I had updated my TWRP to 2.6.0.0 because the older version seems to fail to restore the backups. Now, the 2.6.0.0 also fails to restore my backups.
What could be wrong?
Thank you.

Consensus is to stick with 2.5.0.2 - almost everyone is staying on that version right now...so I suggest you do the same. I use OUDHS CWM so not sure why backups are failing to restore - I'm sure someone will chime in with their experience.

Thanks. I will look for that build. 2.5.0.2.
ya, I've had no problems wiht 2.5.0.2. including using backups and restoring them. but then again, when 2.6.0.0 wouldn't freeze, it worked fine for both too. your current backup(s) might be corrupted.

I have been trying the CM7 Alpha ROM's, and to install them you need to have the 3.xxx recoveries. There are now versions of this from xx.2 (currently using it) up through xxx.5, and now xxxx.5.1.7-
Some posters over on the CM7 forum had stated that before the latest one above, the latter versions through xxxx.5 would not restore or wipe successfully. Asked about the latest above on the CM7 thread, but no response.
The developers are doing a great job over there, but the thread is getting cluttered with "social networking' and not a lot of useful information, so thought I would try here.
as far as the buiilt in restore I wasnt able to restore my OG stock I made from CWM 2.1.2.5 I tried the restore with 3.0.0.2 maybe I would need to restore from the 2.1.2.5 I made it from??? maybe I'll try it from the newest CWM...

You cannot backup or restore anything with cmw 3.xxx except android 2.3 (like cm7). For all android 2.2X, you have to use cmw 2,xxx only.

ahhhhhh great to know.
I have my original OS backed up via the 1 click root method.
I have tried [ROM] Jr6 (JRO03D / 4.1.1): MCR - new: button mods, YouTube with preloading! by Paulobrien.
Tonight I flashed [ROM]| Glazed JellyBean|Version 1.1.2|Glazed Mods|Custom Animations|Speed| by Hyperrunner.
Now, I boot back into recovery and select the backup option, and when it is done, the file is only 20 megs in size, which does not seem right.
So can someone help or point me to a tutorial on how to back up my current rom Nandroid style so I can try out other ones and Nandroid back to ones I end up liking?
Thank you,
Whiteice

So I am at a loss understanding this. Maybe you or someone else can help me.
The first rom I mentioned in my OP says it needed CWM to install. Now I see other rom's that say TWRP recovery to install.
I have no idea on which route to go with doing all these.
Can anyone help me out here in better understanding on what I need to do here?
If I need to install TWRP, what do I need to do now since I have CWM installed to install TWRP?
Thank you,
Whiteice

cwm is buggy and twrp is more funtional, and works perfectly. cwm is just a popularity contest in all of android, but its not the best product.

So, at this point, how do I go about using TWRP then since I currently have CWM as the recovery?

flash it via fastboot http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/103
With my S3, I used CWM, and decided to go with TWRP on my S4, and just prefer the look and feel of CWM. So I'm looking at how to switch from TWRP to CWM, and can't find anything specific for the S4. Also, are the backups created specific to the custom recovery that created it? I made a nandroid backup with TWRP before flashing CM 10.1. If I wanted, could I flash that backup created with TWRP with CWM if I did switch? Thanks
Just odin CWM over top twrp. And I think the backups are compatible between the 2 recoveries.
Just flash CWM zip from TWRP.
If you are concerned about the compatibility of backups between CWM and TWRP you might want to try PhilZ touch CWM in the Original Development section.
Backups are not usually cross compatible AFAIK but you can use nandroid manager to convert them, although I've never tried it.

Thanks for the responses. But if the nandroid backups aren't cross compatible, I'll just stick with TWRP. There's nothing wrong with it, I just prefer the look and feel of CWM since it's what I'm use to.

Anyone updated to it yet for jfltecan or att?
Is the backup.tar date and time fixed?
And does reboot now actually reboot?
Any issues, problems?
Thanks for any insight. Much appreciated.

It might just be that im on mf3, but when it enters recovery it says NO COMMAND then in yellow states # MANUAL MODE #
Not giving me an option to, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, install zip from sdcard, backup and restore, or enter mounts & storage.
If anybody has an idea of what is happening that would be amazing, as

I'm not noticing any problems. My backup dates are correct and both reboots (system and recovery) work.

After doing some looking I have realized that rom manager did not actually install CWM recovery. Is there another means for me to install it on an MF3.

Are you on the office MF3 update? Don't attempt to flash a custom recovery if you are! Which I assume you are since it appears be your first recovery on an mf3 based firmware. All that will happen by flashing a recovery on an mf3 official firmware/bootloader is a load of issues.
Check out this thread by @TheAxman for all MF3 related questions.

I've had TWRP 2.6.0.0 lock up on me a few times in the past two days. Now that I'm trying on a few mods, It takes maybe 5 tries to get recovery to start. Using GooManager never works. That route just hangs on the splash page.
Should I consider a different version of TWRP, or just go with CWM? Whichever I choose, is there a file I can simply flash in recovery (assuming I can get into recovery just...one...more...time...please, oh, please)?
I am on US i337UCUAMDL, stock rooted ROM, AT&T if that matters.
There's a twrp 2.5.0.2 and a 2.6.3.0 flashable zip under my Sig in the general forum.

I need that link...I flashed Jeboo's CWM and did a backup. On the next boot, I got stuck in a boot loop. I know I have a TWRP backup of a good state, but can't restore that without a TWRP recovery. Can you give me the link so I can get this going again?

Thanks for the links.
I flashed 2.5.0.2 and tried to restore a backup that was made when I was on 2.6.0.0. I got a "Restore Failed" just after the data. I am wondering if it is because I went backwards in TWRP versions. I may have to flash a newer TWRP, I guess.

I had the same problem, you could keep trying to get this to work, or quit wasting time, and just odin back to stock, root, then install a recovery other than the newer twrp releases, they have issues, I was thru with all this in 1 hour, or keep getting bad flash messages....that is the easiest and quickest method.
And after you get that fixed, come take a look at Vision X, nice rom.
I have tinkered with your ROM. I did install it and make a few mods. Had issues with what kernel to pick, resolved apn issues. Was impressed enough to make a backup of it for later. I'm saying goodbye to my stock ROM, backing up data and configs for whatever ROM I go with. Yours is on the top of the list, but the kernel question lingers.
As for kernels, I want what will work on AT&T without having to jump through hoops.
