No harm in trying.

I had hoped someone already has.

Anybody try yet? Specifically, I'd like to use a vzw note 3 simm in my maxx hd. I like switching back and forth without calling vzw every time.

Yep, you can just swap your Verizon sim card between phones.
If I remember correctly activation via calling Verizon isn't necessary.

I've heard that however when I called vzw about it the rep said you have to call. That said, ime the reps only know the scripts they're given so I trust people who have actually tried. I don't want to risk my unlimited data plan.

I also have unlimited data and when I switched sim cards my plan didn't change.
And yes, the reps are following a script. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine.
Also I ordered a special sim card from Verizon which allows me to make secure nfc payments and I was able to activate it via the phone just fine with no change to my data plan.

You can just ask this question in an existing thread, you don't need to start a whole new thread. Yes, it has a Verizon and Vodophone branded sim.

Unlock NVM Folder on 9k Port

I can not get the nvm folder unlocked on the 9k port. I do need it unlocked to be able to write the data settings and have them stick, correct? Also to change the MEID? I have CDMA WS 2.7, QPST 366, DFS 4.0.0.4. Can anyone help?
I am trying to flash this phone to cricket-
I do have 1x data with a AT&T sim installed. Text and calls work.
I also have 1x data with no sim card installed, but I can't make calls.
Yes I am trying to unlock and edit the 9k port with the vzw sim in the phone.
Edit: 'open sesame door' DOES NOT WORK
The radio itself ia the problem. It doesnt work at the frequencies that at&t operates on. Yes it does have a sim but it isnt the same as a sim that is in an at&t phone.

CDMA doesn't use sim card. Sim card is gsm by default. The one on the tbolt is not a "sim" as we know it. Im pretty sure it I for 4g LTE only. Everything else should work, yes 3g cdma, without it present. I think it is a UIM card. I have heard Verizon is using it for CDMA authentication as well, but I am not sure on that one. CDMA does not need a "sim" card, but a carrier could choose to use a UIM or any hardware key if they desired. If you aren't on Verizon's network, it should be 100%. If you are(even through a third party carrier that uses Verizon for their cdma service) you will need a new card. Once they are issued, they get tied to the account and phone number and cannot be changed for security reasons.

So you are saying the data fields on the 9k port are irrelevant to my data issue. All the NV items on 9k port still have Verizon information, so the UM and AN User ID and so forth are all the old Verizon information. I can NOT write to these fields, from what I understand this might be the reason I am not getting 3G.
So if those settings are not needed, is it my Radio? Like I said all my calls, texts, MMS even all WORK. My only issue is 1x Data, I can't seem to get 3g.
ALSO WHEN THE VERIZON UIM/SIM CARD (WHICH EVER IT IS) IS IN THE PHONE, I HAVE NO DATA AT ALL, I ONLY GET DATA WHEN I USE A SIM CARD FROM ANOTHER PROVIDER.
THE DATA WORKS WITH NO UIM/SIM IN THE PHONE, BUT WHEN THERE IS NO UIM/SIM I CAN NOT MAKE CALLS.
Have you seen this article? You are correct with your approach, this may help you.

Sim or Micro Sim?

I can't find a clear answer on this, does the nexus 4 use both a standard sim card, a micro sim card, or does it support both?
Thanks in advance

Nexus 4 is micro SIM.
Thank you. Does every carrier have micro sim cards? Currently I only have a regular sim card and am not sure if Fido has micro sims.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
I think they all do, yeah. Just give them a call and they'll be able to let you know
I currently have an LG Optimus one with a normal size sim. When I get the Nexus 4 I plan on cutting the sim to micro sim dimensions then sticking it in my new device. Will it work instantly with my existing plan from my Optimus one?

The phone has a micro-sim and if you cant get hold of a micro then the only decision is to cut it yourself. The sim still works equally well!

I had an iPhone 4 so I had to cut my Sim card but when I moved to HTC Inspire 4G then I still had the extra pieces so i fitted them in the device. Now when I will get Nexus 4, I can simply use the Micro Sim and keep those pieces to a safe place

I'm on T-Mobile UK and when I asked they said it would cost me £10. I tried to cut my own, but the chip is huge! What I did was ring them up and they were able to credit me the money to my next bill. Give that a try...I'm not saying it will work, but its worth a try.

Switching between Nexus and iP5

Hi guys,
I have both a Nexus 4 and iP5. I would like to switch between the 2 (iPhone for work and android for home use). I purchased the noosy adapters but have read some horror stories about them.
Does anyone here do what I am looking to do? If so, how do you manage it?
Thanks
SIM adapters work fine, nothing to worry about
I use a cheap Nano to Micro SIM adapter in my Nexus 4 because I had an iPhone 5 for 2 days before I saw my arse with it and returned it for a full refund.
Phil
I have the noosy and it works just fine between my iphone 5, Note 2 and Optimus G. I think the build quality is pretty good actually.
Any trick to it? Also, anything special you do to apn settings because of iPhone lte data plan?

Not familiar with Metropcs so sorry if this is kinda generic.
1. Not unless your carrier is really weird... Or if you are on a contract and don't have a smartphone plan
2. Couple seconds. Once you're in recovery and all, the zip to flash is really simple.
3. This depends on if your carrier is GSM or CDMA and what frequency bands it uses. GSM is fairly simple... CDMA can (?) be done, but it's significantly more complicated.
From everything I can see, you're almost guaranteed to get 1xRTT (2g data) and voice. 3g and MMS are iffy, and require changes to APN settings, and LTE or HSPA+ depend on the frequency band, if you're on GSM. On CDMA, I have no idea.
4. As with any flashing, there's the off chance something bad could happen. Not likely, especially if you follow the directions. But, it could happen.
If you give me info on the carrier, I can give more specific instructions
Final note: please Don't Capitalize Every Word Because It Makes People Annoyed And Is Weird To Read.

i thought metro pcs was gsm, if they are all you would have to do is unlock it using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166542 and then would just need to get a metro sim card, they look to be about 20 on ebay
