Strange question about the Note 3: why does ringtones only play for three seconds,
even if you have a .mp3 or other as ringtone.. if there's a way to play ringtones longer,
please let me know...
Thank you...

How come when I put a mp3 files in my ring tones folder it won't play. Does this need to be a wav file?
If so, i don't really want a 35MB file to play my ring tone.
Thanks
jw
I have a mp3 as ringtone, though I use PZP, but as far as I understood, PZP just changes the standard settings of WM, so it should be possible without PZP too... maybe try a different format of the mp3?
try putting them in your my documents folder. thats where i have mine. I actually made a my documents folder on my storage card, but it sometimes switches to the default tone when it rings from standby. i think its because it starts to ring before it powers up the card again.
Firstly, 35MB wav is like a 2 minutes sound. Do you actually need a 2 minute sound for your ring tone? How long does it takes for you to answer your phone?
Anyway, try compressing it to WMA. You definately can use WMA files for your ring tones. Get the encoder free from M$.
hi @jw,
i guess ur problem caused by third party music software which they assign their program for ur default music file.
how to check it...??? go to file explorer, and see the display icon / play the file for ur mp3 file which u want to assign 4 ur ringtone. does it in WMP's icon and also plays in WMP? if NO, go to ur third party music software and unassigned/uncheck mp3 files format as a default program to play those formats.
because as i know, the device plays mp3 format for ringtone using WMP's system.
i hope this can help u. Gut Luck!!!
Quick & Easy way
You can make MP3's as ringtones easily.
Use File Explorer to locate then file, then press & hold with the stylus (or finger) until you get the options menu.
Hey prestu - Use as Ringtone will be there. Well it is on my phone anyway...
Thanks for all the help guys!
hi, y can't i set ringtones for alarms or text msgs, thanks
I put a wav music file into the windows folder and it would come up in the alarm scroll down, however it will not play. I guess there is a time limit to alarm sounds ?
Any way to get any long sound to be used as your alarm? like at least 30 seconds worth?
I do not know your answer to the question, but I do have a suggestion.
While you're waiting for the answer, why dont you try cropping the song down in some editing software on the PC to just the part you want; thus reducing it in size. Copy that to the windows folder, then give it another shot.
yah i've cropped down to about 30 seconds... but it doesnt work.
I tried another file which was about 2 seconds and it worked, so is there any way you can get a longer music wav to play as an alarm clock ?

Click to collapse
any ideas??
Make the .wav file like 29 seconds. It should work.
if this subject has been discussed somewhere else, i am sorry. please just point me there
the basic ideea is that i can't use the tf3d music player to play anything.
with the 2 demo songs it starts (after very long time) play 3-5 seconds then stops
any other songs from the sd card is not found, just some mp3 ringtones (not all of them) but is the same problem - plays few sec and stops
what am i doying wrong? core, wm, gsp and all other music player works nice, but not this one.
please help because i found it appealing to use/
thank you!
please guys, no one with this problem?
i added my songs to my sdcard by sincronising with wmplayer and just copying them to my card
both methods failed. if i copy them the tf3d player doesn't sees them at all
if i syncronize them, some of them appear some not, but event those seen by tf3d player can't be played. it starts after an eternity, plays 2-3 secs and stops. it is very annoying nad i have no clue what am i doing wrong.
thanks a bunch!
iv had problems with the music player myself , im sure what the problem is with songs only playing 2-3 secs.
But as tf3d goes when i sync my phone to copy music i always use direct drive (the middle option)
if i sync with wmp player i may get like 2 songs not syncing with the rest of the album
to get albums to show in tf3d put the album you want into the artist folder then copy to Music on your memory stick e.g day & age>the killers>MUSIC
but if you do it this way day & age>MUSIC the albums will show in your libary in tf3d but it sometimes take 20 secs to refresh
Apologies if this has been asked but I've not found a thread so far for this problem.
I am using rom 1.61 and recently decided to add different ringtones to my most common contacts. The ringtones are just normal MP3 files, eg some are songs, some are stuff like TV theme tunes etc. They all play perfectly in any of the media players like coreplayer etc.
But when any person with a personalised ringtone calls me, I get no ringtone at all. The phone vibrates, and the speaker is on & volume turned up, but no sound plays.
Anyone know if this is a fault, or is there a setting I have missed or something?
Thanks
Jim
i had this problem with the same rom but i found that setting the ringtone through file explorer seemed to sort it out
Don't think that will help will it mate?
You can only set the current overall ringtone like that, and the problem I've got is that ringtones set that are different for various people do not play.
Actually, I just found something out, that when I've set these personalised ones for different people it has set itself as a default tone just to vibrate.
I've changed it to a proper ringtone now, but I'll have to get a friend to call me to see if this works now. I have a suspicion there's more to it than this......
Bump! Anyone?
My wife’s (and occasionally my) Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 makes a BONGING sound, like a GONG being struck slowly, rather than play the ringtone she has selected as her default ringtone. The sound is very soft, without much volume, so she misses a lot of calls. Does anyone know how to fix this? We are desperate.
I assume you already tried selecting a different ringtone. You can also try uploading an mp3 song to the Ringtones folder and select that one. Hope it helps.
