I see from this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147755
that the latest baseband has disabled the LTE workaround.
Is that just for OTA ROMs and updates? Do custom ROMS have different base bands? Is it possible to flash a different baseband?
I'm asking because I was thinking about buying a Nexus 4 and want to take advantage of LTE. Is there a practical way to do this anymore?
Sorry if I misunderstand the nature of Baseband and ROMs.
Thanks

thats an old thread!
yes, the 4.3 update disabled lte in the baseband. but you ae quite a bit behind! theres 2 modded radios/basebands that you can use for lte, thats the hybrid .27/.84 and the .33/.84 radios. custom roms have nothing to do with radios/basebands, thats something you flash separately.

I'm trying to flash CWM recovery and only see Galaxy Tab for Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
For Canadian people (I'm on Rogers), do I assume that I use the AT&T one as it is the only GSM option?. Thanks!.
Also, does this mean that AT&T roms will work fine for Canadian people on Rogers?. thanks.
nothing? I also meant to clarify by saying the ATT one is the only compatible GSM option for Rogers Wireless users.
ATT is Rogers/Telus/Bell, Tmobile is Wind/Mobilicity and Verizon is CDMA.

Thanks. Why are there 3 separate versions in CWM then? Also, from what I understood, some ROMs weren't compatible with different carrier ROMS.
ie. I had a Motorola Atrix and they said not to flash it if you were on Rogers....

Because of kernel differences.
I would go flash richardtrip's kernel. Its compatible with your tablet and it comes with CWM

I have an I337 running on tmobile network. I have tried both tmobile's and at&ts roms and both get 4g but the att&t rom seem to connect faster. I am currently on mdl modem and woul like to experiment with tmobile's modems and am wondering if it is safe?
Thanks in advance

I heard doing this could possibly erase your IMEI number. Personally, I'd only flash my carrier's modems. Just to be on the safe side.
Its not wise to use other carriers modems, and it will clear the IMEI, but I have heard that it can be done. Kinda of a hit and miss thing, if you are going to pursue it, backup your efs first.

Your welcome, and trust me, do not get into the IMEI restore thing, you talking about a pain, try that once.
good choice. in all the diff radios i have flashed on various phones they gave no more than minimal improvement if any
i thought initially the mf3 radio was better, now not sure

I hope I'll never have to go through that but if I did, can you share the steps? With my s3 (may it rest in peace) a simple "reboot nvbackup" and "reboot nvrestore"command in terminal emulator was all it took, and it saved me many times. Would this also work with the s4?

You're right that has been my experiences with different radios also.
replacing the IMEI, talk about a hardline approach from Samsung.
I remember on my S1 flashing radios from S1's all over the world, Europe, China etc etc
Though thanks for this thread, I was actually wondering about flashing a canadian modem, to unlock AWS and since it's one build higher than the AT&T modem
Just a reminder, it is not wise to run other carriers modems, the modems we have are sufficient to do what you need, and if you find a way, you will not see much of a change if any.
Good luck to all.

Hey man, i am starting to think i would have to flash another variants modem on my s4 m919v because i dont see any modem files for my phone on xda or atleast i cant find many because this variant isnt all that common. What do you think its possible right?
Oh and the reason i want to flash modem is because i want to flash an older modem for s4s that allowed them to be unlocked using the *#0011# code and i cant do that currently. I have heard flashing an older one will allow me to unlock my phone.
So to have an unlocked bootloader I got the Tmo S4, I'm going to be using it with AT&T. For best results, should I be using the Tmo baseband or an AT&T one? Even if I leave the baseband as Tmo (It is MDL), after flashing recovery and installing rom, would i install a Tmo or ATT rom?
Dont care about LTE.

Use the TMO base band and you can flash att TMO and others but remember to flash a TMO kernel.
What does flashing the Tmo kernel do exactly? Right now I'm using a Note 2 T889 with with the Tmo baseband on AT&T. I downloaded the cm10.1 for t0lteatt and never changed the kernel.

The modems and kernels are signed specifically for each device anyways, so i'm not sure a custom AT&T kernel would even work on your device. There's not really a difference anyways as long as you have the phone network unlocked.

How strange, the first thing I did with my T889 was flash custom recovery and install cm10.1 ATT version. Never had any problems.
Hey guys,
is it possible to use one of these in Europe with full 4G support? Can I flash ROMS that are meant to be used on the European model and it will fix the antenna or should I flash specific Verizon ROMS and then flash an european modem, if at all possible? I thank any input because I'm clueless.
Thanks!

So you're saying there is zero chance of making it work by flashing something?
Thanks all!

The questions and anwsers but since youve already posted there's no point in posting there.
Yes its a zero chance of making it work By flashing.
since there are so many variants we need a place to have the latest modems for all the different variants
please start add your modems here with details of your variant, model, csc , etc
I hope people to add here. I'd love the latest for Telstra for sm+n920i
Yes would love for people to add to try some others!
what's the use if we can't change them anyways?
You can change them though?
i am not a dev or that fmailiar but how can we get devs to adds modems here

I'll admit I'm lazy. But you can use twrp to back up the radio. Then upload. Done
