So, I flashed my stock ROM, but not my S4 refuses to go back to stock. The recovery is stock and the OS is stock, in my downloads both tabs say stock, but when I boot and check system status, it says custom. Also, my recovery has a red exclamationmark in the recovery. How can I fix this?
What phone model?
If you include your phone model and base like say MF3 or MDL in your profile it would help to better assist you.

There are numerous threads on both of these issues. With what little info to go with I would say download "triangle away" from the play store for the 2nd issue and although it was not my goal when I installed SuperSU as a system app and rebooted the phone the device status changed back to "official" from "custom." There are other ways of doing it or so I read but that was what did it for me and I was evening trying.

My phone is a Rogers Galaxy S4. I337MVLUAMDJ. Triangle away doesnt solve my problems with the red triangle in the recovery. I have removed superuser and both my Download titles say Samsung official and Official. Not sure what else to do.
EDIT: My Binairy Status keeps going back to Custom. I have no idea why this is happening.

I was using my rooted nexus 4 with bootloader locked and stock recovery and my phone notified me that I was due for a system update, even though I was already running Android 4.3. I thought this may be a supersmall release with minor bugfixes as the file was only 1.8MB. I pressed restart and install and the phone restarted and showed an Android lying down with a exclamation mark on top, like you see in recovery, except it said "error" beneath the Android. The phone restarted in about 10 seconds and said "Android is Upgrading. Optimizing apps 1 of 88" and so on.
It is working normally now and not prompting to update, but I want to un-root bcuz I am not enjoying root and I want to flash the factory image of Android 4.3. Please help me unroot, solve this problem and uninstall busybox
I don't understand. How can you 'not enjoy root'.
Do you even know what root does and the options it gives you?!

I recently rooted my device and flashed a cwm recovery. After that i checked the device status and it was custom i was very sad because i knew that i wouldnt be able to update to kit kat.
After reading some threads i found one that it was very weard. a guy was claiming that his I9505 was never rooted (untouched) but the device status was turned in custom and he was asking for solutions. Someone told him to switch off his phone then take off the memory card and the battery, then switch on his phone and go again to see if anything changed.SO HE DID THAT and the device status was official again.
I then said to me: ok this one worked for him because his device was not rooted or flashed with cmw recovery like my device but i will give it a try.SO I DID GIVE A TRY WITH SOMETHING EXTRA.
MY DEVICE IS ROOTED AND CMW RECOVERY FLASHED. ANDROID VERSION 4.3
STEP1:SWITCH OFF YOUR I9505
STEP2:TAKE OFF MEMORY CARD
STEP3:TAKE OFF BATTERY (WAIT FOR 5 SEC.)
STEP4UT BATTERY IN AGAIN WITHOUT THE MEMORY CARD
STEP5:SWITCH ON YOUR DEVICE
STEP6:GO TO DEVICE STATUS AGAIN. YOU WILL SEE THAT IT IS CUSTOM
STEP7:SWITCH OFF YOUR DEVICE AGAIN

I tried this on 4.3 not at 4.4 try this again but this time at the step 8 dont take off the battery first. You must first put back the memory card and after that take off the battery for 5 sec.. i am waiting for your answer.

H'm this did not work exactly as described for me. The phone is on 4.3, is rooted but no custom boot loader. Even with Triangle Away and Wanam Xposed 'fake status' the status kept on being custom (after the Scanning...). Then I realized I had a lot of system programs and processes frozen. Either via Apps manager or Titanium Backup. After unfreezing all apps and removing the memory card and rebooting the device status came up as Official. And I was able to download the OTA update.
So what triggered the Offical status is still little unclear. But freezing 'system' apps via TB which can not be frozen by the Apps manager might have something to it with it.
If the removal of the memory card has anything to do with it is an exercise left up to the reader.

I believe that there is a hidden file in the internal and external room of the device that has the information about custom or official or enen knox 0x1.
I checked a lot of files with ROOT BROWNSER and found a lot of files that are related with these two options but those files must alsow be writen in the internal memory to with another name. it needs a lot of searching. As for the freezing apps i thing that this doesnt affect anything because i have alsow freezed system apps and users apps with grenify app wich i think its the best software to do that.
I had done the CF-Autoroot for my wifes (already second) S4 when it was still on the 4.2.2 back in late September, simply for AdAway, Titanium Backup, and the HotSpot mod. Well, after much time had passed she didn't know it was pertinent, and decided to uninstall Superuser because she didn't know what it was and it was causing her to have "a whole extra page in her app drawer". Needless to say, Superuser was broken, and she no longer has root. I tried just installing the original SU to no avail. I haven't messed with it any further. It's been so long since I rooted it, and it has been a crazy 6 months. I'm a bit fuzzy on the do's and don't's, so I did nothing more in fear of doing something that will trip KNOX or similar.
I've been reading, but can't seem to find a definitive answer.
First Issue - I would like to get her phone back to being 100% stock, non-rooted, no flags tripped or anything. This is the second incident she's had, and I've decided that the few advantages root gives her isn't worth bricking a phone or ruining the warranty and not being able to get a replacement. She drops them frequently, and complains about the Otterbox, so she frequently takes it off...
Second Issue - I have an identical setup - SPH-L720 handset running the stock recovery and stock 4.2.2 ROM, but it is still rooted. Is there a way to bypass KNOX completely to get a custom recovery on there? It seems like every thread I come across is rather unresolved. Ideally I would like to remove KNOX completely, flash to a custom recovery, and install a de-bloated ROM of some sort (Play Edition Clone/SlimBean, etc). What is the easiest and safest way to go about this, with an option to flash back to full stock still being available?
If both phones are on 4.2.2 which is MDC,MDL,or MF9 then you do NOT have Knox bootlaoder so you are fine to Odin MF9 tar or what ever version of those three that you have. And bmake sure to back up anything important.

I have an At&t (though no at&t mobile service currently) Samsung tab 4 8inch. In the last few days it has started freezing SEVERAL times a day. it doesnot matter what app, its likely to freeze on any of them. I would say it probably happens most when Im backing out/exiting an app. When it freezes I can stilll shut screen off but when I turn it back on I am just where it froze -not lock screen, it wont acknowledge plugging charger in, and cant click restart. Touchwiz has stopped message may or may not come up, but I cannot click on it even if it does. The ONLY way I can shut it down then is down vol +power for about 15seconds. Then it restarts and may do it 5 minutes later or 5hours later.
It just started this suddenly. I also had not just installed anything.
If a custom ROM or something would fix it, I wouldnt mind doing that if someone could possibly give me the link(s) to 1 that works for this model and links to how to do so/what I need.
I dont know if it is related or not, but about 3 or 4 days before this started, by battery life & battery charging went suddenly TOTALLY to hell.
Please help me fix this irritating &aggravating problem. Thank you very much for your time &assistance!
There are no custom ROMs for the SM-T337A unfortunately. Is your tablet on KitKat or Lollipop and are you rooted?
You should back up your internal storage and then factory reset and wipe cache in stock recovery. If you are rooted, you should remove system apps that you don't need with titanium backup or something similar. If you are on KitKat you might want to consider either updating to lollipop or factory resetting and reflashing the stock KitKat firmware with Odin.
No im not rooted. However i would like to, but didnt know there was a method of rooting the t337a.
I cant seem to fins out how to find whether its lollipop or kitkat or what?

Settings > About device > Android version. If it says 4.4.2 it's kitkat, if it says 5.1.1 it's lollipop
Thanks for the help.
Yes its kitkat then because it says 4.4.2 . I think 1st I'll go ahead and search how to update it to Lollipop then go from there... Does that sound like a wise decision to you??
STOOPID Question: I went to the posts at bottom of your posts (granted, I didnt go thru all 59 pages, lol) but I have a brain-fart question... would I try to root and then update to lollipop or vice-versa??
I have found temp root for lollipop. Just look in the general section. As you wouldn't be able to ota lollipop while rooted anyways.
I'm usually fairly good at troubleshooting my own stuff but this really has me stuck in the same place for a few hours now.
So basically Flipboard has been nagging me(well play store is, not the app itself but anyway) so I said to myself why don't I uninstall it since I've never used it and don't plan to, and besides I hate to have pointless apps installed. So I open TitaniumBackup and I see it is installed as a system app, I thought what's the worst that can happen? so I do uninstall it and a minute later my phone shuts off. I try to turn it on and it doesn't go past the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 flash screen, it either reboots or stays like that.
I try to go into recovery to restore a backup and I can't, it is stuck at Recovery Booting and again it either stays like that or reboots and does it again and again and again.
Now, I haven't made any changes or installs on my phone for weeks now, so this is either because I unistalled Flipboard(I know I shouldn't have risked it since it was a system app but I really could not see it going this way) or the hardware is on it's way out(don't see what else could it be).
I figured I should flash a stock rom with odin, I can get into download mode, and reinstall everything from scratch.
I took a stock image from xda and flashed it and it does exactly the same thing.
Right now I'm downloading another stock image from sammobile for my country/provider to see if this will change anything.
What else can I try? I'm completely stuck and I really don't want to send the phone back like this, I doubt amazon is gonna be happy about it.

N910F
Emotion Revolution 12.1 Rom
POK1 BL&CP
TWRP 2.8.7.0
Really sorry for the double-post. I'm quite desperate and need my phone for work.
Since last post I've tried flashing N910FXXU1COH4_N910FH3G1COH3_H3G.zip through Odin from SamMobile and it did the same thing with rebooting constantly.
Then I've installed Kies and went to Tools -> Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation and gave it the model and S/N and it downloaded something and everything went all right, the phone reboots and I'm back in the same circle, it just shows me the splash screen(in some video's I've seen that after this procedure they get the splash screen and then the android bot with a progress bar, I don't get that, I only get the splash screen and reboot) and reboots.
I thought this was a last resort thing? Is the phone completely dead or is there something I can try?
Again sorry for the double-post.
Update: still no progress so I've contacted Amazon and they said to send it back so hopefully this works out in the end, no matter how annoying the waiting time will be, if you do have any suggestions on what I should try please let me know as I haven't posted the phone yet.
