Has anyone figured how to change the Camera orientation to Potrait or right handed landscape. I've been able to get Camera Album to change orientation, but the Camera seems stuck.

solved?
Hi, on my Elf I found a Registry-Entry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\
EnableEncodePortrait
1ortrait, 0:Landscape
hope this can help you ;-)
I very much appreciate that the diamond has G-sensor and can rotate itself based on the orientation. And I actually love this feature. But when I am reading or surfing webpages, or doing something else, it is really annoying if the screen rotates just because some minor orientation changes of my device or sometimes when my body moves a little. It is really annoying because I need to wait probably some time to rotate the screen back.
Is there anyway or any program can set the screen rotate only on shaking or define the angle difference of the device to rotate the screen? I really love the idea that when I hold my device and then shake it, and only the shaking can activate the G-sensor. But can we do that? Does this kind of apps exist?
Thanks!
in hd i used to toggle between landscape and portrait from setting - system- screen then portriat or landscape,

hi ..ive got a similar issue .....the only shortcut that works with the accelerometer on my hd2 is the photo album ....the browser etc doesn’t respond the orientation of the handset ??.....any help would be most appreciated
.............
Did you try to keep your screen upright (vertical) when turning te screen? This should at least solve the issue for a couple of programs like Opera in landscape.
Second, not all programs support a landscape mode. There are more discussions on this forum how to solve this issue. You could use the search to find them.
Hope this helps.

I too was looking for a way to manually change screen rotation without using the g sensor however there is (as of now) no app to force screen rotation , if your g sensor is completely busted you will not be able to rotate the screen . try downloading Max protractor from the market and see if you get any feedback in that program to confirm it is the G sensor and not a bad kernel .
Orientation sensor looks like a chip, i see it when i disassemle the phone. And it was broken (physically damaged). If i can find a working one, i try to replace it. whatever...
Yesterday i find a little program, name is "Rotation Locker". It works very well for me. I suggest it...

Is there a way to get the output from the gesture sensor in a visual format? I'm curious what it sees. Is it an IR camera? Or is it something more simple, like the proximity sensor?

I dont think its just a proximity sensor cause it knows in which direction you swipe

That's what I was thinking, too. I wonder if there's technical documentation anywhere / some sort of API for writing an app for it, hmmm....

Install "Sensor List" and it will show yo the output for all of the sensors it can detect. That being said, if I'm correct, you cannot access the gesture sensor. It's Samsungs proprietary API and they have not and probably will not share it with anybody.
