Hello,
I have a big problem relating to network services. But first a little background story:
My phone had android 4.1.2 V20C (vodafone). Because of the tweaks from the guys at Vodafone, the device was acting really slow, especially when any kind of multitasking was involved. So i decided to root, and flash a custom ROM to increase the speed.
Because i didn't find any ROOTing method that actually worked, i had to flash a rooted official firmware using KDZ flashing tool ( i followed the instructions step-by-step from this post, using the V20a version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204614 )
Now that i had ROOT access, i installed Clockworkmod and created a backup to the V20a ROM.
Until now the phone worked fine, i had service and everything.
I then proceeded in downloading on my SD card Slimbean 4.1.2 and the SlimGapps. I rebooted into recovery, i wiped data/factory reset, i wiped the cache partition and i wiped the dalvik, flashed the ROM and Gapps.
The installation went flawlessly, but the phone didn't prompt me for my PIN code when if booted. So i went into "settings->more->mobile networks->network operators->search networks" . Here i get an error saying that there was an error while searching for networks. The same happens if i tap on "select automatically" instead of "search networks".
What i did next was to enter in Clockwork and restore my V20a ROM that i saved earlier and surprise, i HAVE network service.
Naturally, i assumed there was something wrong with the Slimbean so i went and tried AOKP by following the same steps as i did before, but with no luck. The installation went without errors, but i had no network service again.
I did a little research and i found someone saying that he solved the same problem by not wiping the dalvik cache when installing the new custom ROM. I tried it myself but with no success.
Out of desperation i even tried to flash CM10 latest nightly, but with the same result.
Note: I each ROM, everything worked (BT, WiFi, settings, etc.) except for network service
Here i will provide the links from where i downloaded the ROM+according Gapps

AOKP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283521

Hello,
Yes,the problem is baseband. In v20 ,no problem, but you installed roms who have v10 baseband.Steps are:
1.Download rom you whant to install.
2.Download baseband for rom you choise(Cyanmod 10,Slim bean and P.A.C-Man have V10 baseband ,Cyanmod 10.1,10.2,stock v20 have v20 baseband. Download and full informations here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2335273 ).
3.Download GAPPS .
4.Copy to Scard :ROM,GAPPS and baseband
5.Install(The problem is when install v20 over v10 and viceversa.Every time you must install correctly baseband).
Chears.
bogdan109,
Thanks a lot!
I didn't realize that the baseband was the problem.
I chose not to downgrade to v10 or the radio stuff, so i simply got a cm10.1 ROM instead.
Thank you again for helping me, as well as other who will do the same mistake as me.

Salut Bogdan,
Multumesc anticipat!

Or did I have to use the KDZ flash tool?
How do i delete the CM10 with like a factory reset or something, I don't care that i lose files, i just want to be able to call/text..
I have a similar problem. I have tried to go back to v10k and back to v20 (CM was rebooting about 3 to 5 times a day) but I've lost EDGE (yeah, the city I live in only has edge connections - 3G works fine tho) and nothing I've tried got my mobile network going.
I do have the v10 from my operator but KDZ won't install it (says that the phone isn't the correct one, weird)..
(edit: btw, 2G isn't working even with v10)
Hello friends.

Hi peoples!
I’ve recently installed Cyanogenmod on my Samsung galaxy Xcover 2 (GT-S7710). But when I was done installing my phone couldn’t get any data (H/2G/3G) or call and receive calls. Could someone tell me what I did wrong or forgot whilst or after I installed Cyanogenmod? I would like to know because I’ve read other threads where people with a GT-S7710 do have a working network service on their phone with CM. And I also would like to know the solution to this problem because I can’t take a beating .
I apologize for the length of this first post . I just want to be totally complete about what I’ve done and tried so far to get CM to work with network service. I posted all this information to inform you all and so you could stripe a lot of questions off your list for finding the solution. Also I think this thread may be very useful for other Samsung Android users as well.
Kind regards,
Rick Willems
The problem
So the problem is that when I’ve installed CM10.1 or 10.2 or 11 to my GT-S7710, I don’t have any network service anymore. I tried to install CM using the following method: http://blog.arinium.fi/2014/07/howto-fix-samsung-xcover-2-issues-old-android-low-memory-slow-ui/. I installed CWM 6.0.4.6, wiped cache and installed CM10.2. After this it got stuck in a bootloop. Using the advice of this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084905 which was to also wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik using CWM it worked!! YES!! But **** no service.
Used Files to install
Links I used to download CWM, CM and Gapps come from these pages:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2384015&highlight=no+network, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43294839#post43294839,
CWM: http://www.adriadata.net/xda/skomer/
CM: http://www.adriadata.net/xda/skomer/
Gapps: https://itvends.com/gapps/
What I’ve done and tried
I tried to get network service back when I installed CM10.1 and CM11. In both cases I did a full wipe of data/factory reset, cache and dalvik then installed the latest stock rom/firmware 4.1.2 and do the instructions over again form the chosen method. I did notice that my phone does have network service when I have installed the stock rom/firmware downloaded from this link: http://www.mrcrab.net/down-firmware/14362/Samsung-Galaxy-Xcover-2-GT--S7710.html, My device also has got service when CWM 6.0.4.6. is flashed over the stock rom/firmware. Just not when I installed CM. CM10.1 was running more smoothly than CM10.2 and CM11 was running a little less smooth than CM10.2.
Attempt to solve the problem
I’ve brainstormed the following pages to get to the point of giving up .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35600769&postcount=2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205439

http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/85051-no-service-cant-calltextnetwork-after-flashing-cm11-nightly-on-i9305/
The most pages are threads for other devices, but I thought I just read it anyway, maybe I could get some useful information out of it. Some pages talk about CDMA/RUIM that you can find under network setting in settings, but I’ve not been able to find it on my GT-S7710. Other data found in these pages are also not corresponding with my device.
What I did notice and learned was that information in the EFS folder like Imei, Baseband etc. are used to find and recognize the simcard and thus enable data usage and be able to call and receive calls. So I thought why not backup a copy the EFS folder and place it in CM’s EFS folder after install, so I did. I installed stock firmware where my network service works following the same steps I took that I described earlier, backup the EFS folder to sdcard1, install CWM and CM10.1 and tried to copy the backed-up EFS folder to CM root. But no way would it replace the CM EFS folder, CM simply blocks the copied EFS folder from stock rom/firmware.
I am just out of ideas now and am requesting your aid. Please help me .
Got the same problem here, unfortunately no fix yet
Try this:

For those trying to install this or another rom and having the no signal(no smallband) problem. This worked for me on 2 xcovers.
Install cmw: http://theunlockr.com/2014/02/27/install-clockworkmod-recovery-samsung-galaxy-xcover-2-gt-s7710/
Root it: http://theunlockr.com/2014/02/27/root-samsung-galaxy-xcover-2-gt-s7710/
Now normally you can install the custom rom now(vanir). If you do you probably get no signal.
Start odin and flash this file : S7710XXAMB6_S7710OXEAMB3-20130713.tar.md5
I found it on this site: http://www.ulozto.cz/xHADj5PD/samsung-7z
If its dead you can pm me and I can send it.
After I flashed this the phone would just go in a bootloop.
Don't be afraid this is normal.
Now install the vanir rom in the cmw recover mode.
After this it should work fine.
Add a microsd card with 2 partitions and install mount2sd and you have a fully working phone with(almost) unlimited space.
I'm using if for an year now and it works great.
Better then most €500 phones which break after 1 fall .

With skomer it is definitely a baseband problem. Changing baseband solves the network signal.

because i have the same problem, i installed cm10.2 and everything were fine for a week and then no signal, i tried to install all the available firmwares out there, the closest i got was to find network and 3g i made a successfull call then i shut it off. At the next boot nothing again. My baseband is xxxx. What do i have to do to change baseband? My IMEI is correct.
does anyone have a /modemfs and /efs folder available to try or/and a modem file to flash?
Odin flash
Go to this page https://boycracked.com/2016/09/11/official-samsung-galaxy-xcover-2-gt-s7710-stock-rom/ and download stock rom labeled "oxeamb3". Put your phone on download mode and connect to odin. Flash this rom with it.
After that, flash your clockworkmod and custom rom. Vanir or CM.
If you still lose signal, try with AND2 stock rom. It's been a while since I did this so I don't remember exactly, but I think AND2 had problems with signal and AMB3 didn't.
Hi I got problems with my lux on every cm based rom. On every cm rom I get no reception of my carrier. I don't know if it's a device tree issue or just apn trouble. Since there are no aosp roms, I'm a little hung up. Stock rom works fine. I own the xt1562 operating on German carrier o2. Sometimes I get a few seconds of reception on cm roms, but it's leading just to no signal after a few seconds again. I nearly tired everything, flashed a different firmware etc. When I've flashed a rom I get the information that no sim card was found. After I restart the device he's asking for a pin. Also tried another sim card with the same result. Really could need some help.
flash the original fimrware from ur carrier or region
flash twrp
install cm and see if works
if not, flash only the radio modem from original firmware
Already did. Didn't work. Flashed the new cm12.1 from h2o64. This one is working.
I have the exact same problem with my XT1562 I bought from Germany through Moto Maker.
I installed h2o64's CM build from 10-10 after a full wipe (everything except internal data), and never got any proper signal. I tried squid2's CM build 10-12 as well, to no avail. Installing the XT1562 EU stock firmware following the linked explanation in the stock firmwares thread I had good, working signal, but then installing h2o64's CM build 10-14 with a factory reset rather than a full wipe resulted in the same issues described in this thread again.
I've read about these issues in different threads, mostly resolved somehow by installing the stock firmware, sometimes by selecting LTE as the preferred network type. I've tried these suggestions, but haven't had any success, and I don't know how to proceed.
Did I install the right stock firmware? (I would think so as it worked while it was installed.)
Did I forget to do something (like wipe, fix permissions, reboot the phone three times, howl at the moon,...)?
I use OpenGApps rather than tkruzze's since they're available in x64 as well so I can use them on all my devices. But that surely can't be it?
I'm at a complete loss at the moment, which is rather frustrating. Can anyone provide any help?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 9 mit Hilfe von XDA Forums Pro.
I managed to install h2o64's CM build 10-14 and getting proper signal now.
I flashed the RETASIA firmware from XMoDuLeSx's Official stock firmwares added for xt1562,xt1563 thread following the instructions linked in the first post, and then after a wipe of system, data, cache, dalvik-cache I installed [ROM][lux][5.1.1] Cyanogenmod 12.1 - 2015-10-14 [UNIFIED].
Keep in mind that I have ordered my Moto X Play from Germany, so it shouldn't require a RETASIA firmware. I'm not advising to install this, as it was nothing but a shot in the dark that surprisingly didn't brick my phone. Still, I wanted to share that I got it working after all, simply to follow up my previous post properly. Should the signal break again, I'll update this thread; if I haven't, assume that it's still working.
Either way, though: If you decide to go down this road and install a firmware that isn't right for your phone and brick it, don't come to me. I'm advising against doing this.
Seems i'm having the same issue...
I did all the wipes and clean installs but I can't connect to my carrier.
Although my phone only supports one sim card, settings shows two. The first one is the one i'm using and it is displayed correctly. The quick settings tile though tells me that there is no sim card inserted.
I came from stock, unlocked, flashed TWRP from squid2's kernel page, rooted, flashed CM(squid2), kernel(squid2) and OpenGApps.
Did I do something wrong?
Is there any news on how to fix this problem or do I have to try again and again an hope to hit the spot?

You need two more posts before you can post this in the CM thread from squid2. Squid2 is always fast with bugfixes. So make 2 other post and then explain your problem to him.

Hi everyone, I really need help. Yesterday I used adb to reinstall the stock rom oreo 8.1 (XT1683 POTTER RETRO 8.1.0_OPS28.85) everything went well, until the cell phone started... After installing the rom, I realized that my 4G doesn't work anymore, only the network 3G. When I put on the LTE(4G) network, the network is without signal. I installed more than 4 custom roms in an attempt to restore the 4G signal, but none of them worked. Reading some things here on the forum, I saw that it may have corrupted something in the file system, but I didn't find any solution. My IMEI is normal, the only problem is the 4G network that doesn't work anymore. Anyone have a solution? I don't have any files backed up. I'm currently using the custom rom (dotOS-R-v5.1.1-potter-GAPPS-20210614-0527) and I still have the same problem.
Anyone have a solution? If there is a solution and it is on video, even better. But it can be in text too. thanks in advance
Edit: Now I'm totally out of signal, just Wifi. My IMEI is normal, but I don't have a SIM card signal.
Edit²:
Problem solved.
How did I solve the problem?
I kept installing and reinstalling several roms and nothing worked. So I decided to install the Nougat 7 flashable rom, that's when after installing I realized that the 4g network was re-established. I immediately restarted the phone in recovery mode, accessed TWRP and saved the EFS file to the memory card and a pendrive. I reinstalled the custom rom I wanted and the network stopped working again, I checked and the IMEI was 0 so I restored the EFS file that I had backed up on Nougat 7, and it worked perfectly in the custom rom.
But another problem appeared, the fingerprint did not work. So I reinstalled the custom rom and it didn't work, I reinstalled the Nougat 7 flashable and the fingerprint came back, but when I installed the custom rom again, the fringerprint was disabled again.
To solve the fingerprint issue, I installed the Oreo 8.1 Flashable Rom and then installed the custom rom and the fingerprint issue was resolved.
NOTE: My LTE/4G network was only re-established because my IMEI was not reset, for this reason I managed to save the EFS file and restore it to the custom rom. I don't know it will work on devices with IMEI RESET.
