[Q] Adam Kernel i9505 on i337M - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hey guys,
I just got an S4 and have rooted it. I see that some users are able to use I9505 roms for the I337M devices. I want to keep the stock ROM, but want to install Adam Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281738
Can I do this for my I337M? I want a kernel that supports STweaks, but keep stock ROM... There are a couple features in STweaks that I really need, especially the Negative Colours toggle feature.
Thank you.

Yep... flash away. We can flash international i9505 and tmobile ROMS/kernels without a problem

[Q] ext4 support on i9505?

Hi all.
I would like to format my external SD card to ext4, but, if i understand it correctly, stock kernel has no support for it. Is there any way to get support for ext4, like flashing custom kernel or something? I searched the forums but can't find anything useful, so please help me. The devise is i9505 intl running rooted stock XXUBMF8. I don't mind flashing kernels but would be happy to stay with stock firmware (if it possible of course). Thank you.

will a I337 rom work with a I337m?

Hi guys. New to the S4 here and Ive pent a good bit of time trying to google, research etc. Can i stick the AOKP rom on my S4 the I337M with out an issue? using CWM it gives me error 7 but i can disable asserts right. But i dont want to brick so thats why im asking.
Then i see some other roms like the kangabean he shows to flash his rom but then flash in a different KERNEL. is that because the 337M needs a different kernel?
Can i Flash AOKP with out doing a kernel thing? or would i need to flash the aokp rom then flash in this kernel, take it from say the kangabean page? or are kernels made to a certain... rom?
I dont want to brick but it appears to be alot more info to take in now. I had a S3 and ran the AOKP rom. as long as it was the "north american" S3 then I could use what ever rom. no worries. But here... Seems to be a whole new game... Thanks!

[Q] [I9505] Stay on pre-KNOX 4.2.2?

Hi folks!
I'm one of the the few lucky ones still being on the pre-KNOX 4.2.2, buildnumber JDQ39.I9505XXUBMGA. I own the international (swedish unbranded) version of the I9505. At the moment i have Root and a custom recovery installed, stock TouchWiz.
Now I want to discuss the pros and cons of WHETHER staying on this version, installing a custom ROM and a custom recovery OR updating to Jelly Bean 4.3 and only having the possibility to root without voiding my warranty.
I'm wondering:
Are there are any improvements in performance and stability with Jelly Bean 4.3?
Is there a stable custom ROM?
Is there a stable custom ROM that uses all the possibilties on the SGS4?
The reasons why I want to have ROOT is the annoying inability to move app data to the SD card. I don't want to void warranty.
Every answer/idea/opinion is welcome!

Hi, first of all, you lucky guy can flash every custom ROM 4.3 and also 4.4.2 when no new bootloader is included.:good:
the Samsung based ROMS are fully working. All you have to do is to flash a ROM of your choice and update your baseband. It should have the same base as the ROM. So if the ROM is based on a NB8 firmware, you have to use a NB8 baseband. But flash only the modem.bin file, not the non-hlos file.
for working wifi use a custom kernel like KT or similar.
The performance and the batterylife are in my opinion much better in 4.3 and 4.4.2.
it depends on your using.
just try a little bit. As long as you not update you bootloader, you're on the safe side.

How do I know that a custom ROM doesn't contain the new bootloader? Does the bootloader come with the kernel? If so, which kernel versions are safe? Which custom ROM without new kernel is most stable?
Do 4.3 and 4.4 run on the old kernel? Are there significant improvements in the original kernel coming with 4.3?
After reading about 4.4 I absolutely do not want to update to KitKat.
Many questions but the amount of kernels and ROMs is simply overpowering for someone who does not have the time to read every post on XDA every day.
Seeing forward to your answers.
I'm pre knox and have flashed various rims including the Google Edition roms. Currently I'm on KitKat TW rom using the pre rooted debloated version. You'll have to update to the kitkat kernel but this is included in the rom. All custom roms that are flashable via recovery will not have the new bootloader. Knox is tied into the bootloader. Why don't you want to install kitkat? It's better overall with the new kitkat features.
I run KT kernel it's a fantastic kernel in my opinion and has many tweaks.

Thank you for your answer. I read about problems accessing the SD card in KitKat. Or is this not a problem with custom ROMs? I want to be able to move app data to SD card.

[Q] Kernels for Canadian N900W8

I have a N900W8 from Rogers in Canada and was wondering if there are any kernels people would recommend to use
Preferably some for AOSP and others for Touchwiz as I flash back and forth
I have found a few kernel threads but its never too clear if my device is supported or not
Thanks
You can use any t mobile (N900T) kernels. I prefer lean kernels

Yeah, any N900T kernel is fine. I use Civato's SneakyKat kernel personally.
Thank you both for the info. Im never sure when I get a new device what works and what wont work.
As for the ROMs is it the same thing?
Can international ROM work as well like on my galaxy S4 just need to flash a kernel?

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum, so I'd like to start off by saying hello. I have a question, I've rooted my Canadian Note 4 using the CF-AUTO Root, and I've flashed a custom recovery as well. Everything is working smoothly, however, I would like to know if there are any cool custom roms that I can flash to make my phone run differently/more effectively?
I've looked and seen a bunch of custom roms, but I'm not quite sure if it's safe to flash it to my canadian device.
Thanks in advance,
-Nick

Nick, you need to give this rom a try, its definitely the best one I've ever tried on three other devices. I'm also on the canadian N910W8 so you need to flash a custom kernel as well for this rom to work as its a for a tmobile variant. Happy flashing!
