If I restore to stock ROM, would my device status change back from custom to official?
Yes
Your phone will go back to "official"

I used odin to go back to stock then once it booted up did a factory reset from the settings/accounts/backup & reset. It boots with the original Galaxy S4 screen and shows official now.

Doing a factory reset leaves my phone rooted and bootloader unlocked correct?
If i where to factory reset my nexus 4 which has CM 11 installed, would i be back on stock rom? Can I then flash the factory image for lollipop?

If you have CM11 installed you'll still have it once reset as it's the ROM that's in permanent memory

How do I remove CM11 ? I've been having problems with calls not going through and I think it has something to do with it.
If you flash another rom it will cover anyway the CM11.
So you can flash the stock or any other rom you want.
Hi,
i want to sell the note and flashed stock firmware with odin .... before i had bob4 custom rom
i flashed the stock firmware in download mode but my data was still there... all my settings.... and wallpaper and stuff.... but the recovery was stock...
did it work then ?
i thought the data is also deleted when making a factory reset.
Is it stock now ... or ??
thanks

Flashing stock ROM by ODIN does not delete your personal data. Factory reset does.
so i was on stock rom and i rooted it and installed twrp 3.0.2-0 and then did a backup of the stock rom and unticked data because i already have a backup of everything that was on the galaxy s4 on my computer and then i installed google play edition untouched rom and i didn't like it so i restored my backup and now when i booted back in it says com.android.phone has stopped working and it keeps appearing, i restarted and i got the same error and somehow i got to write my pin code and when i went in it showed my google play edition wallpaper for some reason and when it kept on flashing the same error then settings has stopped working came up! help me please! Download mode is still working, when i try to boot into recovery it says something in red and then some white text below it and then it goes black and boots into galaxy s4 gt i9505 screen.
Help will be appreciated
Did you perform a full wipe in TWRP before restoring your backup?

You may have to wipe system and format data before restoring.

Maybe reflash TWRP using Odin in download mode, wipe, and restore?

ok thank you so much for the quick help
Good luck. If that doesn't work, I suggest flashing a completely stock ROM from sammobile.com, factory reset, reflash TWRP, and then try a restore.

Hi,
When I flash the Stock ROM downloaded from Sammobile, I flash that and everything it's ok, but when it boots, it's appear the SystemUI and the theme of my previous Custom ROM (based on Stock), but the sound of notification are the Stock ones. (Obviously) the SystemUI does FC and I can't use my phone. I don't now what I'm doing wrong.
Please, help me.
Thank you in advance.

After the stock rom is flashed, perform factory data reset from the recovery.
Something is wrong with my phone, because now I can't flash the TWRP, the problem it's the same, but boots the stock recovery. I don't understand, when the last month I flash the same TWRP with no problems and in the same mode...

If the theme that was on your custom rom was official from samsung themes then it restored after you intalled stock. Because you installed stock rom, have you enabled oem unlock from dev. settings before installing custom rec through odin? And do a factory reset.

Check the os version before flashing and make sure it is for your model only

If you want to install twrp recovery you should unlick Auto reboot in Odin then turn off your phone after you flashed the recovery and then press vol up + home + power button together to go to recovery mode.
Hey, my S8 is currently running a custom rom and works perfectly fine..however I want to reset my phone back to its original state so I can update to oreo then root my phone again.
Would it be safe to just goto settings and select factory reset as I don't have access to twrp anymore or any root apps or would I need to use odin and flash a stock image?
Thanks for your time!
