This is very very small, but I use Chrome for everything. I just upgraded from my Note 2 to a Note 3. I use the built in time and weather widget from Accuweather. When you tap the widget you get a more in depth view of the weather, however to really see what the day is going to be like you need to click the more button which takes you to Accuweather mobile. On the note 2, when I tapped the more button, the website would open in Chrome. On the Note 3 it opens in the Internet app. I have tried to clear defaults for both the weather app and for the internet app, but it always opens in the Internet App. There is no prompt to choose Chrome over the Internet.
Any thoughts?
It seems that the Internet app cannot be disabled without rooting and using an app like Titanium that can 'freeze' it. I find the default internet app very annoying as it constantly 'talks' if any accessibility functions are enabled like Tasker, Lightflow, Pebble etc.
Whether this is caused by the app itself or Touchwiz or Android itself remains to be seen.

So I recently installed Facebook home on my S4, and it seemed pretty cool.
One thing I want to ask are the privacy concerns. I unchecked the option to use Home as a home screen and app launcher.
I did put Use Home as a lock screen.
How much Data can they collect from me if I do that? If I use Touchwiz to launch all my apps instead of using FB home to do it.

How do you add a settings shortcut for battery and wifi manager on the home screen? I've been scouring through the widgets and nothing seems to appear, normally with all other phones a "settings" widget is available and you get to choose which settings you want a link to.
Thanks

i was using the galaxy note ii for a while and loved settings widget/shortcut. i moved on to the galaxy note 3 on a different carrier. i also have sm-n9005. both note 3s do not have the settings widget. it is frustrating. what i recommend is installing action launcher by chris lacy. it will add 2 widgets to the widget launcher/menu. choose the activities widget. the list of apps and settings that populates is more extensive than the note ii's version. there you can add bluetooth, data usage, wifi, and tethering one by one. after creating all the shortcuts i needed, uninstalled action launcher. remember to keep touchwiz as your default launcher in the beginning of the process.
(on a side note, action launcher is great. i even purchased the pro key. however, i just don't like the way apps look in folders. in addition, 1x1 widgets do not align properly with regular app icons sometimes. as for 4 row widgets, it automatically adds margins/padding so they look more align with other same sized widgets. some 4 row widgets on touchwiz go edge to edge which is annoying. in regards to the s pen features, air command did not pop up on action. honorable mention, shutters is a great action feature. last mention, i don't use action on the note 3.)
I realised that if I disable the stock music app, it's widget is automatically disabled and I lose the quick window widget too. That would be fine, only double tap to off no longer works on the clock widget, only the weather one.
Now if I disable the clock widget too, the weather widget's double tap to off disappears as well.
Anyone else has that prob too?
Enabling the music widget ONLY(in settings doing this also enables the music app) using TiBu solves the problem but leaves a useless and ugly music widget behind :/

Oh i've also thought of a few solutions
1. Use exposed to change the lock screen widget to simply pause/play and next and previous buttons that work with all apps
2. Modify the apk to do the same thing
3. Find the source of the bug?

I never noticed it before but I can confirm my VS980 on CleanROM behaves as you describe. I never use the knock on feature...
Has anyone had a problem where widgets will not update (for example, weather widgets don't refresh and switch widgets don't show a change in state)? I had thought I traced my issue to Be weather, and switched to Beautiful Widgets and after working fine for a day or two it has started to cease updating every few hours and require me to restart the launcher. I noticed this on Apex and Go Launcher.

Some Samsung specific widgets will not update if you are using a different launcher

The widgets I am referring to are third party - BeWeather and Beautiful Widgets appear to potentially "cause" an issue, but once the issue occurs, all widgets are impacted.

My internet access works fine (I still get emails) - and once I restart the launcher it automatically updates. Plus I have played with the network optimizer function (new feature that will go on and off WiFi depending on the ability to get on the internet) on and off and the same thing happens.

The re-update switch in the widgets doesn't work. Updating launchers and widgets to latest versions does not work. All widgets just become unresponsive including switch widgets (I use switchpro). They will perform the function (I.e. on a weather widget the update happens in the background and the switch will perform whatever function its tied to) but it will not display (I.e. the switch widget will not show the change in state and weather widgets will not show the updated weather).

Lol - I hang out with all apple guys. I do know one person with an S5, uses Go Launcher and has this issue with the Accuweather widget and the stock weather widget (which I believe was also powered by accuweather on the back end). I noticed that, regardless of the widget I was using, I still show BeWeather as an active process, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I still have the issue however.
PS - I have no issues with my Nexus 7 (2012) which runs Kitkat as well.
Interestingly enough, the problem seems to have fixed itself. There were updates to Apex in the meantime, perhaps its that.
My friend with Go Launcher is also seeing the same impact - the issue is gone.

Calendar widget quit updating
Just today, my calendar widget stopped updating. Just says "No upcoming calendar events." I've tried the stock and Agenda Widgets - nothing. I'm running Google Now launcher, but they don't work in Touchwiz Launcher either. I noticed yesterday that the number of items on the widget began to dwindle.
Any fix for this?
Well, trust me I did everything for my Xperia L when I encountered this problem.
What I did for my device

Look two three posts before it for more information!
What fixed it was taking battery out for few minutes and putting it back again!
Hey guys, if you stop the cashed process for touchwiz home, the widgets immediately start updating. I'm using a verizon Samsung galaxy s5 4.4.4 kitkat. Just thought I'd throw that in...
No matter what app I have opened, my S8 unlocks to the home screen. Using action launcher beta. Could they be a launcher problem or phone issue?
I'm not sure, but mine doesn't do that and I'm using Nova launcher. Can't remember on Samsung launcher. Try Nova and just see if it does it. That will rule out ether the phone or launcher

I have the same thing, I've been using Waze lately and whenever I unlock it goes straight to the home screen.
Haven't had the chance to install Nova on my S8, not that I need it too.
Uninstalled action launcher and installed nova prime and its still doing it across stock and installed apps. Trying another restart.
edit: so right now it seams to work 50/50. pattern doesn't open up to the last opened app. It almost always opens to the launcher home screen. fingerprint sensor almost always opens to the last used app, but sometimes doesn't. this is after about 20 unlocks on different apps (messages, audible, samsung browser, play store)
edit 2: so I uninstalled adblock, adhell, and then deleted all folders that were not in use from the "my files" app and then did a restart and that seems to have fixed my issue, at least for now.
Do you use BxActions or any similar apps?
