Hi guys,
After rooting my phone, I got strange notification when connect to WIFI from the first time.
The message is : 'xxxx no response from the internet' where xxxx is a network SID. But internet connection still ok.
Before rooting, never got this notification. Do you know how to get rid this message?
Tried to Advanced WIFI setting and unchecked Network notification, but no avail.

Hi,
Has anyone had any trouble getting notifications for networks to connect to? When I have WiFi enabled and there are open networks I have to go into wireless settings to connect...
Are there any WiFi scanning apps worth getting to make it easier?
Cheers

Nope, I get notifications fine; I just pull down the bar and tap the notification if I want to connect. "Network notification" in "Wireless settings" hasn't disabled itself?
Nope, notifications are still on. Tried tiring them off/on but nothing comes up.
Hello!
I have installed udK_Leo_R2_WM65_WWE ROM from XDA to my Topaz.
My problem I am getting "Cannot Connect" Popup very often (abt every 2-3 minutes).
Here is the entire text in popup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cannot Connect
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dialed
--------------------
The answering modem has disconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if need, tap settings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I have done is gone to settings and removed all the modems that connect to interent. I have also disabled all the apps & background tasks that needs internet.
And also installed no Push Internet Cab for Topaz from here.
Still it did not fix the problem.
The main problem is when ever this happens the display is on and so it drains battery in 6 hours.
Please, help me how to fix this. Where can I disable this.
Thank you!
Hello,
I apologize if I have missed this asked in the forum, or in the phone settings for that matter but is there a way to disable the notification sound on the phone. I seem to be getting notifications whenever it connects/disconnects my wifi or whenever it changes service from GPRS / Edge / 3G.... at least I believe this is whats causing the notifications as there is nothing noted in the notification bar. I have disabled the notification for "Network Notification" however this just means I don't get notified about open networks in the area.. it still notifies me when my home wifi connects.
Other than that I'm loving the phone! I was rocking a G1 with a Cyanogen ROM which was great but was looking for something to be a bit more snappy... I will say i've been very surprised at how snappy this is.
if you go under the 'mobile networks' area under 'wireless & networks', there is an option to play a sound when you go into roaming. also under the wifi settings there is a check box for a notification when an open network is available.
check that out, should solve the issue
Thank you i0nicx , i ended up stumbling upon this on my own but u are correct this is what fixed the issue :

Hi! I just started getting this message constantly: "Connecting to T-Mobile Data, Connecting to GPRS" around every hour or so (along with an audible alert which is the problem). I don't know what it means, or how to change it. I don't seem to have any problem using the phone, but the constant audible alert (ie. at night) is what i would like to at least stop. I do not have a data plan, I only connect to the internet with a wireless connection. Thanks so much.

No, settings - cellular and inside cellular you will find data conection and set it to OFF.
OFF means you will only have internet conection and sync only when you turn wifi on.
[Q] "Checking the quality of your internet connection..." when connecting to WiFi
Hey,
I'm wondering if anyone else is getting the message in the subject when connecting to WiFi nets? I just got this out of the blue and now I cannot connect to any WiFi net.
It first tries to obtain IP and then that message shows. I've never seen it before on any Android phone.
I tried clearing caches, changing recovery, kernel etc. I'm running stock i9505 (XXUAMDE).
I've tried several WiFis.
Any advice? I tried searching high and low for the message but can't find anything.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
My S4 worked fine until today. Now I can't connect to my home WiFi. It just "checks the quality of the internet connection" and then later tries to obtain an ip address. I tried changing the name of the wifi, turning off the phone that tethers the connection, etc. etc. Nothing works. Come on, Samsung!

Nobody?
I got the exact same "checking the quality of your internet connection..." issue straight after flashing CF-Auto-Root on my newly acquired phone. Were you able to solve this problem? What was your solution?
update please! I have the same problem!

Here’s the incredibly simple way to fix the problem:
To disable the feature and save yourself the trouble of having to wait for your device to reconnect to the WiFi network every few minutes, just head on over to your Settings app. Once there, make sure you’re in the Connections tab; tap WiFi, your Menu key, and Advanced in the context menu that pops up; and uncheck the box that says “Auto network switch.”
This will disable the “Internet connection is slow” message that appears under the disconnected SSID and will allow you to use WiFi without being disconnected.
Does not work for tablets.

Tablets without GSM don't have that check box — but can still have that problem.
Checking the quality of the connection when there is no alternative. WTF.
I understand it is an old thread, but if it may help someone. I was facing the same issue in a Samsung phone. My router had a security settings enabled which was causing the issue. My router model was TPLink. In the advanced security settings, there was 'DoS protection' enabled. I disabled this, and Internet started working in the Samsung phone.
