Does anyone know of a good app to back up phone data to PC?
Can anyone offer some good tips on how to use Titanium Backup and back the files up to PC?
Any tips and tricks that you can share to protect data to a PC sense the G2 does not have a removable memory card.
Thank you
Hopefully some people can add some tips here?
there is an app called Helium. it will allow you to make backups to your phone or a cloud service.
works quite well
Titanium backup can do backups, then sink them to Drop box automatically.
Thanks Devs. From my VZW G2.
Any more folks out there with any tips or tricks to help with my main post??
Thank you

I have been trying to find a way to back up an app named Alice, you input your favorite bands and it lists their gigs in order of how close they are to your location. I have used Titanium to back it up, but when I restore the back up, none of the artist information that I had entered is there. Someone please tell me that I won't have to reenter all of the musicians everytime I update a rom!
P.S. First post, been using the site for a while. A MILLION THANKS to all of the devs, customizers and board members. I have learned so much from all y'all!
Titanium backup
Use titanium backup to backup prefs and data if u have android phone
Let me be more specific about what I have tried:
When i am running my everyday rom (pancake 0.1), The symbol in Titanium indicates that it has backed up Application+Data+market entry for Alice.
Been playing around with Fresh 2.0. Downloaded Titanium on that rom, restored the Alice app with data through titanium, but none of the artist data transfered.
Don't tell me I've stumped the great minds of xda! I thought it was such a noob question.
Hmm... I know many ways you can back-up apps. As for backing up data INSIDE of an app, you can't do it unless the app has it built in... Let me download this app and see what I can do. I will BRB with more
Ok, so here what you are going to need to do. Go to http://last.fm and sign up. You then need to list all of your artists on that account. NOW You can just install the app and enter in your lastFM username and it will add all of your artists. ALSO, This app auto-scans your SD Card for artists (Which is actually very useful) anyways, hope this helped a little.
Thanks a bunch! That will fix it!
Don't know why I didn't think about going the last.fm route.

The Nexus S will mount USB storage to your laptop the exact same way that the Nexus 1 does.
You can plug both into USB, mount the storage, then drag and drop what's on your external SD card that you want to copy over from the N1 to the NS. Quick and easy. It's what I did with my NS; and allowed me to hand pick what I wanted to transfer over rather than bring along all the clutter and garbage from my SD card that was left behind from old programs I don't use any more.
Apps and settings are just showing up for some people because of the sync restore option with Google server if you enable it on both devices. Didn't for me, though.
appbrain is a good way to get all your apps over, but it won't get your settings and app data.
If you're N1 is rooted and you're happy rooting the NS then titanium backup is a quick and easy way to move over your apps whilst retaining all the user data. (Rooting both phones is cake and can be fully reversed)
In addition, something like sms backup and restore works nicely for SMS messages.
Any other settings will have to be re-applied manually but contacts etc will sync down no problems.
If you're not rooted then your new apps should sync back from market anyway (you may need to ensure data backup is checked on your N1 - can't remember)
As the chap above mentioned though, the NS internal storage mounts as a USB mass storage device anyway so music/any other data can be copied over easily.
I did it via TITANIUM BACKUP
1 click of a button and everything was there
the only thing i had to copy & paste manually were the MP3 and Videos
having both phones connected via USB (through a PC)
just drag and drop the stuff from one phone to another phone
I did this drag and paste but for some things did not work. For music and pictures it worked well but for an example I have Color Note which I was able to drag over. Color Note is an application that allows you to take notes. After dragging and pasting it I went into my Nexus S and was unable to find Color Note. I also was unable to find Astro. I bought Astro Pro and downloaded that as well. After downloading it I was unable to find Astro Pro on my Nexus S In Market it tells me it is installed and it does so under applications as well when I go to settings and then applications but I can not find it nor open it
for Apps/Games & settings you need to use backup software like Titanium Backup

Titanium's great if rooted. I would be cautious with Titanium, though. Make sure to only restore APPS data/settings. Not sure you want to be restoring SYSTEM settings from one device to another, let alone one version of Android or another. I've seen people report issues restoring settings from just one ROM version to another.
As long as he doesn't restore EVERYTHING then it is safe
just make sure to select ONLY
Restore User Apps & Data
Thanks for your help
Hello to all!!!
Many thanks for your help..
I've already receive the phone and transfered all the stuff
first impressions.....
It's an amazing phone....fast fast and even more faster that the n1....
Thanks
I'm just wondering of anyone out there got tired of having TiBu eat up 1-2 gigs of otherwise usable storage. I would much rather have that space for some hi-def games or music.
If so, does anyone know of a good primer or website with some instructions?
No I don't backup over adb. Titanium backup has a feature to sync your backups to cloud services such as drop box. Or alternatively you can back the backups locally on your computer by simply just pasting the folder onto your computer

Hello XDA fellows
I'm doing a RMA and expecting my new N4 within a few days. My question is can I transfer my app's data folder from the old N4 onto my PC then later put them into the new N4? Does app's data included device's ID in it? Especially Titanum backup.
Any inputs are highly appreciates
Thanks

The answer to your first question is YES. I transferred my apps + data from my Galaxy Exhibit to my Nexus 4 without any problems using Titanium Backup, so I don't think device IDs are included.
Just remember though, If an app has a Google Play License check (or any, for that matter), it should still work on your new device, given that you sign in with your Google account.
Thank you for your input. Much appreciated
to bakcup the app data istelf ( like my precies save in gta vice city ) i used Carbon from CWM team, great app, can be used unrooted,
just backup to the computer very easy (not to cloud service, you can backup to cloud for free but to restore for charge) and the restore is very easy , recommended alot !
Or just move to PC. Then to new phone...

OK! Don’t worry! In this technological era, the accidental formatting problem cannot be a big deal. The deleted files often can be easily restored with the help of a data recovery program.
So, in your case, I hope you can act carefully to restore all your wanted files back as below:
1. Stop using the Samsung phone right now in case that any new file on it may overwrite your original data.
2. Plunge this phone to you computer so that you can begin to retrieve your data.
3. Download a phone data recovery program to retrieve all your lost data back.
Nowadays, there are plenty of data recovery programs available online. But, not all of them can work as efficiently as you think. So, you should select a most proper one for your data after doing much searching.
But, if you still doubt, you can firstly take chances with some phone data recovery freeware that work much more efficiently than some paid ones, such as Recuva, TestDisk and iCare Data Recovery Free, etc.
4. Do not save or back up all the restored data on the same phone in case of any data loss.
In the future, you should learn a lesson to be more careful about your data and always back it up well.
I hope my words can help you out!

5. Forget the technological era... Honestly, you are ****ed... If you do find a software that recovers the data... Let me know... Try google + (for pictures) this time around... At least pictures will not be lost the next time. Also always try to configure apps to save data on sdcard instead of internal memory. Take care...
