I am in need of the apk's for the stock touchwiz and at&t bloatware applications if anybody rooted on the stock software can copy these for me I would be very grateful. I am on mf3 so I can't flash an ota recovery with all of the software on it.
I did a little searching and couldn't seem to find the apk's to sideload these back onto my device.

Try this. You should be able to download and unzip it and pick what you want. Not sure about the odex/deodex though.

You can't flash anything from MF3. So the DR App Machine won't work either. That and a stock ROM are just sources of apks that you will have to copy and paste. Use extreme caution since there is no MF3 firmware available for you to flash with Odin should you get in trouble.
Don't try to flash the DR app machine. Unzip it and install the apk's inside of it just like you would any other apk. Just keep in mind if something goes wrong your screwed. Proceed with caution.

In typical amateur fashion, I managed to remove root access from my previously rooted I337 running LiquidSmooth 2.9. I was thinking it wouldn't be difficult to "switch it on or off". Evidently, not the case! Tried Casual and motochopper, but failed to gain root again. I've been searching my butt off, but can't seem to find the right advice. Do I need to go back to stock and start all over again? Suggestions? Let me know if I need to provide more details about my configuration. Thanks!
I assume you have an i337 on mdl. I'd try to download super su form the play store and install that. It may work. Otherwise you might have to start all over.

One other thing I'd try is flash supersu-busybox in your recovery, twrp or cwm. It's a zip file. Not sure if that would work on your device though.

i was going to suggest that.
here is chainfire's recovery-flashable superSU zip: http://download.chainfire.eu/342/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.43.zip
Bingo! Problem solved! Many thanks to both of you. :highfive:
Hello, first time poster. I recently tried rooting my phone using CWM method. I'm running sph-l720 with software version vpaumf9 and android version 4.2.2. I installed CWM (this version SPH-L720 OUDHS Recovery) with odin with success. Then flashed SuperUser v.099. Everything went smooth until I opened up super user and tried to install binaries and it says "Install failed". I'm wondering if I didnt have the wrong beginning firmware and i needed to (but didnt) install that pre-kernel. I'm also wondering if I have to download the original firmware and have to flash to stock in order to "unroot" even though I didnt finish the SuperUser process, or is their a way to delete the super user app and try to install it again using the same CWM i have already on the phone. I hope this isn't confusing. I'm not a complete novice to rooting, but no expert. I rooted my galaxy s2 but went to Iphone for a while, but now I'm back and a little dissapointed with myself at this fail. Any suggestions? Do i have to go to stock first? Was I using the wrong files for my initial firm ware and need the pre kernel? Am I blabbering on? (yes) Thanks in advance.

Grap CF-Autoroot from here
Follow the instructions here:
Boot back to phone. Open up SU and update binaries.
Then
Go to Playstore and download/install GooManager
Open GooManager and then press the 'menu' button (capicitive button next to Home Button) and choose to install recovery (I like TWRP).
Then let it do it's thing.
If you'd like a real easy way to get 'into recovery mode' from the phone I use the Quickboot app
Also make sure that if you are going to flash ANY ROMs you follow the instructions the developer suggests - many suggest specific recoveries be used

thank you! do i need to do anything before i do this? (Like using odin to revert back to stock?)
i ask because i already have CWM installed
I did the auto root, and open SuperSU and it doesnt ask to update binaries...does that mean it is already done. I didnt find the option in the settings.

As long as your on some kind of TW/Stock based ROM you should be Okay.
However if you want to go back to straight (AND ROOTED) stock you can use one of rwhilco12's 'one-click' restores.
The one click downloads as a zip. decompress and then run the one -click. If you've never run a oneclick read here
It will give you a stock ROM, rooted, MF9 Modem, Stock recovedry, and Stock kernel. You'll then have to use GooManger method to get custom recovery.

man thanks so much. so i definitly got super user access. I'm about to do the goo manager. since you suggested the twrp i think i'm going to try that. since i have CWM recovery installed, do u think that will create any issues if I go to install TWRP from goo manager
actually i googled and it seems that goo manager will seamlessly overwrite cwm. sorry for the questions before searching. appreciate the help. i almost didn't come on here, which would of lead me to reverting to stock, doing cwm again, then being upset that i needed twrm for most roms lmao. I owe u one. If u ever need to learn how to make bad decisions, just shoot me a pm. I got u covered.
No it will just replace it.
I actually (and many around here too) prefer TWRP 2.5.0.2.
You can download the zip for that here, boot to recovery you have now (CWM) and then install that. Or use Goo to install lates TWRP and boot to recovery and then install zip and choose the 2.5.02 you downloaded and then save to your sd card
scratch what i posted here. I ended up having to download ROMmanager and update CWM, then used CWM to install the zip you provided me. thanks so much man. Do you have a favorite stable ROM you recommend using TWRP. I value your advice

Glad you got it.
As for ROMs you really have to try them out for yourself. There are some really great TW ROMs ; Sacs, negalite, triforce and others. For CM/AOSP there are a whole bunch to choose from. I mess with just about all of them. But my daily driver has to be one hundred percent working and reliable so for that I'm usually on a stock debloated and modified TW ROM. Take some time to read through the OPs of the devs and just as importantly through the follow up posts to see what works what doesn't ahs how to fix or get what you need.
Good luck

Try this Rom!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327692&page=43
works great!
I have root and had Safestrap installed. I tried to install the OTA update and it downloads fine, but when it goes to update, it errors out at 25%. So I removed Safestrap and tried again. No dice.
I finally tried sideloading it, and everything goes well until it actually goes to install. It errors out when checking and points to a "NfcNci.apk" file as the culprit. I think I did use the Verizon Google Wallet version to get the tap-to-pay feature to work, which may have given me a new file.
Does anyone have a stock, AT&T NfcNci.apk file they could send me? I'd hate to reflash with Odin.
Thanks!

You could possibly just extract that APK from the ODIN files and get it that way without doing the ODIN flash.

Ohhh, good idea. As simple as just downloading the ODIN zip, open it like a zip and extract?

Extracting APKs from regular TAR files takes a bit more. The best thing to do is Google "how to extract an apk from a tar" and do some reading. However, I'm not sure about the MF3 ODIN file, it appears segmented. The only thing I can suggest is to dl it and see if you can get the apk easily or not. Good luck.
I've captured the OTA zip for XT1052 India 4.4.4 update.
Instructions (You should be on android 4.4.2)
For both locked and unlocked bootloaders
1. Place the downloaded file in sdcard
2. Don't rename the file, it should be exactly as it is
3. Rooted users make sure you're as close to stock as possible
4. Go to settings-> about-> system updates
5. It will prompt to install the update
Download XT1052 India 4.4.4 OTA
Could you post the stock recovery image of the 4.4.2 ROM, please?

Yep, the update just popped up. How do you capture it by the way? What's the path?

You already installed it? Once you install it, the file is erased - forever. All OTAs are this way. You MUST extract it before you install it.
Confirm: Did you install it or not? Also, if not - has it downloaded completely?
EDIT: I'll take your lack of response as you confirming that you did install it...

Yes, un-root, and remove all traces of having rooted. That includes any changes done to your System Files which Xposed might have done. You will have to flash the stock recovery too.

No, my lack of response was because of the reading I was doing here on XDA as why I wasn't seeing the OTA zip file under cache. Then I realized that I did not download the OTA, I thought that it was downloaded already as I had data on and it was just asking me to whether it should install or not.
Now I downloaded the OTA, and it's there under cache folder, and now at a safe place on my desktop.
I would never install it on my phone without flashing back stock ROM again anyway. I like to do things fresh.

Thanks. It's always nice to have the latest of Android. The new dialer is meaningless for me, again, it just changed it's viewing type, nothing else has been changed! Need to install ExDialer as usual. Will see if there's really something done with the camera, can't take any meaningful photos at 3:30 in the morning
Just one thing, as I have taken the OTA after a fresh install of stock ROM, now I don't need to format it again from recovery right?
There is already a thread for the 4.4.4 rollout here, please use it instead of having two similar discussions going on in 2 separate threads. Thanks

Heres is a copy of my stock rooted NG2 ROM backup that i made with philz recovery (download supersu from playstore after boot) this backup is in .zip format so just extract the folder from it into your clockworkmod/backup folder and boot into recovery and restore it.

Hi Church,
the download link is working as for I'm downloading it now. Do you think this will fix my no sound problem?
I posted in another thread about not having sound after rooting my phone and one of the other members said I should go back to stock and reroot.
Hey churchey360,
I came across this thread and thought it was a great idea. So, I tried it and something didn't work right. I was on stock rooted NAE with Philz, so I thought this would work like a charm. It seemed to finish the restore OK, but then I can't get any cell network, no wifi or anything. Any recommendations? No big deal if not, I can reflash my NAE rom if necessary and start from there. Just thought your idea was pretty good. Thanks for posting, let me know if you (or anyone?) has any ideas. Thanks.
