I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 and I've been combing these forums trying to look for a solutions.
I would like to handle three way calls better on my phone. Currently there is no stock option to do this on the Sprint version of the S4 like there is on the ATT and T-mobile versions.
I used to think that this was a limitation of CDMA but it turns out this this feature works perfectly on AOSP based roms that are on Sprint. It works on CM 10.2 PAC and the Google Edition roms. But those roms have other stability issues. Therefore I would like to remain stock.
I am coming to this forum to find out if it's possible to port the in call dialer or mainly the manage conference call feature from the stock ATT S4 rom and port it to Sprint.
Or is it possible to just create a swap button like there is on AOSP roms.
Please help.
You should ask a mod to move this to the sprint s4 forums...

Yes, please move it to where it needs to go, so we can continue the conversation properly.. as i'm also wondering the exact thing that OP has questioned....
To have such an advanced phone, that is not even capable of managing conference calling (merging, splitting, hanging up on specified #'s, etc)that a flip phone, or bar phone could is pathetic.... If I knew that this was a lacking area on the galaxy s4 on sprint, I would have held off purchasing this thing... as it is after all supposed to be a phone, and contain all of the "phone-like" features.. lol.
Please help.
Please forgive me, how do I get this moved to the Sprint S4 forums? I've never had to interact with any of the mods before.

I am switching from Sprint to AT&T, as I already said in the subject, and I am looking for some QUICK opinions.
As most people probably have gone through this when buying their phone, I am debating on the S4 Active or the HTC One.
Upon coming onto here though, I was leaning more toward the HTC One because I like several things about it, more than the normal S4 and S4 Active, and because most of the S4 software features I don't really care about; I'm an EVO 3D owner, so I know how the gimmicks go. Nonetheless there are things that do attract me to the S4 Active over the One
I noticed the difference in activity for the S4 vs the One is SIGNIFICANT. ~13.5k posts for the S4 and ~3.6k posts for the One. Why is this? Are there that many junk postings\ROMs\etc or is it really just THAT active in this community? Is this section the same area to go to for the S4 Active device w/ AT&T?
- How is battery life? This is more geared toward the S4 \ S4 Active veteran users as I don't care how long your battery is lasting after you got your phone just a week ago lol
- How is NORMAL everyday use of the camera\camcorder?
- Are there significant amounts of SOLID daily drivers that are varying in style and operation? (ROMs)
- For the Active, how is call quality (for both sides), are there any other downsides to the Active edition vs regular S4 or HTC One?
Thanks

OK I'll try to answer most of ur questions there r more posts in the s4 section for two reasons 1 there r two devices using this forum the s4 and the s4 active 2 s4 has sold 20 million devices or so the HTC one about 5 million ( est not exact number from what I read )
Battery close is similar on all 3 devices for a lot of ppl the decidinng factor is the SD card and removable battery which HTC one has neither plus that power button being on top ( u had a evo 3d u mite be used to this )
Daily drivers there is plenty of good ROMs for the s4 and the HTC one
The active is really limited in this aspect since it has yet to acquire custom recovery exploit yet
The s4 has a boot loader exploit so u can use custom recovery as long as u don't update it out of the box mf3 ( plenty of threads on how to freeze att updater )
Out of the total amt of phones sold very few ppl actually flash ROMs a small percent of the android population the galaxy line has always had a lot of devs and ROMs cuz of its awesome specs and likability and ease to root and flash ROMs ( minus boot loader locking which isn't Samsung's fault its the carriers )
Hope this helps u and answers ur questions

Thanks for the fairly detailed response!
I have a couple other questions for you - is the cartoon-like UI their TouchWiz software?
Not to ruffle any feathers but I don't really like that aspect of it.
Also, when you unlock the bootloader and\or root, do you still get the annoying triangle upon boot? My friend had the S III and he had that problem. It didn't affect functionality but it was a bit tacky\annoying.
Yeah I have found AT&T to be root\unlock Nazis, but it seemed to be select devices they like to lock down. Not sure why, because you still have your plan that limits you lol
Thanks again!

TW (TouchWhiz) is samsungs launcher and I wouldn't call it cartoon-like, but if you think so there are alternatives such as launchers from the Play Store, or flashing an AOSP ROM for vanilla Android look and feel.
As far as unlocking the bootloader, there are working methods as to remove the triangle on boot, so don't sweat that.
Hi All,
Sorry if this is a really stupid question.
I bought a Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition like 2-3 weeks ago and have been using it ever since. I switched from iPhone to Android and bought the GPE based on many recommendations that the stock OS is better.
But for some reason, I want to experience the features that come on the TouchWiz as well. After a lot of googling and looking around on the forums, I can't seem to find the solution.
Is there anyway to install the TouchWiz interface on my s4 and get all the features that come with the s4 (like Air Gestures, Smart Pause etc) ?
Youll never know until you try. We can flash ge editions to touchwiz but dont know about vice versa..

I tried flashing my Google S4 to stock samsung firmware.
For me I was never able to root the phone using the method for i9505 model. My phone almost got bricked and luckily one of my friends who is a CS major and develops apps for android was able to unbrick it for me.
I don't think a method exists yet, someone needs to work on this...
isnt ur phone like 19500? try using a TW rom from there/
Hello I am a novice when it comes to flashing phones however I can follow directions, I used to run android software on windows phone back when the htc leo first came out, any way I have been searching for a week throughout various forums on how to flash my sprint Samsung s4 to metro pcs. first, i did use the search button so no flaming. at the risk of sounding like a noob, here goes nothing. i just picked up a verizon g2 variant and love it! however i have found a couple roms on the att side (who is my carrier) that i would like to use. so im wondering can these roms be used on different devices or do you need to stick to your carriers sub forum? perhaps flashing a kernel or something additional.
any help is greatly appreciated! oh, and the reason for a verizon phone on att is simply because of the awesome deal i got.
thanks!!!
Dont flash the ROM from AT&T. You'll most likely going to boot loop or even worse brick your phone. There's a reason they have different sub forums for different carriers. Stick to the verizon sub forum or go to the Original Android development and look for ROMs that works on VS980 only. But if you really want the ROM. It never hurts to ask.
Hi there every one,
This is my first thread and second post. I have made some research but really want to make this question, can Touchwiz on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge be changed for the stock version of Android? If yes, How many core functionalities (Edge contacts, etc) Will be lost?
Thank you.
It depends on which version of the Galaxy s7 you get. Verizon and at&t lock their bootloaders, so it would be impossible on those versions. In addition, you would have to wait for someone to find a root method, and for a developer to make a custom ROM. As far as features go, you would would lose all Touchwiz related features such as the edge functionality, split screen, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.
If you're able to unlock the bootloader (if it's locked) and once root comes out for the device and ROMs are available, then yes you can. But as the person before me said, you'll lose all of TouchWiz's extra features and it'll be like using a Nexus device. I personally wouldn't want to install Stock Android on my S7 Edge, I think TouchWiz brings a lot of things to the table for it.
Would we not be able to use the Samsung camera app if this was done? Would this make the camera have worse performance in terms of speed and processing or??

In the past, if you install stock Android you need to use the AOSP or Google camera app, or any of the many in the Play Store. Some port cameras from other phones, but generally the camera experience will be significantly worse in terms of performance, quality, and features.
Thank you for the helpful information.
Except whats beeing posted above, if you want some stock feel to the homescreen and apps atleast there is the Google Launcher you could use, and maybe a theme? But other than that, nothing more right now. But im going to give the new UI a chance, looks promising.
Are these phones not all the same this time around?
Wasn't it being said that they are all the same and whatever the first SIM card you pop in locks into that carrier?
If this is the case, won't all of the S7 Edge US models be technically unified for development?
No, the phones are designed for different carriers, and have support for different LTE bands. In addition, Verizon and at&t lock their bootloaders so u can't customize phones u get from them. U might be able to use a T-Mobile phone on at&t because they share many of the same bands.
i have searched... and cant find the exact answer.. so i have an ATT galaxy S7, and i want to get rid of the touchwiz.. and the horrible samsung messenger, email, and phone, and other apps.. i would like it to be the same as my nexus phone. can anyone point me in the right direction?
Try Google Now Launcher and download the google apps for messaging, calling, clock, etc
is there a way to fully disable samsung dialer/contacts and use google instead ? what about incoming phonecalls ?
