How to resize MTD partition? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my Motorola Defy today. I can't start the Market anymore. I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747750&page=2
They're talking about [mtd 140 20] to solve this problem. I found out that mtd is some kind of partition but I didn't find any way to increase or change it. Where do I find the settings or what do I need to do, to set [mtd 140 20] ?
Thanks!
IT WORKS NOW I started the phone in recovery mode and wiped the cache. Now it's working. -.- Sorry for bothering.

[Q] Wi-fi 'Error'

Hey guys, did some searches and can't find any help here and I wonder what I could try to get my wifi working again.
CM7.03
2.6.32.39-CM-GB-Faux123-v2.5.2-CFS
I was on CM7.03 and had been using the 2.6.5 until I realized the thread said it was only compatible with 2.3.4 ROMs. I had been having some freezing issues here and there and decided to look around.
I wiped cache and dalvik cache and moved to the correct kernel so now my wifi will not toggle and stays with just "Error".
Any thoughts? Reboot / battery pull is no good.

I would recommend asking this in the rom thread. Your wifi issue might be rom specific and the other users in that rom thread or the dev should be able to assist you better.
Thanks, I'll try that
How did you flash the kernel? The issue is from a wrong wifi driver, which should have been updated with the kernel change.
Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then install zip from sdcard
Fixed, turns out it was a bad wifi driver install and was noted in the original kernel post.. ouch lol. Just pushed the file over and rewrote it and it works now.

[Q] Installed CM7 Nightly build

Hey, hello to all readers!
I am pretty new in this thing of modding the telephone, but I think it is going pretty well.
Last night I installed CM7 nightly build and I am very happy so far. Only thing I really would like to fix are the following:
- I would like to have 720p recording again.
- Fix the issue with the compass (it keeps turning around crazy)
Another question I have is:
I've read in this and in other forums that installing that fixed-sbf could lead to a problem when rebooting, it stays in the red M and wont boot.
Since I was doing my stuff along with another user and saw that he couldn't fix that, I haven't applied the patch.
What would that do? It will update / fix something? is completely necessary to apply this?
Thanks a lot!

If you are using CWM 3.x, it's necessary to flash fixed-sbf. Because CWM 3.x is unable to flash kernel.
Solution for compass issue not found yet.
Sorry for this lame question, but how can I confirm which CMW I have?
I've rebooted the device several times and I have not had any issue and didn't install the fixed_sbf.

[Q] Everything gone wrong.

It's currently 7am on monday morning, and I have college. I haven't slept at all because my [red lens] defy has been giving me problems.
I've been trying to re-flash CM7 to get a clean install of it, with no frills/apps that I've installed over time.
I've done a factory reset through CWM, and re-flashed CM7.1 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan
I've tried finding GApps for this, but to no avail. None of them install properly (CWM says they have, but actually hasn't - It's nowhere on my app drawer/home/manage apps).
I've tried adding an account to sync but when it asks what google products I want to install (such as YouTube, Maps, StreetView), it crashes mentioning "process com.teamdouche.pacman"
That's problem 1
Problem 2 is my Home and Search button no longer work! I've tried everything I could google for, but nothing has helped.
[Edit: they do vibrate, but nothing happens]
Any help on these matters would be much appreciated, as this is really annoying :/ Thanks.
Also I've just realised the apps in Manage Applications are all my old apps, even though I've actually formatted my SD card in CWM since, each has a SD card icon, and is taking up 0.00B space, but I'm just wondering how they even show there..
Did you try flashing the CM7 kernel ?
Or did you mount /system ?
Herpderp Defy.
Here's my About Phone info:
Android Version - 2.3.7
Baseband Version - EPU93_U_00.59.01
Kernel Version - 2.6.32.9-gb08c3c8 [email protected] #1
Mod version - CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-Defy-KANG (CM7 White Rabbit)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510063 <- WhiteRabbit
Do you have a link to the CM7 Kernel? :S
System is mounted
I've managed to get Market installed, but it only opens once, and when I try to download something it Force Closes, and then after that it force closes when I open it.
Flash stock rom for noow ....
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
dude, restore stock room, and try flashing an official cm7, what i think is that the room that you flashed is corrupted or something like that
1º: Reflash a stock room
2º: Get a official stable CM7 room ( http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=umts_jordan )
3º: Don't forget to wipe all data, cache and dalvik cache.
4º: See if that works and thank me for this
EDIT:
Here is a link to Gapps, just in case (http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip )
good luck with your defy

[Q] Problems Multiboot

Hi,
I'm trying to use Multiboot on my defy (Red lenses and GB kernel). My original rom is the latest CM9 by Quarx.
Every ROM I installed (I tried MIUI V4, XIUI and CM10, all for Defy+) I get com.android.phone FC and, I think its because of this error, i cannot find network (yes, I tried to switch my baseband to the correct one).
I tried Multiboot v0.6.1 and v0.5.1 and get the same error. I tried v0.7 with TWRP, but with this I stuck at Motorola logo.
Its the firist time i'm trying to use multiboot, I did all the steps of more than 1 tutorial and give me the same error. Anyone know something I may have missed? I'll keep trying and if I got something i'll post here.
Thanks.
did you get multiboot working?
if not, what error does it gave??
and what steps did you followed???
Basically I instaled multiboot V0.6.1, then installed Multiboot Manager Free and created an image with cache: 150Mb, data 250Mb, and system: 350Mb. Then I flashed one of the ROMs tha I mentioned.
I get it working, I can load the system, conect via wifi, navigate and etc, but after startup I get com.android.phone FC and get no signal. This happened with all the ROMs tha I've installed.
EDIT:
It seems that I could solve it, I uninstalled Multi Boot Manager and installed Vibhinna, deleted the old system image and did everything again. Now I get no errors.
Thanks.
You should also be aware that if you have a GB base ROM you should download the Defy+ versions of the ROMs you want to use in multiboot.

[Q] Defy(+) Crazy..

I installed the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781658 on my defy + worked good, so that does not like her and I put WajkIUI back so that i could not installed it so that when he'll call it the led blue and green so it stands in logo motorola , ai tried to put CM9 called .. so that when that first begins configuration of custom ics he says that it was not possible accesses data from the phone and asks to restart it and not leave it.
Now installed the CM10 and is working, wondered why he had trouble with each other and with the CM10 worked
Hi Buddy.
Did you by any chance see an Encryption Unsuccessful Error.
If so, your /data is corrupted and your phone with CM10 will constantly reboot.
If this is the case, I can post the solution.

Not corruption. He's probably on ext4 data. The old CM9 nightlies had this problem with ext4.
