[HOWTO] Alarm clock no sound? The solution...

Hi all,
I noticed a lot of people had this problem when I came across it and couldn't find an intuitive solution on the phone.
Some people were having the problem that the alarm clock no longer made any sound even when the phone was on loud etc...
Many suggested reformatting or deleting and recreating alarms etc.
It is not helpful and infact unnecessary.
The problem itself I feel is in the interface and should possibly be fixed (unless i missed something.)
The problem is that the alarm sound is actually muted, when playing, I could not find any way to set the alarm volume, or check if it's silenced.
After hours of playing around, I realised that if I enter the alarm clock settings and enter the sound selection screen (where you pick the tone) you can now press the volume keys and it will show "Alarm Volume" and turn the volume up to where you desire.
In my case it was completely muted.
I feel it's a bit of a design problem, not making the availability of an alarm volume entirely obvious, but hopefully this will help somebody here, or maybe google searching to solve the problem.
sorry to rain on your parade, but this is not actually new. given the fact that it is not obvious to everyone it might be a good hint, but the problem with the alarm is that the sound is not played regardless of the volume setting. somewhat similar to the delayed ringtone problem...

Click to collapse
Regardless of the other problem people may be having, this is a problem I was having and found a solution to.
I don't have the problem you are describing, this help is only for the problem I described where the alarm volume is actually muted.
As for the delayed ringtone problem, I have never had it, but I do notice that message notifications often don't play until I wake the device after seeing the notification light or feeling it vibrate, this doesn't bother me too much since my phone is on silent 99% of the time and the only sound I requiree it to play is my wake up alarm.

Ringtone Delay

I have noticed that when the phone starts to ring, the ringtone is quiet for 1-2 seconds before it comes up to the full volume. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Or is this just the way it is?
Just the way it is. Can't be undone until a rom solves it. CM6 perhaps.

[Q] sound feedback/ screen lock sounds/ audible selection

im running the latest cm nightly #15 and the lock screen sounds are way too quiet. i installed the same rom on my dad's nexus and the lock screen sounds are audible. ive checked everything and i can't seem to find the problem. anyone have any ideas on whats wrong?
Clear cache and flash again...
I have opposite question: Is there ANY way to make those sounds more quiet? I mean, those sound override ringtone and notifications volume and that's annoying. I didn't ever use them because of that and I would if I could make their volume a little lower...
Cheers!

ringtone problems

Hi @ all.
I have problems with ringtone on off in 5.1.1 roms.
When I use vibration mode or mute for a time I can't switch
Back to ringtone on.
I can't move the fader to regulate the loudness.
It stucks on the left side and nothing happen.
I must reboot my phone to fix it.
Someone has an idea why?
I use ringtones from zedge app. Maybe there is the problem?

N910G Lollipop 5.1.1 Notification Sound low volume + echo problem

Hello,
Recently bought a new Note 4 N910G grey market from Hong Kong, and want to figure out if the problem I am having is some dumb software problem, or a possible hardware issue I should be worried about.
The Problem:
Notification sounds seemingly randomly echo or play very softly or get cut-off or start halfway through... it's difficult to tell exactly or to tell if it's doing the same thing each time it happens. Often the second sound will be fine and the normal volume. It sometimes sounds like the sound is playing twice at the same time but too soft and out of sync. I may get two Facebook notifications (for example - as far as I can tell it happens to all notifications) and the first will be this odd soft sound (which I believe is the correct sound I have chosen being played, but with either a large echo or something, and far too soft) and then the second one will be totally normal.
I haven't noticed any issues playing audio. Just with notifications. Seems to happen with the screen on or off.
N910G with OTA update to 5.1.1, XSA variant.
My custom notification sounds are on external sd card, but I think it's happened to some that aren't as well - like the inbuilt Skype sound which I can't change.
Anyone else have this problem? Does it sound like software, or hardware? Any idea how to troubleshoot or fix it?
Thanks heaps.
