tried modifying the CPU frequency, to set it low enough. And a very bizarre thing just happend.
Opening Kernel Adiutor, I saw that 4 out of my 8 cores (the 2.5 ones) were running normally. No overclock, stock settings, stock governor and so on. The issue seems to be in the other 4 (the 2.3 ones). Both the minimum and highest frequency allowed is set up to the same parameter (1556 mHz), forcing it to stay at maximum clock all the time. I tried modyfing via Kernel Adiutor the settings, lowering the minimum frequency allowed to stock one (which should be around 300 or something), but it had no effects: it immediatly comes back to 1556 and just won't come down.
All of this started happening after i removed Franco Kernel from my system, flashing another ROM (Chroma) with a different kernel altogether. I'm currently on Cataclysm ROM and after doing a clean install, formatting internal storage as well as every other partition, i couldn't resolve the issue. Moreover, Kernel Adiutor sometimes won't even show my CPU settings, stuck on an infinite loading. If anyone could help me, it would be much appreciated. It's really important. I'm by no means Android expert but i do have a rather basic understanding of ADB and so on.
Thanks a lot for your time.

I used to own a n7 and that allowed me to set min and max freq. with apps fine but i am also seeing this on my 6p, i don't notice any "overheating" although it may be due to me being used to it always running hot since i run a lot of heavier programs and also you know... SD810 but i guess it does the frequency thing as a way that frequency is actually controlled on this platform or something, because it sticks fine to the limits you set while flashing a kernel but no app can get it to stick. Then again this is just me sharing my experience with it as it is my first phone with this platform, so maybe someone who knows more about this could offer some help.
