Getting an atrix to play with and have a couple questions.
is there an Miui?
How many custom roms are there?
What are people looking for in custom roms?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
1) MIUI in progress, look in the dev forum, should be a thread there
2) there are a lot of custom roms based on the stock GB firmware and the CM7 firmware(all with various tweaks). I really don't know how much though.. 10? refer to #1.
3) personally I need something lean and fast... I could care less about fingerprint and webtop.
If I got the the right rdannar, he is a talented dev from the x10 forum a while back. I hope you consider producing a Rom or two. What we need is if possible a very light blur Rom built for speed and fully functional. Or you can team up with the miui or cm team for webtop ideas. Glad your considering helping us with the ATRIX. Welcome.

Ninja, Darkside, Aura, CM7 (All the roms based on CM7 as well) are either de-blurred or have 2 different versions, one with blur or very minimal blur. What exactly are you looking for?
1. MIUI is currently in Alpha 2, no details on the Beta release yet, but here's the thread.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383721
2. Quite a few ROM's for the Atrix.
-Darkside ROM (Nottach)
-Alien ROM (Kenneth from Briefmobile, not being updated)
-Aura (Diviance, not being updated anymore I believe)
-CM7 (Atrix Dev Team, working on CM9 now)
-Ninja (Sam Cripp)
-GingerMod (Evogp)
-RedPill and RedPill CM7 Hybrid (Dorian from Atrix Forums Website)
There's more but that's some of them, most of them rather that I know are still on the 1-2 page.
3. Mainly, when I look to flash a ROM, I would like it to be stable, smooth, fast, minimal blur or none at all.

I was okay on x10. I am more of a cook or porter with some Dev skills. I puta lot of roms out for x10. the good old days. then did some ROM for the Motorola bravo, lg thrill, galaxy s2, and soon this I hope.
I know people ask this all time, but was asking for other reasons then noobs do. Thanks for the info everyone. I could search but liked the feedback of users.

lean and fast i mean real lean and fast is
neutreno rom by notorious544
fastest benchmarks of any rom; cm7 based or blur for atrix yet i was 14 pionts shy of 7000 on antutu
bench with fauxs old 1.4.5 kernal
with no undervolt and.maxed.min and max
I use neutrino (hopefully I spelled that correctly). Also welcome to the Atrix side glad to have you. There is a KANG CM9 in progress but the OP on that thread doesn't seem to have much more to say.
The Atrix Dev Team are great guys I think they would be happy if you could help them.

Hope you like the atrix! Coming from the x10 I sure do!
I can tell you what i'm looking for in custom roms though. ICS! We have a port but it's really an alpha, much like the x10 one.
See? ... Another proof that the Atrix 4G is still very alive and kicking!!!
(in reference to another post where pessimistic AT&T employees are saying that the Atrix 4G has reached it's end of life.)
Welcome to the Atrix rdannar
Thanks for all feedback.. I should have it today. The first thing I usually do is deblur and slim down a rom to get used to its files... Then theme and framework.. Then who knows? I have a Gs2 that I do roms (waiting for ics and new computer to do more) for so this will be a toy...

We have the kernel source and aosp source for ICS (not JB)(obviously) so why hasn't anyone made an aosp Rom? It seems even other devices get AOSP roms a lot faster. Is there a problem with porting AOSP to the S3 phones in general (US VERSIONS) or does no dev really care for AOSP and is happy with TouchWiz? I don't know, and I'm just curious. Just to be clear, I'm not asking any devs to get on it or work on it or rush it, just pure curiosity. Thanks. Hoping some devs could reply to clear some things up.

If you have been reading. The devs are having to unravel a disgusting amount of code because the touch wiz is integrated with everything. We are running a %0 true android experience. It's going to take time. With all due respect if you can't wait do it yourself. Good luck.

Give it time, the phone's barely out
Exactly. As much as I don't want to wait any linger and take my g nex back from my wife I think I'll stick it out. This phone is pretty damn sweet
Give it some time. As stated before the phone is barely even released.

Yeah I get that it's running touchwiz which is like you said basically a 0% true android experience but wouldn't you just be able to delete the touchwiz all together and flash a new Rom. I'm not exactly sure what the problems are that are stopping devs from just installing a Rom onto it after removing touchwiz. I can wait I was just asking out of curiosity lol.

You can't do that without achieving AOSP. ICS AOSP is helpful, but everyone wants JB.
The JB AOSP source code isn't out and when it is, the closed-source RIL is the biggest obstacle to making it work.

You can't have AOSP ROMS without the AndroidOpenSource for 4.1, which isn't out for 2 more weeks. And for 4.0, the devs still need time.
someone else mentioned that a lot of the devs might have held out for the 32gb models which were hard to come by opening week. the 16gb versions came out first. anyway, there are a lot of great devs on board, and not just historically samsung devs. htc devs like myn will be pumping out roms soon enough.
i won't lie though... some jellybean love would be beautiful.

Yeah, I hope by the time the SGS4 rolls around in a year that 32GB will be the new low-end, with 64GB the step up. I really hope we don't stagnate here -- or worse: go backwards -- just because of this cloud crap.
My guess would be that most of the devs have the international version. They have had AOSP roms for weeks. Not to mention cm9, aokp, and about to get miui4
My guess would be that the phone is just getting released in the US and maybe the devs are waiting for 4.1 source so we can have a Jelly Bean AOSP rom instead of spending so much time to create an ICS AOSP. That doesn't make much sense to me, why waste time on ICS when JB is coming out in couple of weeks.
Can't most efforts on ICS apply to JB, or do things like project butter really change up the porting?
I imagine Google Play on stock/root or CM9 would be a lower-hanging fruit.

Try and just take it explorer on Windows and see how far you get. It's not as simple as just deleting touchwiz.

Quick question. How long do you think we'll be waiting for root and custom ROMs? I would think it would take longer than usual. I mean brand new hardware AND brand new JB 4.2...
I seriously wish I had the time to figure this stuff out on my own but I have to rely on brilliant devs on xda...
Thanka you

Well, JBQ said that the Nexus 4 isn't supported in AOSP, so for a while there will be few custom ROMs. Maybe some minor stuff, but definitely nothing built from source (CM, AOKP, PA) until when (or if ever) they decide to include the device tree in AOSP.
There will be custom kernels, though, as that source is released.

So lots of talk about restrictions due to the N4 not being AOSP, how hard do you think it will be to port ROMs at least until you are able to build from source? And since the kernel code is already released, new kernels should be a sinch, right?

Couldnt we use roms from that new optimus since it has the same internals as this device?

cant we port the cm10 rom from the galaxy nexus for the time being? or will that screw stuff up with the n4? sucks theres no AOSP support...yet
So there was briefly a thread about a working CM11 build for vzw, which got closed because the moderator said it was created by a banned user (rhcp). I don't know any of the details about this guy and why he got banned...is it safe to use roms he builds?

Its not unheard of for devs to get banned for multiple reasons, i.e. refusing to post kernel sources repeatedly. You will be fine to use it, I highly doubt its cause of maliciousness.
Its safe and stable. It was not his work that got him banned. Flash away.
Support your Devs......
Here's the thread for that build over on Droid Forums: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/lg-g2/258385-rom-wip-cyanogenmod-11-g2-vzw.html
Which ROM overall do you prefer? CyanogenMod or Paranoid Android? I'm currently running cm-10.2-20131129-NIGHTLY-d800.zip on my LG G2 which is 4.3 but Paranoid has pa_g2-4.0-ALPHA-20131123B-d800.zip AOSPA 4.0+ PARANOID ANDROID Kitkat 4.4 KRT16S android-4.4_r1.2 out now. Which of the 2 ROM teams have been better in the long run for people?

I am also looking forward to hearing about this. As far as I know CM still does not have a stable rom for LG, they are all nightlies or release candidates for G2.

To be honest they both have their pluses and minuses, I would try both and decide which you prefer. Each person will like or dislike a Rom for their own reasons, so why not just find out which you prefer by using both, instead of someone else telling you which to use. At worse, it is a couple hours of your time on each before you should be able to figure which works best for you.

While I agree that it us a personal choice in most cases, in this case OP is also looking for feedback on technical information and facts such as bugs, working vs not working features, and overall operability of that specific rom.
One might be best for someone in terms of a specific feature but if it has battery drain problem or if camera is upside down, for example, it won't mean much, and we shouldn't expect him to waste his time finding out about these things just so he can make his own decision.
*typos fixed

That is the continued issue with both, they both have issues as mentioned. Neither has released a Stable version as of yet. I would suggest reading both forums on each Rom and they are detailed on the bugs and some methods of resolving them and pick one you can deal with on a daily basis till they are worked out.
The verizon g2 has an unofficial cm11 build which has everything working. I ran it for a few days and didn't encounter any bad issues. Some people reported random reboots but where very minimal and I didn't get any. Google wallet worked fine. I haven't tried PA because I haven't seen one for Verizon's g2 so I can't comment on that.

I'll wait for CM11 if Paranoid just makes and leave they're ROM's buggy
Both devs work hard to squash any bugs. Like said neither have a stable release yet. So bugs are present in both.
Personally I use stock with Xposed. Xposed gives you tons of tweaks and options normally found in custom roms. The stock rom has plenty of useful additions too.
If and when I flash, I'll be using AOKP.

Is there any stable rom at all for G2?
Sent from my LG-D800
I have tried both, but I don't really miss too many of the features from CM. (I used to run CM 10.2) One thing i can say for sure I love about ParanoidAndroid, is that they have removed the annoying noise cancellation, that has been there in any other rom i have tested. Now when i record video i do not get any annoying watery sounds. Brilliant! But if a modder makes a mod that will disable the noise cancelling microphone and it will be compatible with any rom, then I would probably lean more towards CM.
Try them both out!
P.A.C.-man ROM combines PA, AOKP and CM.
Any additional feedback a few months later?
