Im getting at an average of 34 degrees at normal use on my brand new s4, bought it on 21st aug..
Now i know there are alot of threads out there on solutions for this heating problem, but none of them
are working for me atleast. So is there anyone who can tell me a NEW solution to my problem, i have
tried the known fixes..
34 degrees in normal usage ... that's good ... there's no solution to that ... solutions u may found refer to 40+ problems ... u just have to deal with it as all of us do ...or try a custom kernel with some undervolting to see if this helps ... or else buy a case so u don't feel it ...
Well, it certainly isn't, because im talking about 34 degrees on opening something as simple as the gallery, when i run a game the temperature surpasses 40 degrees..
Also, im on arrow rom and using adam kernel, but the phone is still heating like hell...
Hence, if there is any other new solution, please help me and the others facing this problem, thank you

@shrishail87: what apps r u running in the background ? have u ticked the auto sync function & tell us ur way of using the phone- i mean wifi on or with 3G on or heavy gaming .... etc etc
without these information, its very difficult to comment about the battery life... hope u understand.... otherwise why dont u flash lite ROM pro 1.3 which is there in the dev section ? its the best so far.... try it & report here..
"batterycalibration" Check the market place
OP, here's some good news. Indian batteries don't behave any differently than batteries from other regions. You should feel comfortable participating in the half-dozen battery threads knowing that what effects you in India effects everyone else exactly the same way.
hello guys, I suffering long from heat issuess with almost all ROMs.. Really hating it .... All other phones like XZ or HTC One both have serious heat issues... never expected it to remain after firmware updates from Samsung
guys help me out telling whats your CPU temp when gaming and not using phone
check easily with that app i attactched no root needed
I got 52 to 56C with XXUBMEA
and when doing nothing its showing 37C
BTW I AM TALKING ABOUT CPU TEMP NOT BATTERY TEMP !!!
Sorry if the same subject has been already posted but dunno why i can't use the search(every time i click it redirects me to the same page)
so,my question is ,is there any fix for this? I find the phone imposible to hold in hand after couple minutes of browsing or gaming. Is there a software fix, like a kernel or smth? Or just hardware like coolers.
I have it since last thursday and im not satisfied at all with this issue.
thanks
buy a case ... so u can hold it
I have one,the sview flipcover. But is this overheating a serrious issue,i got temps of 40°C when heavy gaming.Should I be worried?

If u only get temps around 40°C when heavy gaming not only u shouldn't be worried but u should be happy most users get 50+
I was video calling on skype and checking something on the browser around 50°C is what i got ... it's uncomfortable but normal for the s4

I got the undervolt from Adam kernel so maybe this is why. So my probl is solved,i tought i have a replica or fake gs4. Thanks
So i discovered that 40°C was the temp for batt(stupid app) and the cpu tem was actually 67°C !! I played real racing 3 for like 30 minutes. So,i ask again, should I worry about this?
I m not a gamer myself to be sure about this ... but from what i ve heard that's normal too
which firmware do u have?

MG 9,with MG9 modem
You can try disable samsung link and hub, the phone usually cool down a little.
The only way i find to really solve this is flashing a custom rom, now its around 40/45º. Way better than previously 50/55º.

I have omega rom and adam kernel. I removed the bloatware
The same problem.
I hope 4.3 will solve this silly thing.
my phone have several issues but this heating problem worries me the most..
when im not touching the phone (placed on the table with display on but on lock screen) it is 35C to 38C
when i take it in hand nd unlock and even if i do nothing it rises and reaches 42-45C
when i use apps like gmail, maps, or sms the temprature is around 45-48C
when i play small games it goes between 50-60C
but the most worrying part is when i play heavy games.. the temprature goes above 60C and stabilizes at 65C.. aont once in a while it reaches 68C but comes down sooner
when i run benchmarking apps. the temprature went 70C and even reached 72C twice... will the device can handle such temprtures?
i know most of the processors are made to handle not more than 70C.. so im doubting this heat might burn my phone internals..
is it like this for all snapdragon 615 phones? or will it b fixed if they update to lollipop which is best suited for 64 bit processors?
or should i return the phone ( i have 6 days ) coz its defective??
please give me a reasonable reply some1.. i tried all forums and no reply.. please help me... i dont wanna regret buying this phone in the mean time i dont wanna regret returning this phone either so kindly help me
just went through this video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoODiio7qFw same case for me to oso i guess its comon for every1
yes i m also facing this issue and this issue is really big to worry about. I don't think it will be fixed, its seems hardware problem....... Recording videos increase my phones temp. a lot, to 70-75°c. I m really disappointed to have yureka!:banghead:

hey yes the phone overheats but dont worry...it seems to b kinda like a software bug...its cyanogens second company cmon...march 26 is the date for lollipop upgrage for it...so i guess the update will make the fone reach it full functionality...n i saw videos of the fones glass break test and bending test...its got really tough hardware...so it can mostly handle it,...bt i sujjest you not to usee it too heavily till the next upgrade...HOPE THIS HELPED..plz click like if it helped
Over heating in yureka is a software issue and hope it will be solved in future updates. Till then you can try to keep your memory usage low and clear the background processes frequently to keep a check on the temp. Try to stop all the unnecessary process and services that are running in background. It will help a lot.
Just change performance mode to balance mode and heating problem is gone
Hey guys , today when i was using mobile hotspot and my battery was low so i connected charger and used tethering while charging , but after some 30 min when i touched my phone again , it was as hot as a grilled chicken and even my hands were hurting when i touched it , i think it was 80 degrees + , but i didnt had the software to check temps , but it was hurting to touch , so i wanted to ask that if its normal and happens to everybody while using mobile hotspot while charging ? Also my phone was so hot , but it didnt shown any warning nor it rebooted or shut itself off , but i immediately turned it off when it was that hot , but i have to say that i never experienced any such extent of hotness before on this phone , even i did browsing , games and huge multitasking , this was the first time it was that hot , so should i not use tethering altogether ? And if its common issue ? Pls guide me. Thanks.
Edit : I never used fast charging or wireless charging
Any hint guys ?
Anyone pls?
This app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo&hl=en
Will get you a temperature. Feeling hot to touch could be anything above ~40-50C as proteins cook at ~42C. This is normal range. 80C is pushing it. Find us an actual temperature first.
Any questions, feel free to ask

Thanks for reply bro , however i used tethering now and installed the app you suggested to monitor temps, but to my surprise, i couldnt get it on that level of hotness even using tethering while charging with apps running , but as i said before it was much hot without any apps running with only tethering and charging.
Phone info app said temp was 42 degree when it was ok to my hand , but i can only guess that if my hand is uncomfortable due to hot phone it should be around 70 ~ 80 degrees , but it was damn hot at that time , i dont know why i couldnt get it heat up to same level , i will report back if i got heat issue again , also i request everyone to see if their phone also does this behaviour. Thanks

Glad it's not happening again. If it's a one off then I reckon dont worry about it. If it happens again, get us a temp and let us know.

Hey bro , just got the issue today , but a little less hot than that but it was still much , the weird thing is that when it was that hot , the phone info app showed 85 to 90% cpu usage , but i was doing nothing , no background apps , and all apps on sleep through device mantainence , and i was only using mobile hotspot while charging , now phone was extremely hot and i did a restart and took screenshot which is attached
Now i dont know the reason of this weird behaviour. After restart temps dropped from 49 degree to 45 according to app , before restart it was 49 degree and cpu at 85% to 90% load , after restart cpu showed normal load and temps began to low , when i took ss it was 45 degree, so i guess in real life it could be more than what app was telling because my hands felt like burning when touching phone , so at previous occasion when that happened and i created this thread , temps must be around 55 ~ 65 degree range , thats really strange behaviour though. Any hints from anyone appreciated
Hey guys , i guess no one has this issue ? Or any hint pls

Well yeah , but i didnt use tethering before and only started using from some days, so i had no experience before that, but that sudden increased cpu usage is strange, btw thanks for your help though.
