[Q] quickremote timer - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I wonder if anyone know if it somehow is possible to sent ir signals from quickremote or with any other app at a specific time?
For example i would like the phone to send "turn lights on" every morning. Is it possible?

Tasker and Nexus 7

Wondering if anyone has any input of this.
I already have a tasked profile for when I sign onto my home network to disable notifications on my phone, as I am using my tablet exclusive at home. Then they turn back on when I leave my WiFi range of my house. I am using Tablet Talk for SMS so I get those notifications on the tablet.
Now...
I want to setup Tasker on my tablet so that when I am not home my tablet does not make noise.
Any ideas on how you would do it?
Looking for brainstorming ideas...

I don't use Tasker on my Nexus 7 but use it on my phone. I think I understand what you're wanting, but not quite sure.
Couldn't you just set up a profile for Wifi Near and invert it? Then create a task to enable silent mode?

Set a variable that changes values when you are connected to WiFi and then a task with an if that only executes if the value is whatever when you are not connected.
Might not be the best way, but that's where I would start.
Correction on this a little after re reading my post. I want to get it so that when I am not home and leave my tablet there it does not make noise. I am not sure if there is a way for tasker to scan the network for a specific MAC address and if it sees it then disable notifications. Then I'd be able to sign onto my WiFi at home with my nexus phone when I get home and all notifications would go to the tablet.
Was also thinking NFC would be neat to trigger it all. Think this way. You come home and tsp your phone to tablet and the notification volume gets turned up on your tablet (ie. Gmail, SMS). Then when you leave you tap them together again and NFC turns notification volume up on your phone an down on your tablet.
Using NFC tasker I can only see writing to NFC tags for tasks not setting specific tasks based on the NFC communication between the two devices.

Two options come to mind. First would be pairing your phone and tablet over bluetooth and then creating a state where when they are not connected to each other, the tablet would be in silent mode. Second, how about just having the tablet go to silent mode when charging? You're not likely to be using your tablet while charging because the battery life can handle it, and you probably leave your tablet charging when you're not home.
It's not perfect but I'm not sure how else you'd do it without getting really fancy in Tasker stuff.

I saw this thread and had to share my idea. It sounds like what you need is a way to let your Nexus know when you are no longer home. The easiest way to do that, in my mind, is through SMS, especially since you already have SMS tied to your tablet, anyway. You could add a hook to the profile you already have that turns notifications on and off based on whether you are home to also send an SMS to your tablet with a code word that you would then use in a Tasker profile on the Nexus to trigger your silent mode. So something like.
Get Home:
Turn on your SMS forwarding, Send "I'm home" SMS to the Nexus by sending an SMS to yourself that gets forwarded, triggering your profile that you'd want for when you're, you know, home.
Leave home:
Send "Not home" SMS to the Nexus, putting everything into silent mode, then turn off SMS forwarding
It's probably also possible to set it up so tasker immediately dismisses the notifications and deletes the SMS for you, since it seems to me like Tasker can pretty much do anything. The only other option I could come up with would be something that constantly has the two devices pinging off each other, which sounds like a battery eating nightmare.
Side note for my own info, but I plan on picking up a 7 in the next few weeks and I assume based on this thread that Tasker functions well on it? I've currently got a rooted and jellybeaned Fire that Tasker won't really work on, at all.
autoremote is a tasker plugin. If for some reason you don't want to use sms as another poster suggested, you can link your n7 and phone and send messages through autoremote. Basically you'd have the opposite of your existing profile turning your phone notifications off, and when you phone isn't on your home network it will send an autoremote message to your n7 that you can use as a context to make whatever sound alterations (and other changes) you'd like.
autoremote is the easiest way I've found to communicate back and forth between tablet and phone. I use it to sync alarms between them, so I have a backup alarm without actually having to set it up.

diable 'knock on' d801 cm10.2 option?

got "Car mode" working on ATT S5! clue to Svoice wake while locked?

so as you may or may not know or care, "car mode" is not available in the notification pull down and apparently was replaced by "drive mode" or whatever the dumb app name from ATT is. I think the Tmobile/Verizon S5's may have Car Mode though.
who cares right?
well car mode is sort of related to SVoice in that nobody can seem to get the S5 to wakeup from a lock screen/display off using a voice trigger like the Moto X or other older Galaxy phones.
Anyways, I tried to use Tasker to run a "Car mode" task, and the first time I did it, a few days ago, it said "not available on this device"..oh well
But I tried it tonight and for some reason it worked!
Now the phone shows the car mode icon in the notification bar.
Maybe this is a clue of some kind that Svoice voice trigger while locked/display off is somehow achievable?
And a juicy further tidbit:
The blue LED blinks about every 6 seconds while the screen is off. I have tasker enabled and no new notifications in the menu bar.
Isnt the blue-LED blink supposed to be related to voice recording with the screen off?? Is this a clue that the Hexagon low power DSP is listening even though it doesnt work for some reason?
Ive tried to get the phone to wakeup while locked but I cant.

Could you post the steps to the task please?

since I wrote that I've uninstalled tasker for other reasons
the task I made was absolutely bare bones IIRC.
in fact there was no "event"..I got car mode running by making it the "action" or whatever and just running it stand-alone with the arrow

[Q] [Request] Strip down car mode

Hey
I was wondering if anyone could strip down car mode so that it only has the feature of voice wakeup. Right now it opens up that driving mode app and restricts you from turning your volume to silent.
I know this is probably a pretty difficult task, but if anyone has spare time and can do it. That would be really nice.
Thanks

[Q] Apps to control phone settings?

Greetings everyone! I have something very specific in mind that I'd like.. and I've tried looking around with no luck. Maybe someone here has some hands on experience and can point me in the right direction.
Is there an app that with one button-press change multiple settings on your phone simultaneously?
For example, when I get home, pushing one button and having it set to max volume, WiFi and Bluetooth on, GPS off.... getting to work, pushing one button and turning off GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and silencing EVERYTHING, turning off vibrate, etc.
Does anything like that exist?
This could be possible with Tasker.

Tasker sounds like the thing you need.
But you will have to set it up first.
But Tasker will probably require location service in order to determine where you are. So that it will make those switches automatically.
Haven't used it personally, but I heard things about it
