[Q] Cyanogenmod touchscreen problems - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every version of cyanogenmod I have used for the G2 (the last 5 builds) does not register touches when running some apps (Monster Blade, DRAGON SLAYER). Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what the problem could be?

i've had a similar issue when running csr racing. just doesnt work at all. rather frustrating

FILLY86, I dont think we are having the same problem. Yours seems to be registering touch events, they are just finicky (I havent had any issues with Firefox). Mine does not detect them at all. Have you tried doing a clean install?
steveo17, it seems like the common characteristic is 3D graphics? Are you using the verizon model?

Multitouch problem in NexusHD CM9 4.0.4 ICS HWA rom

Hey
I installed this rom yesterday, my applications are much smoother, but i have a huge problem, which makes almost every game unplayable. When i try to play the game with 2 fingers, it doesnt respond well. Is there any way to fix this?

That's not a problem with the ROM as much as it is a general problem with the HD2 unfortunately. It only supports 2 points on the screen, and I've found it does that terribly as well.

I dont think so, in my previous rom (Typhoon CM7) multitouch worked flawlessly in the games. After all these updates, how isnt it a priority to fix this?

Because it's working for almost everyone, so it isn't really a 'known problem' as such. What version of the ROM are you on? If you're on 2.1 it'll be a bit shady, but multitouch works as well as it did on Typhoon for me on v2.2 (haven't got round to the 2.3 update yet).

I'll reinstall the rom (now the 2.3 version) hopefully this will fix the problem.

Hmm, try going into the settings>developer options and enabling 'pointer location', then see if both the points are detected. Don't worry if the two points sometimes 'lock together', this is normal for the HD2's outdated screen

I tried this, i can certainly feel the "lock together"-effect. Is that supposed to be normal? If thats a HD2 related problem, how come i havent experienced this before?

As far as I know that's a HD2 problem, yes. You probably have experienced it before, but haven't noticed it because you don't have the visual feedback to show you that it's happening. It doesn't have much of an effect during gaming (surprisingly)
omethek
it is a problem, because any game with a joystick is unplayable.
edit: besides the 'lock together', sometimes when the touch points are close to eachother, they are detected "inversed". is that normal too?
I agree that our device is outdated, but I've never experienced such issues.
I played multitouch games on WP7, Android GB & (Currently) ICS .. Even GTA 3, the movements are precise.
Not sure what you two are facing, but it's definitely not "too-old" related.
The only thing that the HD2 can't do is handling more than two finger points, other than that, everything seems to be fine for me.
There are lockups, but they are rare.

I'm beginning to agree with Marvlesz here, these issues aren't that normal. I've never had the points becoming inversed and I can play games with onscreen 'joysticks' (i.e. GTA3) fine, so I think you might need to take a look at some of those threads with the digitizer issue and check if others are experiencing the same issues.

Getting my nexus 7 next week!

I'm a little confused, is the GPS and multi touch issue hardware or software related? How do I test a new unit for multi touch defects?
How is the Nexus 7 with audio mods? Is it better than the note 2 or s3?

multi touch defect still there, even with last update. if you want a exemple you can't grab and move a icone or sometimes unlocking is a pain?

So it's definitely hardware then? So I'll probably just keep on trying to unlock the tablet and see if it hangs ? What about the wifi problem? How do I know if my device has it? Poor range?
Seems it'll be a big of a gamble then..should I be worried about getting the new nexus 7? I've had the old one and had to sell it in 2 months time because it was getting unusable by then.
I agree about multitouch problem, it's still there. GPS problem was fixed. And no wifi issues on my device. So you need to check touch issues, use this app to do it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt&hl=en
With the latest update, the gps is definitely fixed. I played ingress for 2 hours and the gps was perfect, spot on.
The multi touch is still wonky, not too terrible, but definitely you will experience the issue. Missed touch, locked press, etc.
To test : open Google maps, and try to rotate using two fingers. It won't be smooth.
But, don't worry, this is not hardware issue.
Take a look this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428133
I applied to ts10, and now the touchscreen is perfect!
No more missed touch, rotating Google maps is smooth
Everything else is no problem.

What about the wifi issue? Is it exaggerated or really there? Is it just software? Lots of guys are returning their units for that
Are there specific models / batches that have problems? Is there a way to check the serial or the codes to know if you got a lemon batch?

Everyone has the Touch screen issue, even if you don't notice it.
Some have big problems with the touch, and everybody else has normal use touchscreen issue, the guys that tell you that they don't have the TS Issue is not using the phone enough.

I've been on the stock kitkat ever since it was released and don't have any issue related to touchscreen. The previous build (.681) did have issues like overheating, camera app freeze / lag etc. but I didn't see anyone here complaining about the touchscreen. Maybe I missed if anyone did, but would you kindly elaborate as to what issues exactly do you have? I would like to test it on mine.
Anyway, after a day's use on the latest .757 build, my Z1 seems to work as it should with no noticeable issues so far. No sound bug, camera app works fine (no issue with the shutter key anymore), no overheating or mediaserver issue. Battery seems to be better than on jellybean for me. Also attached a couple of screenshots below showing no unusual battery drain on standby (which many are complaining) of 7 hrs with 1 hr screen on time (with 85% battery left for use).
Wow, I seriously hope the RAM consumption has been fixed. The Z1 is the worse multitasking phone I've come across in flagships, just too much of RAM usage and not enough to go around to keep enough stuff in memory. Now to wait for [NUT] to release the rooted version for the C902.

yes, the touchscreen issues is rare and the Z1 works at 90% without any problem
I had this touchscreen issue only once. It didnt recognize the input and when it did, they were not accurate. But like I said it only appeared once. The only things that are annoying are the RAM usage and the camera app lag..I hope that they are fixed in this update
If you use 'pattern unlock' or 'swipe keyboard' you will have come across the touchsceen issue.
Works most of the time but there is defo issues there!

My XT1540 has been fine as well. The only time I experienced any different touchscreen behavior was using CM13, and it wasn't exactly ghost touch, seemed more like sensitivity issues. Back on stock 6.0 and all is well.

I bought a Gen 3 for my wife and she is having the issue. I ran through several apps on it and did some of the same things she was doing. I didn't have any problems at all. So maybe it is a matter of how a person scrolls or touches when navigating. However, I now have a very unhappy wife who is ready to throw the phone across the room half the time because it keeps opening stuff when she scrolls. And convincing her that it is her and not the phone is not an option. Any suggestions? Does the Touch and Hold Delay help? She is on stock 6.0 and her phone is an XT-1540.

Touch Issue

While using this phone randomly the phone touch seems normal but while playing games like pubg I'm having lots of issues the touch is very slow and screen jumps here and there. Anybody else having this issue? I saw a video which mentioned this issue.
this problem already exists when google update to oreo, this problem is on google source code, so wait for them to fix it, but for some custom rom developer have fix it

Yep, same here brother. For me it was in pubg. For a moment I thought that maybe mine's a defective unit. But turns out it is software issue.
Thank god its the software issue not the hardware/device. The bug really sucks.

Multitouch bug fix by Google
This issue was to be fixed in June security update. However, Google decided to fix this in May security update itself. OEMs were supposed to merge these changes to utilize it. Now that we've already got May security update without the fix, the only way for X00TD to be rid of this bug is the June security update.
