Is it possible to have MHL support in an AOSP rom? I can't seem to find any roms that have it but I know that the google edition phone has MHL support.
It's the only thing I miss and would love to have it. Is that a kernel thing or is it something else?

Hoping someone in the know may be able to advise on this.
For those of us who are not fans of TouchWiz, is it likely that putting non-TouchWiz roms on the Note will remove support for some or all of the S-pen's features? I know that ICS has native stylus support but some of the S-pen features (e.g. screen shot, S-note software etc) seem custom.
Could these be baked into other roms (CM, MIUI, AOSP etc) or is it likely to be one or the other (S-pen or custom rom)?

I understand that the SDK allows third-party apps to communicate with the S-pen, but does it also allow the S-pen I/O framework to be put into a custom rom? Those two things seem to come from opposite sides of the equation.

There are lots of custom roms that give best of both worlds.
I like vanilla roms but dont want to miss some of the good feature in samsung roms.
In Galaxy SII section there are some good roms that have the vanilla rom but enable users to install samsung features.
So I am hopeful if we can get more developers in
Question here...
I know that the N7 3G and the N4 are not yet supported by AOSP due to GSM stack licensing issues.
Yet over in the N4 forum they already have AOSP based ROMs and now there are CM10.1 nightly builds. How are they getting that to work if the N4 isn't in AOSP yet?
And whatever they're doing, can the same be done with our N73G in order to make AOSP and CM possible?
Bump... still curious about this.
I'm waiting for it too. I'm considering to get a N7 3G but won't buy it until it has AOSP because I want CM/AOKP rom.
Right, I'm just perplexed as to how it is that AOSP ROMs are hitting the Nexus 4 without it being in AOSP at all, and yet the same isn't happening for the N73G.
I love my S4, but I hate the stock system on it. I bought it with roming specifically in mind. One of the MUST have features for me is audio out through USB into a car dock. Apparently, this is a huge pain to get working on ROM's. The only one I have found that works is the Google Edition ROM, but I have a Sprint phone so I'm stuck on Jelly Bean. Does anyone know a 4.4 Rom that supports this. I know the Omni people know it is a problem, but their only response was that it is a pain and it breaks stuff to try to fix it.
We could REALLY use an AOSP ROM over here on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) -P600/WiFi Only tablet.
I know there's someone out there who is interested in starting a new project as the first developer to produce an AOSP ROM for this kick ass device:fingers-crossed:
...hopefully!
So, who here is willing to donate? I know I DEFINITELY am!
Maybe we'd even be lucky enough to get an INCREDIBLE developer like we did for our TouchWiz HYPERDRIVE(sbreen94) <---- thanks for that!!!
Perhaps even @blindndumb or @albinoman887 would be interested!!?
IF YOU'RE WILLING TO DONATE FOR AN AOSP ROM, LET IT BE KNOWN!!!
and for P601
Correct me If I'm wrong, but Exynos 5 (P600) is not really supported by AOSP roms, so only Snapdragon variants like the P605 are likely to be compatible with any AOSP rom. It's likely better to purchase a P605 and run CM11, than wait for an Exynos 5 AOSP build.
Also, why would you want to remove the S-Pen features from a Tablet, who's main selling point is the S-Pen?
I won't be complaining if it happens but personally I can't really see any real benefits to having an ASOP Rom on this device at this point in time.
I prefer ASOP on the original note n7000 as you can get the latest Android OS that hasn't been released officially for that device. Also the older hardware is lacking and slow under the TW interface so you get big performance boost by having a lighter ROM.
This tablet has plenty of grunt and currently the latest Android OS so yeh not much point having ASOP imo.
With Android L coming out that might make a port more worthwhile
I would be happily willing to donate if someone prepares a P601 version.
I don't think Samsung releases binaries for the Exynos, so that's going good to add a layer of difficulty.
Plus with a device like this, you're going to lose a lot of functionality like all the spen stuff, multiwindows, floating Windows, ir transmitter, etc...
Hello,
I still use my S5 as my only phone.
So far I'm pretty happy with it, but as Samsung gave up support quite some time ago, I'm asking myself it there is a solution to get security updates again.
The problem: I really want to keep MHL support and as far as I could find out, LineageOS doesn't have MHL on the S5.
Are there other (actively developed) projects that offer some updated Android OS for the S5 with MHL support?
Thanks in advance
