[REQ] Screen off NFC - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would love to see NFC work with the screen off. Anyone out there who can make this work?

Aokp had options to change polling. I would be afraid you're battery would take a major hit polling all the time.

Had it on the s4 with a TW rom with no discernable effect on battery.

I would be fine with sacrificing some battery on this...

NFC LockScreenOff Enabler is supposed to do just that. Can't test it though because I have no NFC tags.

It does not work on my LG G2 D802 on kitkat. did not work on stock, and now neither on Pardus HD Rom classic 7.6

@kuwlij i guess that mod is only for roms like cm11. I think to achieve nfc to work like that we have to edit the nfc application to enable it when screen is off and also for lockscreen.

Surely if this is all that is needed someone's come up with a mod? in "NFC application" i'm understanding that you are referring to the middlewere that interprets the NFC device/driver output and makes such instruction available to apps (such as tasker, NFC tools, etc).
I'm making this assumption because even with NFC enabled (statusbar icon), when keyguard is enabled, apps such as NFC tools do not detect a tag even with the NFC enabled. something in the middle is deciding to ignore what is coming from the NFC sensor because the phone has keyguard enabled.

Anyone else bothered by NO quick auto-rotate switch?

On my Nexus 7, the quick settings drag-down menu has auto-rotate lock, but my Nexus 4 does not. Both are running Android 4.2.1.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that there is no quick way to lock and unlock your screen orientation?
Or if there is, please let me know!
You can use an app for that, if it isn't a problem - Power Toggles. It has a slightly different behaviour - as far as I know, the native auto-rotate toggle locks the display in its current orientation, whereas Power Toggles only seems to be able to set it to portrait and leave it that way.
That's the quick'n'easy way, otherwise, there may be a mod for the same purpose.

yes the double slide shows the quick settings for wifi, gps, etc.. on nexus 4 there is NO auto-rotate whereas on nexus 7 there is.
Just got my N4 a few weeks ago and this lack of foresight bugs the hell out of me. Is is plausible to extract the auto-rotate quick setting toggle from the N7 factory image and build that into a custom, modified stock, 4.2.2 ROM?
If you're saying to yourself "seems like a lot of work for something with such little use," spare us all the comment. Little details are the most important IMHO.
Use an app named power toggles

If you're willing to, just flash a custom ROM such as PA which has it built in. Being a Nexus, most ROMs are very close to stock in most ways.

Notification Quick Settings Customization: mobile data toggle

There are total of 20 buttons. One I think it's really missing is the mobile data toggle. Is it possible to make it show up?
If this is possible, would it be possible to have an app installed to do that and turn off the Samsung built-in one?
Thanks

I don't believe you can. Unfortunately, AT&T made them pretty well remove it (I believe on the T-Mobile 4.3 you can tweak a system file and get it back, but i tried and it doesn't work on I337) and the default ones aren't an option.

Smart cover with AOSP ROM

Just wondering if anyone has been able to come up with any solution to get a smart cover or the auto sleep/wake function to work on an AOSP ROM, I just purchased the IVSO cover and been stuck on a stock ROM to be able to utilize it. Thanks.

I don’t have any cover yet, so haven't been able to try it out. But you try this app on play store.

There are other apps on there for making it work. Stil waiting for CM to include it as an advanced option.

These apps rely on proximity sensors (which this tab doesn't have) or light sensors which are extremely inaccurate. So while they can sometimes work they usually don't. A simple change in the ambient light will turn your screen on or off. I think we just have to keep waiting and hoping that the cm11 (or w/e rom you use) crew manages to crack LG's code for using the magnetic sensor.
My GPE seems to work with the IVSO cover/case.

Extracting it from the GPE rom would probably be the best solution

Searching the stock rom for this app, if I find it I will try installing and/or flashing it to see what happens. Here goes nothing.
EDIT: App does not install when trying to execute the apk. And flashing it will put it in /system/app but it doesn't appear to do anything. Maybe I have no idea what I'm doing but here is a zip file containing the apk and odex file.

Interesting.. I reckon we're deeper down tho then this app. Simply put, the proximity sensor isn't picked up as set-up in the AOSP roms fro v500. We need the proximity sensor to be picked up as hardware in order for any app to do anything. The application I linked you, where it used light to shut off the tablet can also use proximity, but since it's not there on our pad, we're left in the cold for now.. This app may work better once the proximity sensor is in. But usually CM and AOKP and so forth always included this feature themselves without the need for flashing anything.. At least for the Nexus 2012 I had, and well, all other devices kindof turn off when you hold them close to your face, simply because the proximity sensor is recognizing it, to turn off.
With that said, I'm still downloading this file.

Google Edition

Hello everyone, I'm now using HTC One with Google Edition rom, and I ****ing love it. I'm switching to LG G2 but I really hate the ugly UI, is there any custom rom, or any way to convert it to Google Edition? Thank you.

The g2 has better hardware than the one, but aosp is not nearly as stable. I love my phone, but coming from a nexus, I sure miss stability.

In my country they sell only D802.. is that a problem?
Also, does anyone know what's the difference between the One's and the G2's speakers? I mean, I know the One's are way better, but as for the volume, which has the louder ones? And how louder are they?

D802 is supported too, no idea if the stability is any different but I wouldn't imagine it would be.
As for comparison against other phones for various stuff; no idea.

Knock on is okay but knock off can't be used on lockscreen and even in launcher you have to tap the status bar.(With nova launcher you can knock off by double tapping on home), but that still won't give you ability to knock off on lockscreen.

In Paranoid Android, you can use knock off on the lockscreen. It's been implemented since Beta 5, I think.

Flashlight toggle KitKat

Does anybody know if the flashable flashlight toggles for the s4 or tmobile note 3 will work with our phones? Or is there a flashable pull down toggle for a flashlight that works with kitkat leak on our phones?

I just flashed the Sprint zips and they add the toggle but it does not turn on the LED. If you're using a custom ROM with it's own settings in the settings menu it will remove them.
