TiBu should be able to read the Nandroid but it might only read "certain" nandroid (TWRP vs CWM vs $randomrecovery). If you don't know how to use Helium, well, read the directions.

I know you should make a backup. So when you wipe and flash a new rom and kernel, do you restore data and that will restore all the programs you had prior at the time of the backup?
Thanks.

If you do an advanced restore of your data through CWM recovery, yes it will restore all your programs and settings. However, this can cause problems as the old data does not get along with some ROMs.

So it is best to just reinstall programs?
I would use Titanium Backup or My Backup Pro to back up you apps+data. After the flash you can either restore everything from the backup or just the data. Some people have said that it's best to re-download your apps from the market and only install the data from the backup (as opposed to restoring app and data). I don't know, I've done it both ways and have never noticed a difference.
Hey Guys,
I want to update to 4.3 now with the Tools offered here, but this time on my Phone are a lot of data that I want keep save.
So what is the best method to backup and restore them? Shall I use TWRP and save all of it? Or shall I use other Stuff.
I also have Titanium Free Version. But this will not save my Data I asume?
best wishes,

Hi,
TWRP offer "nandroid backup" which is a phone backup solution, it work best to restore everything if you system data goes wrong and unable to start your phone. It also means you cannot selectively restore certain apps that you want with TWRP alone.
You can either use Helium (formerly Carbon) or Titanium Backup to backup your user apps. It will save your data so no worries here. For Titanium Backup to work, you need root. Helium works fine without root, but you need to install the desktop client.
Hope it helps.
Thanks for this tipp:
so if I make Nandroid Backup and Flash new Rom (4.3) and restore a nandroid Backup it go down again to 4.2.2 or it recover just apps / Images etc. to it?

Nandroid backup works like a system snapshot, so yes it will go back to 4.2.2 in ur case. Pictures & musics in /sdcard (/data/media) is untouched, they won't be backed up when nandroid or wiped when you do factory reset. It's an isolated zone for custom recovery.
I am new to this rooting world....I rooted my nexus 4 a week back using Nexus root toolkit v1.8.
I then flashed cm11 onto my phone.
I have TWRP recovery on my phone.
I want a full backup of my apps+data+ROM. How's this possible?? Which of these backups allow this..... And how to do these backups.
Also can anyone explain what a kernel is??
Titanium backup can only backup part of your data. Simply because apps can't access everything.
If you want a full backup, you should make a nandroid backup. Which is simply the name for a backup you do through your recovery. (TWRP in your case)
And the explanation of a kernel is really easy to find. So you'll have to use Google for that (I can't really think of a good explanation atm)

How to perform a full nandroid backup using TWRP recovery??

Just use the backup toggle in twrp. And no, you can't backup direct to your pc. But afterwards you can copy the backup to your pc. It's good practice to have at least one recent backup there just in case something happens where you'll need it.

First, don't use rom manager. You don't need it
A nandroid is like a copy of the entire os and all your apps and user settings. If your running rom2 and you restore rom1 all your settings of rom 2 will be forgotten and the ones you had in rom 1 when you backed it up will be restored.

Although this is not really accurate, but this is as close as I can get to. Think of a phone like a car. The engine part which is essential to make your car runs is your kernel while the body, doors, sidemirrors and everything else are part of a rom. Kernel is in the deeper layer of the system.
After recovering a Nandroid backup i'm getting a dozen of app force closing
What to do ?
Flash stock and don't use a nandroid backup?
There are tools on the play store that extracts segments of nandroid backups.

Out of curiosity, which recovery did you use?
I use Chenglu's CWM, I've backed up and restored more times than I can remember, without issue.
Also, did you restore from TB? If so you may want to look here.
Good Luck.
My recovery is CWM
What I did step by step :
- Backup Nandroid Backup
- install some stuff through CWM (flash some .zip)
- see that the zip's aren't working
- Restore Nandroid Backup (complete)
- Reboot
- As soon as I'm in my launcher, a bunch of apps force close....
I wasn't aware of the TiBackup bug on the Note 3, thank you, I already had apps stuck trying to be restored on Tibackup
So I guess it is time for me to find a new rom to start a new life, gosh I had more than 200 apps on my Note 3
Tired of Touchwizz based rom but can't do without spen and camera sharpness
Also going to find a better recovery

Power on the phone, go into settings and go into "Backup and Reset"
and there you will see the option "factory data reset".
Select the factory data reset and most likely it will solve
the FC issue you are experiencing.
Good luck!
Is it possible to choose what app to restore when you back up in recovery?
Only if you use Titanium Backup to restore the DATA partition instead of TWRP, TB can read and restore TWRP backups
Ohh sad i ddnt know that im too ate then. But thanks ill remember it next time
