If I root my phone using the method above, will it void my warranty? I know when you usually root a phone it does void your warranty, but the reason why I'm asking is because towards the bottom of the main post in that root thread, it says this:
"Why is it asking if I want to 'trip rootchecker'?
LG's phones come with some software loaded that detects the presence of root on a phone, and invalidates your warranty.
Rooting the phone, by nature, voids your warranty. You can put your phone in a special mode where ADB shell has root permissions, however your phone is not technically 'rooted' by app standards.
You will not be able to use 'root required' apps on your phone if you do not let the root script install Superuser."
If you unroot and go back to stock it reverts to show that your phone is not rooted.

Yes... rooting voids your warranty. Thread Closed.

What about in download mode? (while powered off plug in usb while holding volume up, to get out just hold power until it reboots) others have mentioned this one still remains in rooted status.

My device won't boot up power or wont go to recovery mode. powering on has no vibrate feel and it stays black. I used liquid smooth.
Where did you get the liquid smooth rom?

I downloaded a 2.9 rom for att only
1. I wipe factory reset coming from different rom
2. I install liquid smooth
3. I install loki
4. hit reboot
5. it ask for fix for root, i slide it to fix.
6. bam! screen went black!
If all of this cant be fixed, I have to take it back to att for replacement and act dumb. I have last day to return today. 14 policy is about to expire 11:59. I had it since July 15.
If you can't even get any power and can't get into down load mode then you probably are not going to get it fixed. Have you tried odin and seen if it will recognize the device?

If you could get into download mode then your not in trouble just reflash stock via odin?

Odin do not detect my phone. It SOL! I went to att today. They told me it was SOL too because this device won't boot into recovery or download. Nothing was turning on. So it was replaced by warranty. I told them I rooted it (not playing dumb here at this time) and they replaced it.
Does rooting void warranty right? I don't get it? But I remember on another forums said rooting does not void warranty? Unless they see custom device and unlocked boot loader void warranty?
Can someone explain clearly?

In almost any situation, operating a device in a way other than the manufacturer intended will void the warranty. In the case of AT&T's warranty, they may have explicit clauses against jailbreaking, rooting, and firmware modification in general. In the terms of the manufacturer's warranty, they might even allow for root, but I'm not sure on this. I once saw someone (reputable dev) post that rooting by itself is not an automatic void. They have to prove that what you did broke your device (which it sounds like what you did probably borked it).
If someone has a rooted device, and suddenly the battery explodes or the LED light stops working (on an otherwise stock rom), then it's kinda hard for them to point at "you rooted it" as being the problem.
But yeah, best to look up the verbage in the warranty, to be sure.
What ROM was on there before you flashed liquid?
And what recovery?
I ask because when flashing AT&T liquid on TWRP at least, you don't flash loki and you also don't get prompted to install root. Not even after a full wipe of EVERYTHING.

Google edition 4.3. Is this more likely caused by it? I wiped factory reset before flashing.

Im sorry if I missed your answer to this i didnt see it. Can you put the phone into download mode or not. Holding power and audio up?
I'm not a master at this, but wouldn't a JIG put the phone automatically into download mode, if its not bricked that bad?

a jig I've always used for my Infuse, does in fact kick the GS4 into DL mode.
After you root the G2, there is a flag that is set which shows the phone as rooted while in Download mode. If you use this guide to unroot, does the "ROOTED" flag disappear from Download mode or is that permanent?
Thanks

Sorry, I wasn't entirely specific with my question. This applies to the international d802 model, does any one know if this is the same? I ask this because the guide for unrooting are different for the d802 and the d800, and perhaps the flag isn't the same on both versions.
I just grabbed a note 3 and its on the latest software MJE( think thats right)..I tried rooting using the veg las vega thin, and it failed and I had to odin the stock files back to get phone working again. So my question is are there any root methods that are working with the MJE? Thank you in advance for all your help

You got usb debugging on ?
Is your computer recognizing your phone ? I would turn on allow unknown apps too
Make sure you have all drivers also I would restart phone while plugged in on computer and see if it installs recovery bootloader drivers also

No, he never rooted his phone or flashed custom fw. He was always on stock.
Update: i checked it now and its rooted, but i can confirm that he didn't root it himself. Will unrooting and factory reset fix the update issue?

OK so my first g2 got stolen, I filed a claim and the g2 shipped to my already has the KitKat update. I know that there isn't a root method for it yet so my question is can I downgrade using the method in the development then root with the method already known? Or do I have to just wait till a method is found for KitKat?

it has step by step to go back to stock 4.2, root, get recovery and flash like I said currently that is the only way for any device to keep recovery on kk(most devices with official kk and sources have got a specific rom to do so)
