As in title, can we hope to see Ice Cream Sandwitch on our Tattoo sooner or later (maybe through CyanogenMod)? The Android team said that EVERY phone that had Gingerbread can have ICS: it's the same for the Tattoo or it's not doable due to the limited hardware (I also mean screen size)?

i really hope we can see this happen
but for now i think it's to early to say. high end phones have no info yet, so we gotta be very patient ICS source is not out yet...
so for now, we are happy that we have 2.3.7 which isn't on many high end devices
this is a nice read
http://www.androidcentral.com/ice-cream-sandwich-what-happens-next
We have to wait until Google releases the source-code. After that, we can see if our device will be able to run ICS
I have actually given up the hope to upgrade my tattoo further than 2.3.7, because I don't feel that my phone can use the new features in 4.0 so what's the point ^^ GPU Accelerated UI and better dual core support isn't very much for the tattoo. The ride with my tattoo has however been really nice, and it was a really good way to get introduced to android Galaxy Nexus here I come?

It's sad to say this, but I think you're right :')
Consider that the Nexus S is now almost the price I payed my tattoo 2 years ago: maybe it's time to switch in the near future...
In the meanwhile... ICS IS OUT IN THE WILD RIGHT NOW, GUYS!! So, let's see if there's some more juice to squeeze out from our little tattoo!

Great news!
lets keep waiting
The alpha build look slow on the G1. Hopefully some tweaking could cause performance improvements.

Hi Guys,
What do you think about this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511495
Looks like there's a chance to get ICS in our Tattoos
I have checked it yesterday.
stelios97 has ported it to both X10 mini and wildfire,
so there is very good chance that we can have ics miui for tattoo.
But then I wonder, is there any dev still holding a Tattoo to help us.
Would be really nice to have MIUI on our tattoo.
It would even be better than having ICS!

The other day I read that 2.3.7 source for MIUI was released
http://shrewdgeek.com/2012/02/04/xiaomi-makes-miui-gingerbread-2-3-7-open-source/
all we need is to get it compiled for ARM v6
Where are the developers for tattoo roms?
Arco? Kalimocho? rallapag? you've also done some ports, didn't you?
can someone port MIUI to our tattoo?
i don't know much about android rom development, but i think it wouldn't be much more work to port this miui rom than port some sense roms. a wildfire version is already available.
Its more some driver related things, i think
can someone try it please?
Hi .dot
You know, I am not a dev.
What ever I do, I am afraid it will be incomplete like my sense 2.3 rom port.
We need a real dev, unfortunately Arif-ali as well gave up working on Tattoo yesterday has indefinitely stopped android development.
ics
i really hope that there will be a new rom.cause i´m a little bored with my tattoo and the nfinity-rom. i hope that the dev will start to work on it..it would be fantastic!PLEASE
There you go guys,

Hi, sorry if this has an obvious answer... I have aokp build35 on my galaxy tab 2 7.0. It runs well but the mic wont work so I cant use it for skype. Being new to the world of custom roms for android devices, I dont quite understand what my options are. I think all I can do is wait for a better build to appear and hope it fixes the mic problem. Am I right? And must I keep an eye out for this new build or will it be offered to me as an update?
Thanks for your help.

You would need to post on the aokp website. Nobody here works on it as far as I know.
Sidenote, aokp build 40 is out and maybe its fixed in it? Worth a shot.
Thanks!
Same problem here.
Guys these are old ice cream sandwich builds. Try the newer jellybean builds from aokp. Check development section.
Hi friends......
I wanna know what special feature is available on cyanogenmod that don't have in ours custom roms?? And why everyone just want a CM port on their phone??? What's the benifit of it?
Can anyone explain????
im curious too
sent from my first android phone
SamsungGalaxyYoung
Anyone don't know??? Then why everyone's interested in CM???
CyanogenMod (pronounced sigh-AN-oh-jen-mod), is a customized, aftermarket firmware distribution for several Android devices. Based on the Android Open Source Project, CyanogenMod is designed to increase performance and reliability over Android-based ROMs released by vendors and carriers such as Google, T-Mobile, HTC, etc. CyanogenMod also offers a variety of features & enhancements that are not currently found in these versions of Android.

The "varities of features" are not ordinary ones, and when you use a CM integrated phone, you'll understand better. So, there are many, many benefits. In short, cyanogen mod is like a trip to heaven for our phone.
well it depends in what version of cm but 4 me cm7 is enough... cm7 is
1 android 2.3.7 while our stock and custom rom is 2.3.6
2 it has crt effect when turning off the screen and when you enable rotation on the screen rotates like galaxy s3 or like apples iphone
3. The lockscreen we have ported is just basic compared to lockacreen of cm7, it has more features and more customizablility
4 custom themes are readily available, even OTA i thinkcant exactly remember
5 theres a lot of stuff you can tweak in the system without ever needing 3rd party apps like setcpu, nofrills and the like
These are just the top 5 things i want from cm7
And i know all this cause i used cm7 galaxy S for a day

CM is good
As compared to other custom Roms CM is best you can also compare it with any of the custom roms and ICS or Jelly bean mostly not possible to port in low end devices but the CM is platform that provides these versions of ported roms to low end devices.
Press thanks If I am right

But the sad truth is our device isnt really that low end we just cant make use of the full potential of our hardware due to lack of source code to make full use of the phones hardware capabilities

The best custom rom is the one that works best for you. What are you looking for ? ICS / JB / Hybrid ?? They are all available here, and they are all just a bit different from each other based on the developers choices and flair.
I've flashed them all, and whereas one may fit my needs better than another - it does not make the other a bad rom, just not my choice.
With respect to the time and effort of all the developers here - they are all the best, choose the one that you like best
Good luck and happy flashing !!!

This question is FORBIDDEN! lol
No one can really say which is best. Just check out each ROM's thread and see what they have to offer and try them out. You never know which one is best (for you) until you've tried them out yourself.
I've tried out a few different ROMs and have switched between them quite a bit.
For example:
If you're into the look of pure Android (AOSP):
AOKP is very popular, full of customization, so if you're looking to tweak every little thing, it might be great for you.
CyanogenMod is super popular, has a good amount of customization, but not as much as AOKP
Paranoid Android is great too, especially if you want options to switch between Phablet, Tablet and Phone UI
If you like Samsung's stock look and feel (TouchWiz), but just want to debloat then something like Tab2lite is a good way to go.
This is the development thread! Post questions in the q/a thread only!!

Anybody on xda should know by now that nobody will tell you that. Even if the amount of time and key pressed telling you to search for yourself is actually no less than to just tell you a recommendation. I'm using the aokp rom right at about the top of Page 1.

Cm9/10 are both super stable. Aokp is like cm10 but its got more customization and overclocking built in.
To each his own, try them all and pick one.

Milestone 1 - Calls not working bluetooth (P3100)
CM9/10 - Calls not working bluetooth (P3100)
JB OTA Leak - Calls bluetooth OK (P3100)
First of all, the Development forums throughout the site are for development releases, not questions. Q&A forums are the correct place for all questions.
Secondly, as explained above there is no "best rom". Try several and see what suits you best. You can easily spend time reading what has already been written about them and make educated decisions from that.
Thread closed.
I just got my phone couple of days ago, and today had the time to root it. Which is the most popular ROM for this device ?Is it worth to flash a custom ROM ?I mean for someone who needs a stable build ?Can you recommend something ?

CyanogenMod is always going to be the most stable custom ROM as long as you use the stable releases, simply because it's the most actively attended to and tested one. MIUI, Paranoid Android and Slim Bean come next and have their own perks, but they're just not on the same level.

not really,
other roms base on the most stable rom in existance, google android, aosp. cm must take this base and make it possible for old, incompatible devices to get their share. thats only possible by extending the living heck out of it. some of it is overlaid, some is not. errors come in naturally, that just happens when you leave the safe path of aosp, hundreds of commits going through gerrit stemming from all kinds of sources. dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide, the same speed and level of customization.
as a developer i can tell you that the software i get from google is flawless, they support me with functioning drivers and blobs, documentation and guidelines. i can literally forget about everything else and go wild, extend and create new stuff that wasnt there before. i will never run into the myriads of problems the cm team is uncovering in their crusade of introducing android to legacy devices - and that in my opinion is their true power.
pps- i see you included MIUI as well. think again. guess which is the worlds biggest rom with millions and millions of users. miui. guess whos the only rom that has on ounce of design credibility. miui. they have done things in their freetime that rival professional products and you can be sure a matias duarte will not go to xda when he's out of ideas, he's taking note when miui drops a release instead. i think you are greatly underestimating them.

dont get me wrong, cm is an amazing project. but the reason it traditionally takes a backseat on nexus plattforms is that it cant provide the same stability that aosp based roms provide. it cant provide the same speed and it cant provide the same level of customization. on all other plattforms cm is the unrivaled king, that is true.

paranoid android, just put all the apps back in phone mode and its basically a stock rom with added speed and a few more customizations. plus i like the kernel colors and the custom app colors, very well done
xylon is also great but not personally my favorite, has many customizations and is much like aokp with its own feel
Codefire-X is also one of the most stable and speedy roms out, it and PA are probably my favorite roms right now, and i feel bad its often overlooked, its like aokp with a more stockish feel but faster and stabler at this point
theres also Carbon rom which is made by a few the awesome liquid rom developers, havent tried yet but looks good
Saber Mod looks cool too with its linaro optimizations but as with carbon i havent had time to try it out
there are also some interesting roms like PAC and Rootbox, but those dont really sound like they would appeal to you as much
also keep in mind i mostly prefer the roms in original android development because of the general cleaner feel, but many of the roms in normal android development are also good if you want a bit of a different feel or special tweaks
but whatever you choose, just dont stay on stock you wont regret going with any of these roms over stock
I'm using MMuzzy rom now for some days and is realy good. Is aosp with some optional features i miss in stock rom. I combine it with Trinity four kernel and for now no problems with that combination.
Never like CM or aokp...to much features and never work without problems.
On the road with my Nexus S...
