THE ADS ARE SOOO SMALL!!! XD
I love it's especially on the xda app, its in the bottom left hand corner, and is barely noticable.
Someone should start a thread on good apps that work on the Xoom, or start it here, I personally would but I'm new to android, which is why I would like to know some good apps. I mostly operate off 3g connection, which is why I don't want to try the download and try and delete method.
3 gigs 35 dollar $-$ wtf.
Ill start with what I have downloaded that's not a tablet app and works fine.
-Xda (obviously)
-Astro file manager
-skype (I read somewhere that they were going to make a tablet specific version for a fee)
-Dr Webb for android
That's all really.
Two that I dl'd that didn't work were vevo and pocketcloud
Vevo didn't play videos at all but I haven't tried on wifi yet.
Pocketcloud worked like it should with massive lag even on wifi, might just be cause its a free app, I dont know, like I mentioned thus is my first android device. And I must say, it wins.
Anyway, please help me find great apps and ill return the favor.
One awesome one for tablets is PewPew

Lol, I hadn't noticed the ad until you mentioned it. Just loaded xda on my xoom.

yeah i love that. but im sure they will change it and have ads take up more space.
Pay for the premium XDA app. Support the community and it's only $0.99 . I paid for it and I love the XDA theme and being able to set the app up the way I want it.
My xda app crashes all the time. At first I thought it was my rooted evo, but it does the same thing at the same place on the xoom. Hard to pay for something that keeps fc'ing.

I posted a thread about that too but nothing has changed since... Sad to see that our support is not appreciated!

If a tablet version is made, I will definitely buy the app. There are a lot of features I'd like to take advantage off that's not in the free app. But the free app does freeze a lot, right now I'm not even able to get into it because it's been stuck at the XDA loading screen. I can't seem to get it past that.
And I know they're going to make tablet apps with Huge ads, thats why phone apps are better
Hopefully they do make a tablet app for XDA tho, I'll even pay $2 if it has most the features of the site.

When they take out the unneeded permissions (GPS, phone identity) I will. Till then I use the web browser.
Go to manage applications in settings and reset the cache for the XDA App and it should fix the problem.

Did they take out game gripper?
I just got the new psx4droid and was gnnause gamegripper which I thought I had but its not there so I guess I neverdownloaded it, but when I go to the market its not there either
Could it be cuz of the xperia play? I thought it was gonna usher in a nw age of gaming for android but its starting to look like its doing the opposite..

Gamegripper as in the ROM finder app? I have it installed on my phone but you're right, it's no longer on the market. As for the n64 emulator, it was removed due to the dev taking it down to re-release it at a later time (after most bug fixes) due to negative feedback.
It does appear that Google is removing these apps due to piracy of ROMs, though.
EDIT: Spelt 'but" wrong. haha

Kind of hints that Play Station Suite is on the horizon.
According to this thread - http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/com..._to_rom_gripper_has_google_remotely/?sort=hot
The gripper was removed due to the ROM database being offline.
I actually know how to get some of those pulled apps...I can't say the site though because of the apps are warez.
you dont need an app to get roms..
The guy pulled the n64 app to give it an overhaul. Something lik 2 months b4 a release.
As far as Psx4droid goes.. I bought v2 a few days b4 it was pulled. I pulled my apk file b4 flashing a new rom B)

Hence why I back up every apk I actually buy to my SD card with root explorer
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
i did back it up via TB but for some reason when I had to Restore via CWM because of FC's(another story) TB wouldn't let me restore the App. It has the Data but the app just says"?".
oh well... i guess I'll shoot them an email.

Good idea. My opinion is definitely invest in root explorer. It lets you navigate directly to the data/app folder and you can copy+paste the apk to your SD. Plus it has a remount rw/ro button that beats the hell out of using terminal emulator to do it.

Like the title. Do I need an antivirus or am I safe as long as apps are from google store.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I've never bothered. But I read the comments before installing anything. Usually will say if there's anything up with the app. Like push ads. Tho I use ad-away...so I don't usually get those anyway.
Sent from my cell phone telephone....
I use Avast! for both my S3 & N7. I prefer to protect my investments. Comments aren't always truthful & not all apps, from play store or otherwise, are safe.
Google play is not safe as there are few apps which take your phone details like contacts and send online without your permission ..i use LBE privacy guard on my Ace which can block permission for stupid apps to access ur important data ..I highly recommend that

The only antivirus you need is your own brain.
If an app looks dodgy to you, chances are it probably is. If you're downloading APK's from some Ukranian website, do it at your own risk. For the most part, you should be able to tell which apps are secure while browsing through the market. Just have some common sense when choosing an APK to install. Been on Android for years and never had a single virus over several devices.
As with my computers...if I get a virus I get a virus....wipe...install...back to business. That's me anyway. If you feel better with one.....get one!

I've messed with my phones a lot....never got a virus. That I know of. At home I'm thru my router...its firewalled....but I don't see anyone hacking into my phone either way. My phone gets silly and I just reflash.

You don't need a firewall but it's nice to have. I use it to block apps which don't really need internet access yet have it for some reason anyway.

when i tried to download this app it said that it wasnt compatible with my device. however, i saw my buddy who has a nexus 10.1 tablet (dont know what its called)
how do i get this app on my phone. this app was the only reason i wanted an iphone 5.
i want to get the full version of the app. i dont mind paying for it but i need a way to access the apk
i've found some sites that are hosting the apk and data but i'd rather ask here to see if anyone has got it working on their device
i currently have the modded google play store, i dont know if that has something to do with my issue
I might be wrong when I say this, but assuming you're rooted you should be able to edit the build prop of your phone the "trick" the Play Store to think you have another phone. I'd advise waiting for someone who knows what they're talking about before trying what I'm saying.

Maybe the Nexus 7 isn't compatible either? See if you can change it to say the Nexus 10 (I'm pretty sure that'd be the name of the device your buddy has).

This was frustrating for me also on my G Pro but I could download it on my old Note.
This is the free apk I took from my Note. Once you launch it for the first time it will download the data which is over a gig.
Works great for me..I'll probably buy the full game.

Sprint users did not get it and i would greatly appreciate it if someone could upload it for me. A LG rep informed me there is one but sprint did not get it.
I tried like 20 other music apps and just not liking them

The apps are blocked. You can't install them at all I've tried. Unless someone makes a modification to the app or device OS sprint users will be sol. I also want the stock music, gallery and email from lg. I got ten bucks towards a pot if any of you would like to start a small bounty.

There is a possibility that all of you have already tried this but... I could do a backup of the apk and post it. Then download it and see whether they work with your variant or not. (i mean, it worth a try, right? Let me know.
One is the music app and the other is the widget i believe. These ones are from T-mobile's variant, Nevertheless, it is worth a try

Let me try another method. And then im going to zip it. it would be less susceptible to get corrupted that way
Here The files zipped
There. If they dont work, then chances are carriers are becoming even more b**chier than they already are.
in the zipped file you will find: Music, music widget, and email app
Same issue all corrupted

Alright. I checked all the files on my pc using some tools to check for corruption and they pass the test. Which means that,,,, Your carriers are being b**chy. Perhaps the signatures of the apps are different, that's why it takes it as corrupted files. Then again, im barely starting to learn programming and all that, but i have been digging around on XDA since 2014 LOL. Anyway people, I WISH YOU THE BEST LUCK TO FIND THE WAY TO GET WHAT YOU WANT! :good:
Yes I did all of this day one. I quickly realized that the carriers hands were all up in it. Hopefully there will be a way eventually to get the stock apps.

By the way, have you noticed that no matter how you do the back up of the app, there is always a file with a format (systag)? that never happened to me with samsung galaxy s or notes devices. Then again, that file is only showing the apkpath as if it were presenting the file.
I believe the issue is happening because you can't sideload the apps, maybe placing them in system/app but for that we need root.
I may be wrong..
Ive tried several different ways. Even using an app to restore it.. Its a no go. Maybe because its a tmobile app and they use some kind of special security code that prevents other varients. But kbrn post above might be right... Might need to go in the system/ and require root...
same issue and im on att. kind of funny since this phone is marketed toward the audiophiles. play music does decently though
You'll probably have the same result, but here's 3 music APKs from my rooted T-Mobile V20.
If someone could get the gallery to work I imagine it's possible for the music app as well... I hope.
Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk
Want to see this work.. .I loved th LG music player back in the day and dont like play music so much
Can you tell me where in the device the file is stored? I checked system/app but do not see the music app. I do have it installed. I am on Verizon.
