Long time user/fan of SlimRoms. Was running the latest Beta 4 on my AT&T Galaxy S4. I noticed it was lagging whenever I was opening apps, so I was going to clear out my cache and dalvik cache through TWRP. I decided to make a backup while I was in TWRP. I noticed it showed there was an insane amount of data to back up. I rebooted and went to check my storage, and it showed I had 9.57GB Total, and 8.2GB were being used for apps. I knew that was impossible, so I decided to do a fresh install. Did full wipe, download Slim again (just in case it was a bad download) and installed Slim without GApps. Did a restore of my apps (no data) through TiBu, then showed only 826MB being used for apps and still had close to 8GB free. Then I flashed Slim Minimal GApps (new download as well), rebooted and seen the same as before with apps taking a large amount of space with only .93GB being free. I went back to Slim Beta 3 and had the exact same issue. Also tried the slim AIO GApps I also flashed CWM instead of TWRP and tried that way in case it was an issue with recovery. Exact same problem. I flashed the latest Cyanogenmod nightly and GApps, restored everything and the storage is correct. Anyone else noticed this same problem? I really like SlimRom and it's features, and would like to use it again if the issue can be fixed. Thanks.

So, I decided to do a full wipe (minus sd) and re-install a fresh copy of CM7 7.1.0 on my Nex S. Anyways, I went into CWM, did cache wipe, factory wipe, and dalvik, wiped /data manually for good measure, and went thru installing the ROM, then my custom kernel (TEUV morfic), and then the latest gapps.
Upon boot, I notice the following things:
1. The welcome screen never comes up! It just goes to the desktop/home screen.
2. The market is gone! I've never had this happen, but it's just not there anymore
3. I can't add Google accounts like I normally do. It only allows me to add Exchange accounts.
What am I missing here?!? This is driving me nuts. I've tried reinstalling, rewiping, reflashing, re-EVERYTHING to no avail. I don't understand WTF is up with this.
You forgot to flash the latest gapps.
http://goo-inside.me/gapps
Note. You may have flashed the one that is labeled new-talk at the end. This is not the full gapps. You flash that file alongside the gapps with the same date.

Started with OMNI shown on galaxynote2root.com. Was working nearly flawlessly until today when I lost my mobile network (all services: phone, text, data - antenna was essentially gone). Not clear on exactly what I did when it occurred but I did flash 1/13/14 nightly manually via CWM (have done this with the previous nightly's without any problems). Tried wiping cache/data, Dalvik w/o luck. Tried formatting my internal SD also w/o luck. Doing a fresh install (as opposed to restore) did restore all mobile network services but of course I am now having to re-setup my phone. After installing fresh install, tried restoring w/o any wipe - again no luck.
Quite frustrating. I had read something out there that talked about remapping the tree (not sure what this means). In any case, is there a fix for this so I can restore my prior backups with mobile services working and also avoid this the future?
So here we go again; no service after wipe. Grrrrrrrr!!

So here we go again. Went to load the stock Sprint TouchWiz ROM. Wiped cache partition, wiped Dalvik, and did stand wipe cache/data. Had some issue with the stock ROM flashing so I went ahead and loaded my backup I just made of my newly setup OMNI ROM. And once again no network service what so ever. I really enjoy this ROM but it's thinks like this that push me back to the most supported ROM for my phone, the TouchWiz ROM. It's like I'm being held hostage to this Omni ROM in the sense that it appears that should I want do any wipe of any sorts or anything to that effect I'm essentially screwed and might as well just flash the the original ROM all over again.
There's got to be one of you Dev's out there that knows why this is happened and can let me know if there is a fix for this that will allow me to keep my setup as is. Someone who's knows, please response. If you need more info, please ask. I'm about to ditch this ROM over this issue. Otherwise, nearly flawless use of the ROM until this point.
Okay, so I was able to find a fix for this problem. After the complete wipe as described in my second post, I restored my recent backup. As mentioned above, no mobile service whatsoever at that pont. I then restarted back into CWM recovery and flashed the same version nightly as that of my backup and it appeared to do an update. I was then able to boot back into my restored backup with everything intact and all mobile services working.
Yes, I found a fix for myself but Devs why the heck do I have to go through that? Why cannot I not simply restore my backup and go on with life? Much headache over the past day or so over this.
So I installed the the 1/13/14 nightly as a fresh install. I stared messing around with advanced restore. When I restore only the /system folder that is when I lose all mobile cell services.
So ive been using OmniROM 4.4 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300 for over 6-7 months now (since around 22/11/2013). It has all been working as a treat. Two nights ago something seemed to of happened on my phone and few apps disappeared (they had the green android robot logo). I was also notified that some apps have updated. I am unsure what these apps were (my guess would be the googles apps; google books, google movies etc. because they were all next to each other in alphabetical order). So because of this i decided to turn my phone off. When i turned it back on, it would be stuck on the OmniROM Logo whilst booting up. It would be stuck on this for a few hours. So I left it over night. Then the next morning it had booted up and a error message popped up saying "Stystem UID's Inconsistent" with a button saying "I'm Feeling Lucky". So I clicked the button and unlocked the phone. Then the homescreen was black and blank. There was no background image, apps, widgets etc. However, I can access the notification bar. If i had any notifications, for an example a message on kik. I can click on it and it will take me to kik and it can use it as normal. When i click the home button it takes me back to a black blank screen.
So, My first reaction was to create a nandroid backup (of the black blank screen OmniROM) then wipe everything (data/factory, cache partition and dalvik cache) in CWM Recovery v6.0.4.4. After this I restored my old nandroid backup, this is my backup i created before i moved onto OmniROM so it was the Samsung galaxy s3 stock 4.1.2. So once i did this i was again greeted with the error message saying "Stystem UID's Inconsistent" with a button saying "I'm Feeling Lucky". So i clicked the button and set up my device. During this and after this Ive had about a billion pop up error messages saying "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." and "Google books has stopped working" and it did this for all the other google apps. So its pretty clear that it must be something to do with Gapps (Correct me if i'm wrong please). Also, It did not allow me to get anything from the play store apart from twitter and rom manager. snapchat and the google app updates didn't work (that is all i have tried). I had error messages saying that i couldnt download it. I have tried installing gapps and OmniROM again and it works but i still get the error messages saying that gapps and google apps have stopped. I have also restored by nandroid backup of the omnirom (that I did before i wiped everything) and i still get the blank black homescreen.
So, I want to know whether it is gapps that has caused this? If so what do i need to do? Do i need to unistall it and install it again? How do i do that?
All I want is to go back to OmniROM and it works and this problem wont happen again. Also if i can get all my data (apps, pictures etc.) that i saved in my nandroid back that i did when i was on OmniROM (before i wiped everything) then that would be great!
I appreciate it very much if you have read this and helped me out.
Despite you have given lots of details, you didn't specify which GAPPS package you're using. Who's the maintainer of the package? Are you sure it's for 4.4.x?
Nonetheless, get the latest PA GAPPS package. As @TKruzze says on the official thread: "We consider these apps as important as our ROM. It is sad that the ROM scene deals with so many broken/outdated or buggy packages."
Lots of issues could be caused by a messy GAPPS package or a messy recovery.
Now I suggest doing the following:
1) Take a backup of user files (pics, music, etc...) and don't take backup of app data as that could be messy or corrupted or at least take the backup of app data but don't restore it.
2) Download the latest OmniROM nightly, SuperSU and PA GAPPS (stock package seems the one for you) and check the files' MD5 after you download to be 100% sure the files aren't corrupted.
3) Download the latest official TWRP. For the love of Android, it's been stated by OmniROM developers that it's the officially supported recovery.
4) Flash TWRP and do a full wipe (system, data, cache and both SD and internal memory).
5) Do a reboot to recovery after wiping then flash the ZIP's in this order: OmniROM > PA GAPPS > SuperSU (don't flash any custom stuff or addons for now).
6) Reboot into system and restore data gradually. Install most important apps and keep on monitoring your phone for abnormalities and make sure you clean up your SD and internal memory backups from any redundant files before you get them back on the phone (there should be a "clockworkmod" folder that's not needed).
7) All should be fine now.
Notes:
1) Uninstalling GAPPS can be done by wiping the system, cache and dalvik-cache then flashing the ROM again but I didn't suggest that as the data partition is probably already messy.
2) NANDROID backups are ZIP files, you can extract them and get some data manually. You've made a NANDROID on a bad state so you can alternatively restore that before doing any of the above and selectively backup data using Titanium Backup and the files using casual methods.
Hope that helps and sorry for it being long. But such issues are hard to tackle on and you'll be better off doing a clean install.
Happy flashing!
Hey guys.
Phone is CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4) and Paranoid Android (Android 4.4)
What happened:
Phone crashed (screen became full of colors and phone restarted). After reboot everything on the phone was gone - GApps, all my apps, save a few of like a 100. Basically a fresh CM install without GApps.
What I did was flash GApps (correct package). Everything worked fine until I've tried to install an app. Phone immediately rebooted.
I've tried wiping everything, doing factory resets, installing older CM builds, now I've even installed Paranoid Android ROM. Still the same problem persist:
If I try to install any app from Play Store or just from an apk with I file manager - phone immediately reboots. The only way I can now use it is by disabling Play Store so it doesn't start to update something
Has anyone ever encountered this?
Is this the right forum to ask?

Maybe you just need to flash gapps right after the rom. I flashed cm without gapps once and when i booted back into recovery to flash gapps my phone crashed.
Doing them one after the other is the way to go.

Thanks for suggestion, I've tried that several times, didn't help...
I had the opposite after a crash on a nexus 4 over a year ago.. phone would reboot unistalling any app wether by play store or settings/apps.
after trying everything for most of a day, the only thing that fixed it was formatting the data partition.. not wiping, there's a format data option in twrp

I'll try this! But when? Before installing CM and Gapps, after?
Tried various ways, no game
Hi,
I had been using Temasek's Unofficial CM 11 ROM on my SM-N9005, then I decided to update to lollipop. So I backed up with Titanium Backup Pro, wiped data and dalvik and cache, flashed the AICP ROM, and now I'm trying to restore apps.
Restoring has been difficult in TB - it kept freezing/getting stuck on what seemed like random apps, and then it started to give me "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped" messages, which reappear a few seconds after they're dismissed.
I've somehow reached the point where if I install ONE more app (no matter what it is or whether it's restored from TB or downloaded from Play Store), I get "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped", but if I uninstall it I'm fine.
I know that apps should use more space with the ART runtime, but I have ~7GB of free storage so it can't be that. It seems silly, but is there some kind of app limit in lollipop that I'm unaware of?
Thanks in advance!
Actually the most important thing is what method are you using for restore? I mean are you using the only restore missing apps method or something else? Cause if you are using a method other than that then you will have problems.

Did you take a nandroid backup? If so, Restore it after wiping then use TB to make an Apps Update.zip and copy it across to your ExtSDCard. THEN flash the ROM and GApps - i also flash SuperSU.zip at the same time. Then I start the phone and set up basic info. Then Back to Recovery and run the Apps.zip file.
I also use Nova Launcher so once in I restore the backup and Voila! I have almost everything back as I like it.
Another thing to check is the SDCardfix - you might want to download a zip of it and flash it while in Recovery. Once it is done and you are in LP version it seems OK, but I had to restore and older version of Temasek's ROM and promptly had SDCard access issues until I ran the fix again.
Thanks for your replies!
I am definitely doing "restore missing apps with data", though I am deselecting some of the apps (the very large ones) before restoring if that's an issue.
I didn't take a Nandroid backup unfortunately, I usually don't as I have no need for the data other than apps. Using an "apps.zip" sounds like an interesting approach - I might try that next time.
I'll try to work with the SD card - should I try to find and flash an LP version of SDCardFix or just use the KK one?
I tried reflashing the rom after a data, dalvik, cache, and /system wipe. Then I restored all apps, but the same problem came back, so the problem seems to be replicable.
Some people in the forums have suggested doing a "Fix permissions" in CWM, however that feature was obviously removed. There's a flashable zip that restores the feature apparently. Do you think I should try that or will it have no effect?
Thank you!
