I figured... Tried everything.. That's strange.

Yeah, it's infuriating. You can change it on the Note 2, the Note 8, and the Note 10.1, so I'm hoping it's some sort of glitch in the new 4.3 version of S Voice and they'll fix it soon.

Settings, Device, Lock Screen, Wake up in lock screen (click on the text), Wake-up function 1, Unlock, Record a new command, like 'Hey, Unlock Damn It!"
It will unlock the lock screen, but doesnt seem to work with the screen is off (need to be at the unlock screen) and it doesn't seem to automatically start S Voice.
Hope it helps some...

At some point, I want to get around installing the older APK from one of these devices to see if I can change it then. The question will then be, does it still take advantage of low power core. I'm not sure if anyone has already tried this.

[Q] Missing - lock screen shortcuts, ability to change bottom row of apps

Hey everybody,
Long long time reader, first time poster.
I've just bought a Galaxy Note 3, because I was so happy with the Note 2 I just had to have the new one.
To my surprise, there's a couple of fundamental features missing from my ****ty AU version (my Note 2 was an International Version).
There doesn't seem to be an option to enable lockscreen shortcuts, I've seen videos online of people enabling these on their respective Note 3's, but the AU version just doesn't seem to have it.
The other thing that is really grinding my gears is that the bottom row of apps on the homescreen is locked. Ie. they can not be moved or changed (Phone, Contacts, Messages, Internet, Apps), why in gods name would Samsung ever lock something like that?
There is one last thing, but I can't be sure if this is an isolated AU version issue or one that is across the board, but when I plug in my headphones, it doesn't take me to that wonderful Music specific screen like the Note 2 did. Is this something that has just been omitted from this phone or is it entirely an AU specific thing?
My question then becomes, is there anything I can do about this?
I've noticed a JB 4.3 Firmware kicking about and I would gladly void my warranty to get back these features. But I don't want to void my warranty and still not have these features, if you know what I mean.
I'd really appreciate any advice on this, as I said, I've been a long time reader of this forum, any time I've googled anything about my phone, this is the place I end up, so I know you're a knowledgeable bunch, help me out
Thanks in advance, I'll be watching this space.
Mine doesn't even have the lock screen apps but I have a favorite apps widget on the lock screen.
Plus I don't have the flare in lock screen like I saw in a video review.
I have the Germany Snapdragon version

I hate the locked dock as well .... also, the Australian version of touchwiz does not work in landscape mode. eg: if you use Ultimate Rotation Control to force the home screen to rotate, the touchwiz icons wont align properly in landscape.
I have complained on their Samsung Australia facebook, but none of the rep has replied.

I think it is the decision of the samsung Australia to lock the dock and not allow us to change it.
maybe we need to form a petition on change.org

If you don't care about voiding your warranty then it's easy fixed. It just involves deleting a couple of lines in others.xml which you can do with root explorer or a similar root file manager. I have and more all good

Aus Note 3
Regarding the Aussie Note 3 dock etc, I believe this is due to the ongoing legal crap between Sammy & Apple.
Use a custom launcher or flash other firmware?
Hi all. I am from Romania, Europe, and bought on 25th september a Note 3 from Korea. Is a N900K model, unlocked, so is working with my SIM from Vodafone RO. I had a Note 2 before and I was very happy with it. But now... I don't know... There are some problems and one is the lock screen shortcuts that I can't change. There is a "slide to right" menu were you can put the shortcuts, but not directly on the lock screen. Why?
thanks, it works without any security ... but in the my note 1 t can still have shortcut with some security

Galaxy Note 3 missing shortcut icons
Last week, I bought Samsung Galaxy Note 3. All features and configurations are very nice. But one thing is that I saw in Youtube video clips, for the other person's Note 3 have the shortcuts like S Voice, Action note and Touchwiz home but not for my one. Though I tried to create these icons, I can't do it. I know these apps are in there. It takes more than 4 days for me. No success. Can you help me. I can't find the clues anywhere.

Thanks for this 'teaser', but you didn't say which 'one-or-two-files' these are..?
I just flashed the latest UK update for my N9005, and now have the same problem.
Kindly assist.

in /system/csc the two files I checked were feature.xml & others.xml.
I think others.xml may not be important, I edited the option in there and still had no access to the Hotseat. Buit feature.xml worked.
The setting to change is
<CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>true</CscFeature_Launcher_ReplaceHotseatAreaInEditMode>
set it to false.
reboot, and you now can edit the hotseat / bottom row. thank christ for that.
So while teaserguy was only half helpful, a little bit of tinkering did help.
also, just incase anyone is unaware, yes.. you need to root your device to access these files.

[Q] Svoice voice Wake up?

I've been trying to figure this out since I got the phone, I need some help. How do you wake up the phone while the screen is off using voice?
I turned "voice wake up" on in the svoice settings but it doesn't work. Some people say this was never a feature but apps like "S for switch voice" claim it's a working feature.
It would be awesome if anyone can help,
Thanks

I just chatted with Samsung live chat thing. They said it is a feature
"Alastair: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Hi, can you explain to me how to get my Galaxy S5 to wake up while the screen is off using S voice?
Alastair: I understand that you require information how to wake up the device using S Voice. Is that correct?
Visitor: yes
Alastair: Thank you for confirming.
Alastair: May I know the model number of the device? You may find it in Applications>Settings>General>About Device. You can also find the model number beneath the Phone's battery. Generally model number starts with SGH,SPH,SCH,GT or SM.
Visitor: SM-g900v
Alastair: Thank you for the model number.
Alastair: I would like to inform you that you need to say "Hello Galaxy" to wake up the device.
Visitor: can i do this while the screen is off?
Alastair: Yes, the device will wake up when the screen is off."
After a long chat, and factory resetting, they recommended me to return it to Verizon. Still cant get it to work
Guess I will wait and see if this problem is addressed by Samsung, or if the Samsung live chat person has no idea what they are talking about.
I can't get S Voice to wake up at all - Ok Google works fine for Google Now but the default wake up command and my custom wake up command are doing nothing to wake up S Voice.
I'm glad I see no point to S Voice considering the robustness of Google Now.
I'm having same issue, s voice won't wake phone no matter what. I figured eh whatever cause google now is awesome:thumbup:

I don't mean to bump this thread but I figured it out if anyone is interested.
Turn on Car mode then exit out (make sure you still have the steering wheel notification in the status bar). Now you can say "hi galaxy" whenever.
What makes this good is that you can download "S for switch voice" app on the play store. That opens Google Now instead of Svoice. Works just like a Moto X now

I guess so. Looks like it's the best we are gonna get
I thought would ask on this thread to keep the spam down.
Can this svoice wakeup thing be achieved now that we have root? I mean the function is already there with car mode, but maybe someone could strip down the car mode to have it only wake up with voice, and not mess with Bluetooth or restrict minimum volume.
I know this requires more work then I can imagine and is probably pretty low on anyone's priority list, but if anyone could tell me how to do it or link me to a fix, that would be awesome.
Thanks
I think u should bump this question again to the main Q&A. I would also love to have this figured out, just not sure if any one is following this post any more.

Pattern and fingerprint unlock in the lockscreen?

Hi,
As we all might know, the s5 fingerprint scanner doesn't always get it right. There is a option on the screen to input a password, but i would prefer to have a pattern instead of a password.
So my question is: is there a way (like a mod), to make the pattern unlock available with the fingerprint scanner and have it visible(meaning, without having to press the option to input pattern)? So basicly we would have to authentication methods and choose the one that is more covinent, but basicly its when the scanner fails 2 or 3 times i would just like to use the pattern right away to unlock
I haven't seen anyone metion, or even making a request for a mod like this, but maybe there is one out there that i don't know about or a way to do it, or maybe more people will show interest in it.
I would look into it or try if i knew anything about code/programming =/
Thank you in advance!
bump to the extreme
That'd be a good mod. 2 options on screen. Sometimes it's a pain juggling the handset to get the print.

Thats what i was thinking. I have had a few problems getting the print to work sometimes and then have to wait 30sec :/ it can work fine(better than i expectes actually) but if not in proper angule or speed it can fail.
I havent seen anyone mention something like this before, but im glad to see that there is interest

Let's talk about fingerprint

Helou,
So, as we all know, new S6 has a very good fingerprint sensor (no more swipe to unlock with fingerprint.)
Now I would like to know what else can I do with that. I know I can pay with fingerprint online, and log in.
But i have one idea. What if there is somehow a way to make this happens:
When I unlock my phone with my fingerprint, he "knows" that I am using him, and he lets me everything to use, but if I unlock him with regular swipe over the screen without code or anythin, he would lock some apps, so you can't use them without password. For example, if it was unlocked by swiping over the screes, he would lock Whatsapp, Facebook, Gallery, so that one who is using my phone, can't access to those things.
Is there anything like that maybe, or posieble to make ?
Wow that's a really good idea i'd like to see it

I think that there is a lot of guys od xda, who can make this possible
Great idea! Can call it...idenity!
Good idea but unfortunately samsung made only fingerprint, for example on iphone you can use passcode and fingerprint together.
I don't know if it's poasible with s6 but I'd love to be able to tap on the home button to perform a different action than click like in ios. For example with a double tap the app gets automatically in window mode to the bottom to be easy to use with one hand

Pop-ups after unlocking phone

This issue is a little hard to explain so bear with me. Sometimes when I unlock my u ultra it does the Animation of opening/switching an app. It does only do the Animation though, so there's no new app being opened. My question now is, do you guys think that there's an app running in the background which is being opened for a split second when I unlock my phone? I'm really curious so if anyone has an idea I'll be happy to read it.

I don't think so. You have to go into "Settings", then in "Apps", then go in the right corner of the top where there are 4 options. Then "Show system". Then find and desable "Ok Google Enrollment"

Ah okay, I found it
Thank you
Wow thank you Guys!
Had this problem since a couple of weeks and I almost wanted to delete every app I had installed in order to fix this anoying pop up. But battery saving mode also temporary fixed it for me, too.
Thank you very much!
Had this issue since day one and couldn't found the cause.
For me it was even weirder while using Opera Beta, everytime the animation occurred, when I opened the tab view, there was a screenshot from the site I was on and I couldn't see the tabs. Only way to solve this was exiting to homescreen and reopen Opera.
It was really annoying.
