you test it on your phone ?
I'm using weather signal app and it sees the proper temperature sensor (not using the battery one) on my N9005.

thx man but this pic from n9000
any one can assure that working on Exynos version ?
I have n9005 and it has the same sensors , including temperaturesensor. So dont worry
At first when I got my N9005 I also thought theres no "temperature sensor" only "ambient sensor"? Seems some apps like Android Sensor Box may have not updated their app then I found out that the "TYPE_TEMPERATURE" sensor was replaced with the "TYPE_AMBIENT_TEMPERATURE" sensor in API Level 14 and has been deprecated.
See this link developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/sensors_overview.html
Hope it clears many doubts.
Hey guys, just noticed this today. I know the top and bottom holes are for the microphone but then i found another hole on the bottom right, anyone know whats it for?
Talking about the N9005, don't know if the N9000 has the same.
Bottom Right?
Don't suppose you mean the Spen slot..?

hehe no not that one, its on the right side of the phone all the way to the bottom just above the corner. the hole is a bit bigger than a microphone hole.

You can see it on the picture i linked
Probably noise cancelation.

prob temp and humidity sensor
Yes, I see it... I have no idea what it could be. It's not listed on the Consultant Guide or the Manual (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...UM_EU_Jellybean_Eng_Rev.1.0_130910_Screen.pdf )
It is no doubt a sensor, though which remains a mystery.
Temp and humidity sensor. Is the only one.who needs contact with the surrounding air. On the bottom the heat from the process will alter the readings. I'm 100% that i'm right about this.

What is your source?
Common sense. I do.have S4 with temp.and.humidity sensor and it's a hole more than the two mics. The Note 3 the same, only other placement of the hole. the S4 active does not have the temp and humidity sensor...so no extra hole, just thw two mics.

Do people actually use the humidity sensor a lot?

That's my point, how often do you really care what the humidity level is?
I used to drag race and a humidity sensor would have been great to have back then. Helps with calculations for settings.

Well let's just say it's as useful as air gesture and smart screen stuff. But that's samsung for you.

Isn't humidity and barometer sensor supposed to help with location in google maps? And I would suspect that those might be useful in a crowd sourcing app or whatever for more accurate weather per location if it is available to be used that way which as of now I don't think it is.
This article is an interesting read about how the sensor got incorporated into samsung devices/android.
Acording to Anandtech it's actually the third microphone that's used for noise cancellation : http://www.anandtech.com/show/7376/samsung-galaxy-note-3-review

Hi, I've my unit purchased in India. Don't know which model. I think It's 9000. It has a hole in the right side. Don't know what for. Besides, on the bottom right, next to S Pen slot, there is a rectangular open slot too. Any idea?
Just wondering, my N3 is giving me wrong temp value should i calibrate it for each app i install?

Should only need to calibrate it once, and it should be set. If not then there may be issues(?)

iam using thermometer plus app and shows the correct temp.
I'm using the same app but the problem is I have to leave the cell phone away from hands on order to reach almost the actual temperature
Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk
I have the same problem,I think it's because of bad design of thermo meter sensor and heat of phone affects it.

That's obviously the problem I was just checking if I'm the only one having this issue. Thanks aidin_m for your reply

Even if I left my N3 on the table, the temperature reading is still at least 2 deg higher. You can try this app 'weather station', it is able to offset the error.
Too bad I was looking for this sensor turned out invalid

Phone has temp/humidity sensor like s4 it just needs some time to so accurate measurement because it affected by our heat in pockets/bags etc. It needs some time to show correct values and is pretty accurate.
Also keep in mind not to block the sensor who is in right bottom side, it's a hole and if you use a case it must have also a hole for it.

Strange
Samsung says that the Galaxy Note 3 comes equiped with the following sensors:
Sensors:
Accelerometer, Geomagnetic, Gyro, RGB light, Barometer, Proximity, Gesture, Temperature & Humidity, Hall sensor
https://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/mobile/galaxy-note/galaxy-note/SM-N900WZKEBMC-spec
And indeed, my Note 3 has all these sensors.
Does it have it like the s4? Thanks

No to temperature
Yes to pedometer
No, temperature for S5. But you can always download Thermometer - for Galaxy S5 on Play Store
Thermometer - Galaxy S5 uses phone's temperature sensor to measuse instant temperature. It gives real time temperature with frequent updates. If the device does not have a temperature sensor the temperature updates are provided through web service. The colors indicate the air temperature.
Wait. So why are people saying no thermometer and then there's an app for it?
Doesn't it need a hardware sensor?
It are you guys saying it's just not in the s health app?
Confused

So sad. Out of all the gimmicks on the s4, the temperature sensor was the most useful
