Screen brightness goes down automaticaly.

Hi,
Everytime my battery goes down 15%, my screen brightness goes to almost 0.
I cant see any setting to change this.
I dont have any app to do that.
Currently rba023 rooted.
Thank you

If there's a way to change it I would like to know as well. It's very hard to see for that last 15%.
Wish I could help.
The last 15% would last no time if it was at normal brightness. It's designed for, you know, if you need to use it in an emergency ;-)
To get your brightness back go to the sound and display setting and click brightness. It returns it to full brightness. When your battery drops to 10% and 5% it will do the same.
As far as I'm aware there isn't a proper solution to this.
My issue with the brightness is the "auto brightness" function seems backwards to me.
E.g. if I am in direct sunlight, auto brightness turns the brightness of the screen way down, which means I can hardly see it. If anything the brightness should be turned UP.
If I am in a dark room, auto brightness turns the brightness up, when really, turning it down would be better as it doesn't need to be as bright in a dark room. So it should be turned DOWN automatically.
It's arse-over-tit, as we say.
Yes,
But now with root, i'm sure anyone with the right knowledge can modify this 'stock setting' ! ...
Anyone to try it?
Cheers!

Hi mine seems fine.. Yours however does, as you say, seem arse over tit.

This doesn't really fix the query but for fast access to adjust the brightness I use an app called QuickSettings which I have on my front screen to give quick access to some basic settings. On the brightness adjuster you have to have the phone settings not on automatically adjust.

Auto or manual brightness..that is the question

I have been experimenting with brightness on my sgs and how it relates to battery life. So should I keep the brightness on auto or the lowest?
I have noticed that when my brightness is set on lowest, the phone will sometime turn the brightness up a lot for no reason. I think it should be on auto brightness.
Ideas?
on the notification bar up there if you sweep it left our right it'll adjust the brightness too, just found that or. pretty damned annoying.
my brightness is on it's lowest always, unless I need to see in the sun.

Yeah.. In Froyo they don't have that "feature" (hopefully they don't enable it either).
I keep my light down to minimum too. I've had no probs looking at the screen here, but then again, it is winter and I am an evening person..
I'd say lowest setting is the best, the screen isn't difficult to see even at it's lowest. brightest just makes everything look more vibrant and awesome. you can have a separate brightness setting for the browser too.
i set mine to manual
the auto doesn't work well, i like it bright, and in auto mode, it is not bright enough for me

You are right. If you have your brightness set to Manual, you can adjust brightness by sliding left or right on the notification bar at the top.
It's a problem because you can by accident set it to high and therefore drain your battery fast.
I have setup Tasker to set brightness to 40 once every hour. 40 is about 16% of full brightness.

Automatic Brightness

Here's my dilemma... I like saving battery by setting my brightness level lower than the automatic setting (since the screen still looks great anyway), but I would like it if I didn't have to go into my settings manually to change the brightness level so that I can see the screen when in direct sunlight. Is there any way someone could develop a mod to have the automatic brightness, but about 20% dimmer? I don't know if it's possible, but it would be pretty awesome.

I have my screen set pretty dim, and use the Power widget to crank up the brightness if I go outside.
You can also you the "Screen Filter' app to make the screen x% darker than the current setting. (which even allows you to make it darker than the dimmest brightness settting, which is really nice on the batteries.)

I am current searching for the same thing.
temp solution is to Market > Dimmer (night mode) by geekyouup
It toggles auto brightness and sets back light to min. when on. click once, screen goes super dark, click it again, auto brightness take over. handy. (put it up to status bar w/ bar control and you can get to it when ever)
Problem with auto brightness right now is at it's lowest setting, the back light is still at about 25%. there is gotta be a way to change that in the settings.apk
or better yet, have an option to set your own ambient light to lcd brightness ratio for the auto brightness
option to set own ambient light ratio?

I'm search for this also. I believe you can adjust this in CM7 but is there is a way to do this that is not ROM specific? I'm currently using RoyalGlacier with Faux123 kernel and I find the auto brightness setting for dim ambient to be too bright and the bright ambient to be not bright enough.

Full brightness of note 4. can i achieve that manually without going under sunlight??

full brightness of note 4 can reach upto 750 nits but for that i have to go under direct sun behind my head while using phone. that happens only in the automatic mode sure but is there a way i can achieve that manually ??? sometimes i need more brightness outdoor, real peak brightness only pops when sun is shining directly on the phone .... other than that brightness seems to be moderate .... if i could achieve that manually i would love it to be used under any condition i want

Well i cant help just telling you that it is not good
Iv been thinking a lot about this as well as im outside all day and a lot of the time i could use more brightness, carrying an extra battery isnt a problem.
I Cant seem to get my full 750 nits of brightness to work at all. Iv tried everything, being in direct sun light the screen stayes the same brightness, which is the full brightness when the phone is set to the highest without it being on auto.
Iv tried puting the phone near very bright lights, yea nothing works. Any suggestions, thanks
edit:nevermind I figured it out, I went all out this time and stuck the phone in front of a giant workroom light, the kind you hang with the prongs, so yea I see the 750 nits now. I have to hold it up directly to it, I dont see how in any real world use the sun could get that bright enough to make any difference. Id like that brightness all the time when im shooting outdoors, we have the ability to change batteries, why not use that feature to its fullest.
Umm turn off auto brightness and adjust the the brightness manually.....

see with the note 4, the manual brightness doesnt go all the way up to the screens capable brightness 750 nits, it has to be on auto brightness, then when its hit by a strong beam of direct light, the full brightness of the screen turns on, 750 nits. Just setting it manually the screen brightness only goes to 350.

AOD brightness is way to dim at night

Hi
The AOD seems to be bright in the morning but when it gets darker in evening it remains readable for only a few seconds and then dims down so badly that one cannot read anything on the AOD at night when there is pitch darkness.
I did set the brightness option in the AOD settings but that doesnt seem to help at all.
I'm not using Auto Brighness control also for the display.
Anyone else seeing this particularly at night?

Yes, in low light conditions the aod is to dim...in normal light conditions the aod is good!
Hope they fix it in an update!
Are you using any type of screen overlay?
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
Yes i use Lux-Autobrightness, but deactivated the overlay-right. Otherwise some system animations wont work...like blur in the power off screen, also you cant install non playstore apps with some type of overlay active (android security-feature). But Lux is not the problem, aod is also to dim without lux! Aod simply sets the screen brightness to low in dark enviroments.
