So I thought maybe it was just a corrupted download or something, so I redownloaded and took off to go do some other stuff, and now that I am back i tried to do it again, and it still wont show up in ODIN, tried 3.07 and 3.09 versions, and no go. WTF ? I need to restore it to stock, i sold mine on Swappa cause i got it hella cheap like 12days ago, so its still almost brand new, and since i have an upgrade, and I can sell this one for like 500$ and get a new one for 230$, profit $$ LOL
anyone ? got any suggestions. I have re-downloaded and tried different versions of ODIN, i've never had it not see a file before, its right on my desktop and nothing is working

obviously i tried extracting the zip first lol it wasn't that, it was just a messed up setting i had. it works fine now.
Edit - i am totally lying, i am an idiot and thought i was supposed to keep it as a zip lol, total newb move. Done this kind of stuff with odin a hundred times so I should known better, been modding since the Droid 1 days, so i dont know what my problem was. Stoner moment i guess. Had to admit it tho haha
No big deal. We all forget stuff, and I've done the same thing.
I only use Odin once a year or so (when I get a new phone that requires it for root), and invariably I first try to load the Odin image file without first extracting it from .7z format, then I say "Why can't Odin see this file? I know it's in this directory..", then I face-palm as I remember "Duh, I gotta extract it first"

I have come across at least 10 people now that the below method of restoring your phone, after trying EVERY other way that you can think of, works for
I can not, and will not, guarantee that this will work for you, but, it does seem to work when all else fails..
Now, i can expect of you to have tried at least a few of the following before doing this:
- a CWM Data Wipe
- a CWM Backup Restore
- a (EC07/DL17) clean rom flash (from within CWM)
- a (EC07/DL17) ODIN Restore (Be Careful, heed and read my warning i posted within this same thead before doing this)
IF you have exhausted your creativity with trying to fix your phone, try this:
First, download the following:
Heimdall Frontend: https://github.com/downloads/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall/heimdall-suite-1.3.1-win32.zip
Samsung Fascinate's Stock Param.lfs: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18259212/Phone/stock_param.lfs
Continuum Original Recovery [EC07]: http://www.mediafire.com/?pz8p4axk114092j
Continuum Original Param.lfs [EC07]: http://www.mediafire.com/?7isd5m1dbze6a0t
7-zip (or Winrar for the losers ): You find it!
I am going to make this part quick
Put the phone is Download mode, and install the driver for Heimdall with ziag.exe within that zip... (you will need to check options --> list all devices).
Put the fascinate param.lfs into the param.lfs section.
Extract the original recovery with 7-zip (or other such programs)
Put the extracted file in the Recovery Section in Heimdall.
Click Start
From there, the program should flash the files, and your phone should reboot... You should see scrolling yellow text, and then.... Rejoice
Your phone should be working okay now, but Just to be safe, make sure you restore the original param.lfs before you get too comfortable
If you experience any difficulties, just post them down there vvv ... Again, this is only to be attempted if you have tried everything else
First I can say this method works to get it back up and running (see threads below on what I went through.) With that trailblazer. I haven't re-activated this phone yet because I'm waiting to make sure it works this time. I wanted to turn on wifi to verify I have root (i.e setcpu, titanium, something to that affect.) I can see the wireless signals but I can't connect, any ideas. I would like to have this "stock" version working with a workable nandroid in case, but I guess I dont have to.
edit: you may also want to put this in development instead, probably doesn't matter but I look there first personally for fixes.
yeah, i have heard of this issue with other people...... What other people did to finally fix it was restore a Nandroid backup.... In your case, you can't do that
I would suggest getting blue cwm up and working, and flashing any of the Clean Roms within it.... Making sure you do a data wipe... That's all i can really say :|

Hi all. ..I had an issue last night trying to restore my s4 back to stock mf3.i am currently safe strap 4.2.2.My thinking is go stock....root....update to mk2 with super su survival mode...the new safestrap seems to be coming soon so we can flash newer roms.
I Tried the Adam outler thread...downloaded odin...unzipped file and thru pda I got an error message saying unsuccessful.
I then downloaded the tar files complete from mega and tried uploading all 4 being bootloader etc...and tried that. It said in the first box complete..but restarted right back to odin...no changes.
I do have to add I am one of those idiots who tried to flash twrp from goo manager intially so my stock recovery is gone right now.

So I've had this problem for a while and I think at one point I knew what the issue was, but things came up and I guess I lost my place. I have a GS4 running 4.3 on AT&T, but if I recall correctly it took a long time (longer than it was supposed to in US) for even that update to become available to me. I'm not sure if this phone is set as a different country or something, but I seem to think that had something to do with it when I checked last time. Now when I check for updates, it does say I have an available update (KitKat?) but fails when attempting to update. Download is successful, but install is not. Baseband is I337ucuemk2 if that helps anything. Any help here would be appreciated, thanks.
Install is failing as some of the files it is trying to update has been modified. You would have to be on stock for the update to work.
Remember that there is no direct root method for KitKat yet.

So... pretty unhappy. Downloaded the update.zip and flashed in stock recovery, it wiped my whole phone and still didn't update. I saw a couple error messages appear as it was "updating" so now I'm still on old firmware and lost everything on my phone. Luckily I did a Kies backup but still pretty ridiculous. I still lose all save data from apps and all convenience that there was from using my phone for as long as I did. Just wanted to update, shouldn't be this big of a mess. Not sure what to do next.

Of course you'd prefer a fast answer. We all do when something happens. But it's presumptuous to label a post urgent as if your personal predicament is somehow more important than everyone else's. I know that urgent labels discourage me from helping as much as I otherwise would. Certainly I won't subscribe to your thread unless you remove the urgent label.
You also failed to provide us much information. In particular critical details like an Odin log, verbatim Odin errors, Odin version, your firmware version, et cetera.
First, boot to recovery mode and wipe your system cache. Then see if your phone will reboot normally. If not, then you need to repair it with Odin. And no one will be able to more than guess at what you did wrong unless you provide more details.

An Odin log or even screen shot would be invaluable. And you still haven't told us the exact file name that you are trying to write to your phone with Odin?
At a guess, it's just Odin being temperamental. But I am only guessing since we don't have much information about your configuration yet. Odin is infamous for being sensitive to USB timing just like IOS is.
Use the newer Odin 3.09. Write a pre June 6th build of stock firmware to your phone. Temporarily disable any firewall, antivirus, antimalware, et cetera software on your PC. Do not use a USB hub. Try a different USB cable and USB port. The latter is important. Odin often fails because of a noisy USB cable. Use, borrow or buy a different one that appears to be well constructed.
Also crucial. Ensure that you entered download mode by pulling your battery and then pressing and holding in sequence volume down + power.. If your Odin write fails, do not close the Odin window. Pull your phone battery again, replace it enter download mode again and then press the start (write) button on the Odin screen again. It's important that Odin screen remains open through out.

First pull the battery, wait 30 seconds and boot in recovery mode and data factory reset. If that fails disable Kies in windows task manager. Power down, pull the battery and wait 30 seconds and then reboot in downloadmode and try again.

I feel your pain, this is the one I use. The one that kept failing was the one from sammobile. Feels great having my phone back. Now I need a custom recovery mode just in case.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714455

Glad you got your phone working again. Please link me to the firmware file that wasn't working for you to, so that I can try to figure out what was wrong with it. Perhaps find a way to identify bad files in the future. Or at least build a list of known good /bad firmware builds.

Thanks man, well I would need to upload the big file here. I almost gave up and then xpa came to the rescue.

xda?
You don't need to upload any big files here. Just a link or the exact file name of the troublesome build.
