now that i have had time to reset the device, my biggest problem is there looks to be leftover files still left on the usb. Ive got 4.47gb available and no visible files in the stock file browser. Im sure if i get a 3rd party file explorer i may be able to find and delete the individual files but i want a completely clean device

Why are apps not being deleted after root and reboot?

I did the toast method lastnight 1 and 2 and now when I delete thing using root explorer, after I reboot stuff shows right back up.
I was just wondering anyone could think of one step that I forgot that would cause this.
Thanks
Roman
Could it be ROM dependent? When I was on the rooted stock rom, it would reappear after the reboot. Since I've been on Fresh Evo and deleted additional programs, it doesn't come back.

Could be, but I am running fresh as well.
I tried DC but just threw me into a bootloop, and i tried it a couple of times.
Hmm, not sure. What are you trying to delete (stock apks, etc)? Only other thing I can think of is that you don't have full root access. But if you did everything in the guides right, then you should be good. You might have to re-do it from scratch. Or at least from Part 2 if you can't find a solution.
If its showing back up you don't have nand unlocked. Try doing part two again and back sure you delete the old files and re download everything. Some people try and use the same zip from part one because it had thee same name but its a different file.

Accidentally deleted gallery

So when I was going about freezing and deleting thing I mistakenly deleted the gallery instead of freezing it since I was switching over to quickpic. I have the note 3 gallery.apk and I placed it in the systems/pri-app with the following permissions (RW-R-R) I rebooted and it showed up and when I tapped it it force closed before it even opened but it did have me sign back into my google account so I'd have all my photos. I even fixed permissions using rom manager and still no go.
I am rooted on 4.4.2 on T-mobile and have twrp recovery but I'm on a stock rom.
Thanks
Try to clear data and cached from app manager? Let it rebuild again.
Sent from somewhere under the sky, at the corner of this rounded earth.
Ok I'll try that.
Tried that and it didn't work.
Any other ideas?

Hadn't. So just like flash a stock rom without wiping anything via odin? I only ask because last time I actually was flashing roms was on my HTC One via recovery.

Yep. Any missing stock/system .apks will be reinstalled and you shouldn't lose any data. Probably best to do a backup first, and flashing the same stock ROM as your current one should minimise the already small chance of anything messing up.
Actually, can't see any reason not to use TWRP for the flash either, since you already have it.

if you reflash stock firmware, u will need to reroot again.
Though u never do a full wipe. The supersu is there, but the binary is gone (can't install the binary).

Thanks. Yea I got it and the gallery back!:good:
Well it sort of works. It allows me to view pictures open and close albums and at first would allow me to multi select albums or picures but now as soon as I long press one it gives me the unfortunately gallery has closed message and I cleared the data/cache to no avail.

Can't restore stock rom s5 verizon

I installed the Rom VZW_BOK3_ODEX_DEODEX_V1 after the 3rd or 4th time I rooted it, and now I'm not able to restore to stock rom with odin. or get into safetrap recovery or flash through flashfire and I don't know what else to do, and it's lagging so much, can't install app most of the time, can't open apps after a long time I restarted it. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to restore if you can get into Download mode, unless either your USB port is messed up or the restore image is corrupted. Check the md5 of the stock restore image you're trying to use, and try a different cord and/or a different USB port on your computer.
Also make sure you're not trying to downgrade to BOD5 or earlier if your bootloader is BOE1 or above, because you can't downgrade.
I can get into download mode, if I flash something else via odin works also it flash the .img it's the bok3 I've done it before, but now nothing work and it's hellllll! I also flashed PB1 that is post on the tread.

What exactly happens after you click the button to flash the stock image file in Odin? Odin should say OK and the phone should reboot. What happens after that?

Make sure you got installed buisy box and safe strap . Install recovery from ss , go to super su and update and make sure is granting the app . Now install NI2 SS flasher for lollipop and make sure super su grant access . Run NI2 and go in the ss. Full wipe then install whatever rom and whatever match firmware with no bootloader then reboot.

Try booting into stock recovery mode (hold home + vol UP + power), and clear cache from there and then reboot.
If that doesn't work, do the same thing but do "factory reset" from stock recovery.

In the safestrap , wipe and just flash the rom then the bok3 firmware ( your choice for rom and firmware , bok3 or pb1 ) . When is done and you see the SS home splash just reboot to download mode ( if not working do it manual ) and odin the og5 bootloader just in case https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347768483. Done , wait 5 minute , if not working reboot recovery manual and wipe data , factory reset and cache. Is this clear enough ?

A reset will resolve just about any issue caused by software. You might be looking at a hardware issue.
Install a system monitor app of some kind to see if any processes are really busy.
It's a long shot, but the only thing that comes to my mind is to remove the microSD card: if that resolves the issue, it means your processor is busy chewing on indexing all the media files on your microSD card and may be getting hung up on a corrupted file. If that does nothing, you might have bad RAM or something.

And maybe the SD card as it won't read it fast.. and when I try to access to the SD it maybe freEze or slow down... I'll check it out
Yes, for being slow I'm pretty sure was the SD car as I removed it and it feels more smooth, do you know if there is a way to keep the SD in the phone?

First, try opening the SD card on your computer and searching for files of size "0 kb", (that's zero). If you see any media files that are zero kb, delete them. They are corrupted and are causing your phone's media indexing to get stuck in a loop. Symptoms of this issue are slow performance and the phone running hot from trying to process the file continuously. A battery-use examination or performance monitoring app will reveal "android media process" as the offender.
If this does not resolve the issue, you need to take more extensive action. First, copy everything on the SD card to your computer, then format the SD card using the phone, and then copy the data back to the freshly-formatted SD card. Then double-check it for files with a "0 kb" size.
If the problem persists, a last resort would be getting a new microSD card.

[SOLVED] Rooting without an SD card?

I can't find this anywhere. Every guide seems to assume that everyone has a micro SD in their phone. Currently, I don't have one. I'm wondering if an S7 Edge root is possible without an SD card.

I have tried the CF-Auto-Root method twice now, both resulting in being stuck on boot like the other times. However, maybe I needed to wait longer? Next time I attempt a root I will leave the phone alone for at least 15 minutes before I call it a failure. Still, the post you linked seems to be for older firmware. Would you still recommend the method for Nougat? Thanks for the reply.

I think I've isolated the problem. After using adb sideloader to install magisk and antiroot remover, I'm prompted to reboot. In other guides, there is a further options screen after pressing the reboot button which has a couple checked boxes and a button that says "Do Not Install". I see this screen for maybe a third of a second after selecting Reboot before the device reboots on its own. Just tried this and now I'm stuck on the Samsung boot logo once again.
Note: There are many errors in the adb sideloader log relating to being unable to mount/unmount /data/ and stuff like that that I know are related to having an SD inserted.
Edit: I should also note that I am new to android. Fresh newbee from iOS, but I have been jailbreaking for the past 9 years. Still in over my head I think.

Update: Still stuck on Samsung boot logo after 15+ minutes after successfully loading from usb drive. TWRP still skipped right by the reboot options screen after the install... I have no clue why it's doing that. It's like it's taking the command to reboot after I press the button and processing it while it is going to the next screen. I don't know. Hopefully someone does. Samsung S7 Edge Exynos bootlooping because of full storage

So this is kind of a dumb story but I wanted to try out Apex but Google Play didn't let me install it even tho I had 2.5 GBs of storage and 60+ GBs of storage in SD card. I downloaded an XAPK and manually placed files however when the file is on SD card it didn't work so I decided to transfer the data to internal. While transfering the data phone shut down (I'm sure it's because of full storage) and now it's bootlooping. I somehow need to access the storage and delete that OBB file and if possible, with keeping my data.
Sorry if I made any mistakes while posting, I'm new here and I'm kind of in a panic rn.
PS: I can access download mode and the recovery menu.
if you are using a custom recovery you can use it to access the memory and delete the file, if dont, factory reset is the fast option

I'm not using a custom recovery, if it doesn't require me to factory reset I'd rather setting up one. I have important docs in this phone.
I guess it will trigger my Knox warranty bit but I don't know if I should care it right now.
