I have the 8gb nexus 4 running on the latest stock Rom, but it seems to disconnect every 30 seconds or so. Is there anyway to fix the wifi without rooting the phone? because i have seen a wifi fix thread before but that required rooting the phone. So is there anyway to get around this? i have tried on a few networks and they all seem to have the disconnecting problem; though some only seem to disconnect every minute or so rather than every 30 seconds.
Thanks in advance.
If you experience disconnects no matter what WiFi you are connected to, and no matter how close you are to the router/access point, you might just have a hardware problem that should be covered by warranty.
You might also try a factory reset

If you have a 2.4Ghz or 5GHz, then under Settings ->Advanced in wifi, select the country you are in and select the exact frequency, don't let the phone select "auto"

Ok, i have been having this problem for a few months now and i have finally got fed up with it.
Whenever i try to connect to one of the many wifi spots on my campus or the one at my home, or pretty much any wifi spot, a few minuets later it will just drop, for no reason (and sometimes the wi-fi itself will just turn off for no reason after an hour or so.). And then when i go to the wifi options and ask it to re-connect, it just sits there and does nothing, no matter how much i tap it will not do nothing unless i turn wifi on and off, and even then the chance of reconnecting is slim, and when it does re-connect it usually just drops again.
I tried using the Wifi fixer app but it does not seem to help, and the log file i had it create cannot be opened for some reason either or is corrupted.
What im wondering is why does it do this, what is causing it? Is there some kind of log file or console where i can see what exactly is going on when it tries to connect to wi-fi so i can pinpoint the problem? anyone else have this problem and found a fix?
My nexus 7 is the 16GB version Wi-fi only. It has never been rooted or hacked in any way.
Same problem here. I've done research and apparently it seems like a common problem? It's driving me nuts especially when I'm trying to watch Netflix. My Nexus 4 has no issues...
Well if there is a kernel or ROM out there that fixes this i am just going to go ahead and root, because i have a feeling that google wont release a fix until android key-lime pie, if that even makes it to the nexus 7
Hi
I'm currently having a problem with my S4 that is driving me mad.
Ever since I got the phone I've had a bit of a problem with the WiFi connection. I've flashed a few kernels and some seems to help the problem more than others but it's still there.
What happens is the phone connects to WiFi no problems. Then maybe after a few minutes of use the phone won't give me any data. If I search a Web page it just hangs and then says unable to display web page. I then have to knock the WiFi off and back and and it cures the problem temporarily.
Sometimes the WiFi connection can be fine and last a few hours without hanging. Other times it can last a few minutes. The WiFi icon always remains on the screen and the arrows act as if data is getting processed but nothing ever happens. The odd time it will also kick itself off the WiFi and reconnect.
It's driving me mad having to constantly knock it on and off. I'm missing WhatsApp messages for hours because of it also.
Is it a common problem? If not the phone
is still under warranty so I will have to send it back but then that's me phone less for god knows how long
Any help would be great.

if you are rooted, flash this http://www.adrive.com/public/8DJWtV/WifiFix.zip
its a fix that sorted out my wifi problems
I think you should revert back to the latest stock and reset your modem. There might be some fancy settings in your modem software that need to be turned off. I read that somewhere but can't remember which ones. Just search on here.:cyclops:
Hi guys, sorry I've just seen the replies and thank you for taking the time
I shall have a blast at both your solutions and report back.
Thank you again
Well I tried the WiFi fix but that hasn't cured my problem. Today I will flash to stock rom and then re-root and see if that makes a difference. If not its off for repair under warranty and the old Nokia 8210 will be coming out of retirement for a few days lol

May be a fix?
1) type *#0011#
2) press menu button and select wifi
3) turn off power saving mode
4) restart
Alternative
1) download terminal emulator
2) type ping google.com

Hi jehbrian.
I've never heard of this fix but I'm willing to give it a go (whats the worst that can happen lol).
Done the above and indeed you get to a point where Wifi power saving mode is on. I've knocked it off and will see how I get on in the next couple of days. It does make sense that the power saving mode could be killing the Wifi every now and again.
Thanks for the tip and have a pleasant day :fingers-crossed:
I had tried that one. It spends about 10% more battery.

Does it?
Surely there must be something else that can compensate for this loss if it means the Wifi actually works. GPS? Bluetooth? Screen brightness?
My phone is on my dock so can't verify the loss of battery.

I've never noticed the battery drain... besides, S4's battery life is bad anyway.
Any solutions ?

My wifi was working very well. One day suddenly it went off. Initially I thought it was a connection problem, but eventually I discovered that the wifi toggle switch refused to start. It was stuck.
I did not upgrade or change anything (Currently running stock android 4.3.) In a bid to correct it I even did a factory reset. But wifi issue remained.
Did everything mentioned in various YouTube videos. But in vain.
The only way I can turn it on is by switching off the phone, removing the battery 4 a minute and restart. Wifi worked but to 5 to 10 min only.
Removing battery every time 2 start wifi is nuisance.
Pl advice.

I would advice you to do the following
=>Disable all power saver settings
=>Remove any battery saving App
If it doesn't work try
=>Installing the newest Official Firmware from Samsung(4.4),Download it from the sam mobile site
If that doesn't work well then i cant help you anymore
Hope that helps and hit the thanks if i helped
Dear Sammy,
I did exactly the same. Installed the 4.4.2 but a new problem has emerged. Wifi shows connected. I can also see the white wifi icon on status bar. But in fact is not connected. Can't open anything. Not even router configuration ip address.
To make sure it was not a modem/ router issue, I checked d connection on another phone. It was working perfectly.
Here too I tried switching off for couple of minutes but on start it just shows connected when it is actually not. (Confirmed several times on other phone)
Plz help.

Decided to install N a few days ago and test it out, everything was going fine but after returning home from work today my wifi will not reconnect. I've added the info for my wifi back in several times, the phone says the network info is saved, but it never connects or even appears in the list. Don't really feel like wiping again right now, so did anyone else run into this and manage to fix it? Any ideas? I've already tried all the usual stuff, but no luck.

Apologies if this is a silly response but is N official? I thought it was a beta? I'm assuming if that's the case then you'll get variable success with connectivity and functionality.
Do got have the most up to date vendor and is the kernel your using optimised correctly or should you expect issues!

Definitely not a bug. I have been using the preview since day one, and WiFi is working completely fine. Here's what you can try - wipe cache from recovery. And then if it still doesn't show up, you may try resetting your router settings.
I have faced such issue, but that would be subjected to all my devices connected to that specific router. Caused generally by lousy internet connectivity, or some router issues.
I had already tried doing both those things but the problem still persists. I guess I'll just have to try a factory reset or wait for the next update and see if it resolves itself.

The next update is near. In case you can't wait, factory/reset would be good option.
Went ahead and rolled back to MM and everything was working well, then I reinstalled N and wifi was again working without issue. I just returned home from an interview though and wifi will not detect my network again. SSID is still saved, but won't appear in the list or connect. Did a cache wipe from recovery, re-entered my wifi info, reset modem and router, but still no luck. So it appears to be something that I can replicate, and only with N. Here's hoping the next update fixes it.
I'm on the N beta preview 3, and my wifi will randomly stop working on my 6P. I have to switch it back each and every time. Also, when I return home, my 6P won't automatically reconnect to wifi like it did on MM. Definitely seems like a bug.
I am using the latest preview. Wi-Fi won't connect. It shows both the 2.4 and 5 ghz options as saved, but it won't use either one. Older version of Android connects fine to same router. I have a NetGear router.
same issue
Yes I would like to report having this issue as well on the 6P in N beta. I have a 5x on MM in one hand 6P on N beta in the other . 5x has connection fine 6P does not using 3 different routers.
Android N on 5x experiencing same issue. Any resolution?
I can report the same. Has anyone discovered a fix?

Wifi works great on preview 4. Might suggest a full wipe of your phone and flash again. ATTACH]3800543[/ATTACH]

Mine works well however if you turn it off and then travel away from your router with wifi off; it will fail to reconnect upon returning to your home wifi and turning it back on. Do you ever turn your wifi off for an extended period of time?

WiFi Issue
Don't know if related. In my case, cannot turn on/off wifi. Even while of it shows the progress bar as if it was looking for networks. Have no wi-fi at this point and unenrolling from the beta isn't sending me the rollback to marshmallow. This on a Nexus 6P
Temporarily fix
I found a temporarily fix till the next update (hopefully) fixes it. Hop to advanced setting and click on wps button. Wait for 5-10 second then click cancel. Hop back to wifi list and you should find your SSID. Sometimes it won't connect even though it's saved and appears in the list. What you want to do is keep clicking on connect. This should help, atleast it does for me. Nexus 5X on Android N.
So, I have been having some extremely frustrating issues with the WiFi on my 6P. I got my phone in January and I have been super happy with it except for this one issue. Since I got it, I was using the stock OS up until the April security patches came out. Before the patches, I had some issues, but the phone was still mostly usable. Especially after that update, however, I have been faced with two very irritating WiFi issues.
When my phone goes to sleep, the WiFi connection inevitably drops out. Sometimes, the WiFi will still be active but not associated, but it will frequently have also switched itself off completely.
I can only stay connected to a network for about 30 seconds tops. The connection will just stall out and then reconnect after several seconds.
In an effort to get better performance, I decided to switch from the stock OS to PureNexus (which I used and loved on my old Nexus 5) and I also flashed the ElementalX kernel. For the first few days, the WiFi performance was rock solid, but slowly it got worse than it was on stock to the point of being unusable now. Now, here's what I have already tried/checked:
The "Keep WiFi awake during sleep" option in the Settings app is DEFINITELY set to Always.
This issue is not specific to any one network. It had occurred on every network that I've used and on 2.4G and 5G networks (although it seems to be worse on 5Ghz)
I tried turning the band selection off Automatic and choosing both 2.4 and 5 only options, both just seemed to make it worse.
I've removed all apps that I installed and checked logcat for any app info that might be related to the issue. All I see is just normal stuff and then BAM! The wifi driver states that it disassociated from the AP.
I tried installing WakeLock to hold WIFI_MODE_FULL at all times. This hasn't made much of a difference with it disassociating while the screen is off.
Has anyone else experienced issues like this? I am to the point now where I might have to send in my phone under the warranty because I don't know if it's just detective hardware or what at this point. The fact that it worked well after a clean install would seem to suggest that it isn't, but the fact that it persisted across two different ROMs suggests that maybe it is.
Either way, I am at a loss and I've exhausted all the diagnostic skill that I have trying to fix this because it's so damn frustrating when you're in the middle of doing something and you can't stay connected for 30 seconds. Any help or ideas would be appreciated immensely!
My issue is the wifi connects but no internet message

Is this with different Access Points or just at a particular wifi spot? I would factory reset the device, reboot your router, make sure you don't have any odd settings on your router like modified channel bandwidth, etc. If the 6p doesn't stay locked on, it's a hardware issue and I would do a warranty claim. My 6p wifi has been money since January with every ROM.
