Anyone else having connection issues when plugging their defy into their computer via usb? Whenever I plug my phone into a normal USB port, it begins to connect and reconnect very rapidly. The connected sound gets very irritating very quickly. Anyone know what this might be?

that, or if you're lucky like me, it could just be a bad usb cable. try another cable first.

No notification pops up, my phone just doesnt seem to recognize the cable. Any reason? I was told the xoom camera kit cable would work for otg usb.
hello? can somebody help?
nobody? okay...coool
You'll need external power to power it

its a pendrive, which should work unplugged. It just doesnt seem to even recognize that its there. Do you think the cable is defective?
In the usb otg tutorial video in the accessories section it shows that plugging in the cable without anything attached to it should trigger a notification. If it doesn't, it's probably the cable

okay, I guess the motorola xoom cable does not work for some stupid reason. Or its defective...well ****.
I guess, it's missing a resistor to trigger OTG mode.

in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493&highlight=usb+otg+resistor) you'll find detailed instructions on what makes one cable work and another one fail. apparently, you'd have to open the micro usb plug and connect pin 4 and 5. the connection between pin 4 and 5 determine, what kind of connection it is: charging, sync, usb otg, mhl, trigger download mode... and indeed, that is done by putting in different resistor strengths.
I got one of these, only £2.50 shipped and works perfectly, its great fun plugging in a mouse!
Ok I have the following problem:
I bought g1 without usb cable (original one is curved) and I tried to connect it to my pc with regular usbmini cable from my ext. Hdd and charging works but I can't transfer data cuz it doesn't recognize my device and on my phone it doesn't even show it in notification bar. So my q is:
Does it make a difference if a cable jack is curve or a regular one and does it make a difference for this phone? I don't think that usb port on the phone is broken cuz it charges. Thanks in forward.
I used a cable that is for charging a PS3 controler and worked great.

Solved
I solved it by reinstalling the CyanogenMod. Thanks for help
When i try to connect my phone to the computer using usb cable in the mass storage mode, it works for a few minutes
And after that it unmounts automatically and i have to remove the cable and reboot it inorder to set the connection working again
But still the problem persists
What could possibly be the problem?
What phone you got, are you syncing? Sync settings?

Hello, i'm having this problem for a few weeks now... When I connect my Moto G4 to any PC, windows doesn't recognize that a new device have been connected to it, and also in the phone I don't receive the notification to select the option of the USB usage, if it's MTP, PTP, only for charge, etc. Someone can help me with this? I don't know what to do, I already installed the moto drivers, and the adb universal drivers can't detect that my phone is connected via USB so I can't do anything about it as long I concern.
P.D.: My phone charges correctly and the USB cable (the original) is working because I used it with differents phones, and also tried with different ports. (I made a factory reset not too long ago). Thank you .
(I'm sorry for my bad english, is not my mother tongue)
When you charge the phone using the wall charger, does it say Turbopower on the lock screen? If it doesn't, it's possible that your cable is broken or a pin in the charging port on the phone is broken. Try another cable.

Yeah, it says turbo Charger when I connect it to the wall charger.
Did it ever work and just stopped working recently?
Try USB 2.0 ports(the black ones) on your computer instead of USB 3.0(the blue ones).

yes, was working before, that's why i don't know what happened, it stopped working like 3 weeks ago something like that, I already tried connecting the phone in all the usb ports that i have on my laptop and my desktop, i'm using two original usb cables, because my brother also have a moto g4, when he comes back from work i'm gonna try connecting his phone on my computers to see if both recognize his moto, but i think it's a problem of my moto.
Could be a broken pin in the USB port on the phone. Hope it's under warranty.

I ran into this issue recently. I think the answer is that you need to be an administrator level on the computer to see the phone as a drive on your computer.
No. I am facing same problem as the OP. Already an administrator. Tried in different laptops as well.
This was my issue on Windows 10. What version are you on?
Same. Windows 10.
