if the rom is based on percys cm7 there is no other kernel you can use or you will get other problems like wifi/bluetooth not working

Flash another kernel until franco updates his kernel..he might update it very soon
Flash nr 4 instead and wait till nr 6 comes and hope it fixes the issue
or you can flash this in cwm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1673072

Uh buddy...if I'm not mistaken...you're not supposed to flash custom kernels via ODIN.....
Your custom binary count might have just gone up....(i.e., bye bye warranty).

If i'm not mistaken (correct me if i'm wrong), Franco's kernel is based on the CM9 kernel which has some WiFi issues. I have the same problem as you and i'm using the latest CM9 kernel on ParanoidAndroid.

I just flashed the speedmod kernel and everything is fine. The reason i was using franco kernel was because of the overclocking but i think i m gonna do just fine with the 1.4gh.

Hi all.
For those with wifi problems under some franco kernel, what do you have under
Settings -> Wi-fi -> Advanced (menu button) -> Keep Wi-fi active??
I used to give never under this option. This morning I have changed it to always and for now my wifi problems went away under franco kernel r3 and KingDroid 2.0 + s3.
Sorry if options don't check accurately. My NOTE wears spanish language.
Regards.

I flashed franco kernel r6 and the wifi issue is still alive and the precise issue is the device after installing the kernel fails to obtain IP address , Contacted the developer with this issue and he said its a strange and rare problem to which he doesn't have an answer and I have been working on this from last couple of days, day in day out , there seems to be no solution I could invent nor i could find on this site or any where else. I tried to replace my franco kernel with Abyss kernel and after my phone doesn't boot at all . I am struck .

His kernel is not even remotely similar in architecture to the CM9 kernel.
My guess is that it's because he changed the default power management mode during suspend from PM_FAST to PM_MAX - PM_MAX may seem like a great thing, but it tends to make the Broadcom chip wig out and do stuff that often winds up consuming MORE power, not less, in addition to causing all sorts of weird connectivity issues.
Edit: Never mind... In this regard his kernel is behaving just like standard kernels. His wifi_pm tweak does nothing in the current code (it's #ifndefed out by CUSTOMER_HW_SAMSUNG)
I had the same problem which does have a work around. If you manually set up the connection it should work. Use the default values except the gateway IP which was the problem for me. The gateway default needed specifying. But with random reboot on all Franco versions I just went to speed mod. Works flawlessly.
No idea why some people have problems and others don't but for me R5 is the best I have tested. Only one to deliver consistent top notch performance.

[Q] MIUIv3 Wifi Bug with Merruk's Kernel

Hello XDA,
This is my first post in the XDA community.
So, i installed Merruk's 2.5 #206 kernel and then MIUIv3. Everything seemed to be fine, until i found 2 important bugs:
1) Wifi wasn't working (It made the whole system stuck and i had to plug out the battery)
2) I attempted to change frequencies and governor, but it didn't change.
I know that CM7 is not 100% stable, but does anyone know a way to fix this?
All answers appreciated as long as they are relevant to the topic : )
Miui has used percys cm7 as a base - Therefore you need to use percys kernel for such things as wifi and bt to function correctly
It does state in the Miui thread under instructions you need to use percys kernel
First of all...CM7 is completly fixd..and second u have to use percy's kernal to make ur wifi,bt and flickering work fully!
If u r facing only wifi bug and u want to stick to the same kernal(merruk 206) use the wifi modules provided by whitexp....
Regards

I have tried with whitexp's wifi modules, but still get the same wifi bug (phone stuck and needs to unplug the battery and do data/cache wipe).. I have seen a post about changing permissions on System/etc/wifi and on wpa_supplicant.conf. Another possible solution i found on the forums is enabling wifi via terminal. Do you know if this could be possible with Merruk's kernel and if so, how?

Rebuild the kernel using percys source code for wifi on his github
or use percys kernel like you have been told!
There is no benefit of another kernel and don't say overclock - it's still debatable if it really is a true overclock or just a false positive - ie it just reports it is but isn't

I would, if i had the knowledge. So, you're claiming that Merruk's kernel overclock is a placebo effect? If so, Percy's kernel will have the same performance capabilities as Merruk, even with CPU intense apps (such as games, video etc.)?

I may correct u........merruk has the best performance, smooth gameplay, faster performance and many more........don't disguise newbies!
totaly right and its not for noobs i think, because this kernel is very advanced.

[Q] how do run latest cm 10.2 nightly with latest franco kernel nightly

youre mistaken, its not franco kernel that messes up your screen color, its your cm10.2 nightly.
cm xhanged its sourse from aosp to qualcomm, so running any asop kernel in cm will give you that effect. only cm based custom kernels will be fine. theres a temporary flashable fix for this floating around, if it still works that is.

Yes lately cm is causing some color problems.
Here is the colorfix zip file flash this in recovery and also use a JSS kernel AFAIK cm needs a JSS kernel'
COLORFIX zip : DOWNLOAD
Press thanks if I helped you.
how about CM11.. is there any colorfix available yet?
i flashed CM10 colorfix for the 4.4.X based CM11 variant but seems it'll restart the session after the boot animation

[Q] install AK kernel with slimkat rom

I am now using slimkat beta 1.95 with stock kernel of the rom and I want to flash the ak kernel v.305 on my phone.
Can I flash it directly?
BTW, how does this kernel do in battery life and what app can I use to adjust the performance?
Thanks...

And I am using the trickster Mod ,I fond a problem that I can't lock the min frequency to 162HZ or even 384hz, it will jump back to 912Hz automatically. Howver, the system monitor app shows that my cpu was working on 384-1512Hz.
Do you know how to solve this pro?
BTW, I have used ak kernel for almost 1 day and I think ak kernel makes the battery drain faster than the slim stock kernel....kind of upset:crying:

not sure about purekat. I tried hells fusion on reincarnation (cm7). .device boots... but wifi & bluetooth won't work ... guess it's same for purekat
hells fusion #50 can boot cm7/aosp but it does not have the correct moduals for wifi/bluetooth for use on cm7/aosp therefore if you want a fully operational phone you need to use a kernel built for cm7/aosp like percys or black reactor
better to use cm kernel !!
Boot loop
NOPE ..... You can try Percy kernal but Hells fusion will Cause Boot loop

hells fusion will not cause a boot loop - hells fusion can boot cm and aosp based roms but does not contain the moduals needed for wifi and bluetooth to work (it contains moduals for use on stock based only) hense why you need a cm/aosp kernel for full phone functions
I prefer u use BlackReactor . i have use it once .
[iPhone 6] or [Samsung Galaxy S5]
>>SG Y - Hyperion 8 Rom<<
>>SG S3 mini - Official Stock Rom<<
I think wifi and bluetooth dont work because oF drivers
Anyway tell me the correct procedure for flashing blackreactor kernel along with links
And yes if I just want to feel the rom not using wifi and bluetooth then can I flash rom on hells kernel

like iv explained many times in this thread you cannot use hells fusion as it does not contain the wifi and bluetooth modual for use on cm7/aosp - that kernel is for stock roms only
hells fusion will boot it but you may find things start force closing on you and not work properly with not all phone functions working
you MUST use percys kernel or black reactor kernel if you are using cm7/aosp to get full phone functions - network wifi bluetooth etc
all kernels are in the dev section - a simple search and you will find it - in fact black reactor kernel is currently on page one of the dev thread so not really much searching required
and you just flash it in cwm with system mounted then reboot to recovery and format system data cache then mount system data cache then flash your rom zip
Go for Black Heart

why are you using v5 of the kernel for cm/aosp rom?
please read the thread fully!!
v5 is for stock rom (doesnt work on all basebands so use v4)
cm is for cm roms and aosp
if you are using cm7 or an aosp rom you MUST use a cm kernel!!!

I will say it one last time
if you are using cm7/aosp you MUST use a kernel built for cm7/aosp
that means you cannot use a kernel built for stock (they use different mount systems hense non booting)
To make it clearer - no you cannot use v5 or v4 of black reactor kernel on cm/aosp as they are stock kernels
You MUST use the cm version of black reactor!

Lull, thats frustrating enough...
however,
Read the op carefully guys,
ops are written very carefully.
so,
CM version == ONLY AND ONLY CM/AOSP roms.
v5 and v4 == Only for stock based roms... (However, they can booth both aosp and cm7, but ur wifi or bluetooth wont work,) pick ur poison
AH..FINALLY
Ok
i got my answer
mods please close this thread
