I installed safestrap 3.6 as explained in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448942
Everything worked fine, created a new slot with 3Gbyte size. However, I could ntot get custom ROM installed there. I copied ROM .zip file (CARBON-JB-1.8-jflteatt.zip) to internal SD card + gapps -jb-20130813-signed.zip. Got "installation completed" message for both ZIPs, and then :
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount internal storage. Got green "Successful" message under the window where all log messages were running.
Then when rebooting with newly-flashed ROM slot, the phone does not boot, it is stuck with back screen and the only way to get it back to life is to power-cycle it and boot into stock ROM slot.
Any idea what went wrong?
Phone details:
Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
Android 4.2.2
Baseband version - I337UCUAMF3
Kernel version 3.4.0-812098
Thanks,
Carbon is not tw based. Only touch wiz based roms will work.
I think the only aosp ROM that works is GPE 4.2.2 try that. But check its compatibility first

all the google edition roms work with safestrap as far as I know, I've tested most of them. if it's one from another carrier the most you have to change are the apn settings. I'll be testing VirginROM later.

on the first boot of installing any rom, I always skip the initial setup. wait until the rom has booted first then add your google account and setup wifi and 4.3 roms are not compatible with safestrap
If you want a good GE 4.3 ROM, try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395030
That's what I use as my daily driver. It works great, and is an untouched 4.3 GE ROM, except for the kernel. You can customize it yourself if you want before you install it.

4.3 roms don't work with safestrap.
It's been my understanding GE ones are TW based--
Got that from playing with KT's kernels
Maybe I am wrong--

Currently only TouchWiz and GE 4.2.2 roms work. I tried GE 4.3 and it wouldn't turn on. Hopefully within the next week at&t treats us with a cookie and release 4.3 update.

Today I was messing with my phone and decide to download 4.3. I had forgotten that I rooted my phone a few days back so I ended up doing the OTA update without taking root off. Now my WiFi isn't working, I restarted my phone and that did fix it. I like to know if there is a fix for this?

I have Clockwork currently installed, should I replace it or can I have both installed?

Install a tw 4.3 kernel like kt kernel in original development
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Okay. Tried to flash the MJA Modem and Kernel through Odin and was getting the bad binary error. Just installed the KT Kernel for 4.3 TW and I'm still getting a similar issue. WiFi is just stuck on turning on but never fully gets there.. Any ideas??? Another kernel perhaps?

So I had flash back to the original rom that I was using, my QUESTION is that I like cm11 alot, so how can i fix this problem?
Which Note model? -- N9005 or N9005 variant? -
T/w8 ?
Which recovery do you use?

It is actually N9006 but temasek's v45 for n9005 and earlier worked fine, I am using CWM rec.
Until recently, temasek's v46 and 47, the baseband becomes unknown
Last time a user had that issue, he fixed it by flashing stock via odin and then CM but he was using a n9005 so I am not sure if that will work for you as well...However no harm in trying.

I'm sorry but I speak poor English. What is a Stock? I've tried flashing kernel and baseband but it did not work.
When I use Temasek's v45, it shows that my baseband is ML1, but when I use further version, it becomes unknown.

ok i see, i tought it was sth like baseband or kernel or sth else.
I just flashed a n9006 rom made by chinese romers to get my note mp4 into a note3, or i could just use temasek's v45.
I just wanna use the latest cm11 rom but it seems that it's not quite possible for now, so i'll just stick to my original rom...

it worked for me though
It also worked for me although sadly I could not use my backup again after flashing back to cyanogenemod so its time to start downloading. At least my phone is fully functional now, even if I lost a bit of data.
I had the same issue move than once, i would lose imei number etc.
Found out that it wasn't prompting for pin unlock on boot.
Since removing this I've had no problems
Yea it also wasn't prompting for ping with mine.
Though starting again fresh does work, I am currently again on the latest nightlies. however if this happens again I will probably wait for a stable release because having to reinstall everything is not really desirable.

I'm trying to install a custom rom onto my ATT Galaxy S4. I have Safestrap installed and I can boot to the recovery.
I've tried putting BeanStalk on it and it shows the "SafeStrap Enabled" and then shuts off. So then I did some more searching and put ProjectChaos on it. It'll boot to the custom bootlogo that I've chosen and it just stays there. It won't go past that.
I don't exactly know what I'm doing wrong here...
Can anyone give me any insight?

I don't know about ProjectChaos, but thought Beanstalk was CM based. You can't run CM/AOSP roms. Only TW based with TW kernels--
Check out Mapleleaf rom.... it is tw based and runs beautifully with the googy-max kernel....dumb question but you are wiping between rom changes right?

I am assuming ProjectChaos is TW, I got it installed and it's running nicely.
The only problem I've had thus far (I just got it installed a few hours ago) is when it boots up it says "com.android.phone" has stopped when it boots up.
I had to go back into SS and Fix Permissions and rewipe cache, etc. because I was having a reboot issue. But that solved that.
Thanks for the help everyone!!

I would like to downgrade from KitKat to Jelly Bean. How can I do so? I have tried flashing CM 10.2, but I didn't have service. Has Google done something with 4.4, like change something with the radio/baseband? If so, how can I revert it so I can go back to 4.3?
Does anybody know?
no. i have gone back and forth between jellybean and kitkat without issue, but i stay as far as i can from cm. i just flashed a different aosp jellybean and aosp kitkat roms without issue. for you, wipe data and flash a jellybean cm and gapps.
